This place was great for so many reasons. We stopped here at a good time, and the guy that was working was willing to give us a back room tour. I don’t know if that is normally offered but it was great to learn about how they make their moonshine and sugar shine. The man that was explaining everything to us had great energy and was very engaging.
After the unexpected tour, we had our tasting. 4 samples, about half a shot each. The woman doing the tasting for us was great, super friendly and just chatted with my sister and I about stuff and things of all sorts. My sister and I walked out with an ample supply of delicious Moonpie Moonshine (the vanilla and the chocolate are the BEST EVER) and Sugar shine.

We visited here on the 2^nd day of our bourbon trail and we were so glad we did. It was nice to have a small local distillery rather than the larger impersonal ones. Steve gave us tons of information of the family, moonshine and lots of attention. He was truly happy we were there which we didn’t get from the other distilleries. The kitties, Whiskey and Rye, were adorable as well, just wish we could have played with them more.
The moonshines were a bit too sweet for my taste but were good. I loved the smoked shines and the Yellowstone 7yr was by far the favorite of the entire weekend but a little out of our price range so we couldn’t take a bottle home. We did do a mix and max bottles which was super fun!
If you are in the area, this is a must visit. It’s a great change from the larger distilleries that shuffle you through their tour, throw some tiny ½oz tasters at you and then push you out as soon as you buy their bottle.

Their products verge on VERY sweet, so if that’s not your thing you probably won’t enjoy your visit here. However, I thought they at least were taking a very fun risk and approach to moonshine so I really enjoyed our visit. Definitely a good location to add onto your itinerary if you are planning to go to other spots in the area.
We didn’t do a tour since we were limited on time, but we did a tasting and got to hear a lot of their history. Everyone who works there is SO nice. They made us feel instantly welcome which really made this a 5 star experience. We ended up buying their apple/​cinnamon bottle since it is really good. Imagine apple pie in liquid form. YUM.

Went here to tour the distillery all the staff was very friendly the tour was free very knowledgable staff on the history of moonshine did the tasting everyone one of there products is superb quality.

Great little distillery. I am a big fan of this little distillery. it is great how close you get to the whole process. The moon Pie Moonshine is a major highlight. The Jalapeño moonshine is amazing.

Cool little distillery on the Craft Bourbon Trail.
We were the only ones there at the time, so we got a private tour from the two distillers, which was really cool.
We also got each four tastes of their different moonshines, which we enjoyed.
My favorite were the Jalapeño moonshine and the Cherry moonshine. I loved that it wasn’t very sweet, because they use the real fruit and not syrups to make it.
If you’re in the area, stop by and pay them a visit.

This little place is off the beaten path, but I highly suggest making the trip for it. The people are friendly, the tour is really interesting and full of bourbon history (not to mention free), and the moonshine can’t be beat. This is a great stop to appease those bourbon-​hating people you dragged out to Maker’s, as most of their moonshine is fruit-​flavored. They even have Moonpie Moonshine. You can definitely taste the marshmallow.
Their tours are on the hour, but if you have a decent-​sized group, they’ll take you on the half-​hour. Have fun!

Limestone Branch is a must stop if you really want to enjoy a Small Craft Distillery. And there is no charge for the tour. Owner Steve Beam will give you a tour of the facility and explain not only the history of bourbon but, how his family fit into the whole history in the area. It’s a very small location so it does not take a long time to tour. Steve will invite you into the tasting room afterwards where you can sample not only the Sugar Shine product but, also the new Moon Pie Moonshine. It’s very good and the Banana was the best. They also have a gift shop where you can purchase the usual shirts, hats, pins, etc. You can also buy the products. They have all the flavors of Sugar Shine and Moon Pie Moonshine. The prices are very reasonable. Don’t miss this one.

Get off the elitist, over-​hyped official Bourbon Trail and visit this small sugar shine distillery. It’s about 9 miles east of Maker’s Mark (which you should skip anyway — see below). It’s in an area of KY with little or no cellphone coverage so figure out your route in advance and rely on your GPS unit, not cellphones. I don’ t know if you can taste without taking the tour (which is the ripoff case at Heaven Hill, Maker’s Mark, Town Branch, Wild Turkey, Willett, and Woodford Reserve distilleries where you also have to pay for the privilege). At Limestone Branch we were warmly greeted in the gift shop on a Sunday afternoon and were part of an intimate tour totaling 6 people that was free, short, and in the same building. The chemist was in the distillery and she and the guide were very knowledgeable and accessible. The sugar shine is good (the TV show Moonshine films here often). Tastings were generous and we bought a lot of product as its distribution is spotty in our home state at present. There were 4 of us touring several distilleries on the trail, which its marketing encourages, over 2 days. Paying for the same tours at all of them would have cost us more than $ 200 and have taken many many hours. This one was a refreshing and welcome change. Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, and Jim Beam let you taste without a tour. Patronize them along with Limestone Branch. Also I spend lots of money at distilleries like this one where I’m made to feel welcome, where I can taste the product, and where my business is appreciated. Thank you!

Cutey little distillery that is along the craft bourbon trail. Its a small operation currently and they are not yet selling bourbon since it hasn’t been two years in the barrels. Nonetheless, they are selling shine… all flavors and quite tasty too! We took a tour of their operation which is a third of their metal building. Cure little tanks and the still is gorgeous. Afterwards we got to sample all the flavors of shine and of course bought some to take home. Hit this place… its refreshing after the mega distilleries.

This was the most intimate and friendly distillery I’ve been to.
When we pulled up, I instantly had a good vibe about this place. When we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and waited only 15 minutes for the private touring which was very small and quick, but interesting.
There was only 3 employees working at the back. As they were explaining the history behind Limestone and the making of moonshine, you can tell in their voices that they really enjoyed their jobs and took pride with their product.
I thought it was cool when one of the employees mentioned she had a degree in chemistry.
The tasting was free. My favorite is the apple cinnamon pie. I bought the biggest bottle which was only $ 26.00.
This is a must visit when going through the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour.

My friends and I visited Limestone Branch while on the regular Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Note, Limestone is, in fact, a stop on the craft trail. First, having stopped at bourbon distilleries allllllll weekend long, Limestone Branch was a refreshingly nice change of pace. Additionally, it’s always nice to support micro/​craft operations. Their website indicates that tours are conducted on the hour; however, they seemed to be really flexible (at least that day) and offered us a tour immediately. The tour lasted maybe 20 – 25 minutes, and was conducted in the small, one room warehouse. After the tour you have the opportunity to taste four of their liquors. I’m not a moonshine drinker, so I picked all of the «fruity» moonshines. The apple moonshine was DEFINITELY my favorite. OMG, it was delicious! Oh, and the best part? The tour (along with the tasting) is FREE. Yup, that’s right — 100% free. Enjoy!

A friendly private tour of Limestone Branch where they make moonshine even for that moonshine guy on tv. It was great to see the process all in one room, a very small scale operation. The mash is made without heating in oak barrels. I liked learning the history of the owners and all of the heritage and family ties to the Beams.

I’ve done a dozen brewery tours and quite a few distillery tours. This is one of the very best.
Limestone Branch makes moonshine. It was great to see the process and to see a very small scale operation. I never would have thought to see the mash made without heating in oak barrels.
The distiller was very generous with his time and we also spent time talking to another very knowledgeable staffer who did a good job of answering questions from three chemists.
Not only that, but its a good product. The sugar shine and the slightly aged sugar shine were better than some whiskeys I’ve had, and had a good and distinctive flavor.
Great addition to the craft bourbon tour and a great up front look at distilling heritage and history.

Great history, people, product!

Part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour, this small distillery makes mostly fruit-​flavored «sugarshine» which is delicious.
We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and got a private tour of the distillery, including seeing all the fruit in a vat of blackberry sugarshine. As has been mentioned, the owner is a Beam relative, and there are some very cool historical items, as well as 2 very beautiful stills.
We also got to taste a few of the wares… all of them were delicious, but I highly recommend the autumn seasonal, pumpkin pie. We visited in the spring so we were allowed to taste it, but all of the bottles were sold out for purchase (we made up for it by purchasing some other flavors… yum).
I highly recommend a stop here.

This distillery is part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour and I’d recommend a stop here. It’s located in Lebanon KY, in a nicely appointed new building easily accessible from the road with plenty of parking.
This is a small distillery, mainly producing Sugar Shine right now, but I can’t wait to try Steve Beam’s bourbon when it’s ready.
If you’re lucky, like we were, you’ll get a tour from the man himself (which is really neat). We had a great tour of the facility, which is small but functional. It’s really worth taking this opportunity to see what a smaller less commercial production line looks like in comparison with the giant production facilities at some of the other distilleries. He also has a very beautiful still from North Africa (this may have been my favorite still of our whole trip actually).
We got to try some of his current products which were good, I particularly liked the Double Oak Sugar Shine Barrel Reserve. We bought a few bottles of our favorites, some of which you can buy from liquor store locally but not everywhere and I certainly didn’t see the Double Oak anywhere but the distillery, plus Steve even signed my bottle of Double Oak making it extra cool.
I recommend you stop here, I’m also planning on going back to see how the bourbon turns out… I can hardly wait.

Love it! A must do on the Boutique Bourbon Tour, and if you get lucky, you will meet Steve Beam, a descendant of the original Beams and starting his own Bourbon Business! To make money while the first barrel ages (it was just put up in Apr), they make Sugar Shine, a step up from Moon Shine and really good. The distillery is small and quaint and so much cooler than the big guys (though they were great). We got to dip our finger in the corn mash and then try it as it came out of the distillery… you don’t that up close and personal with the makers, the mash, or anything with any other distillery! And… the Sugar Shine is made into various flavors. We now have a bottle of Apple Pie Sugar Shine and it is amazing!
The brand new building is beautiful. The tasting bar is a stunner and designed by Steve. The distillery is lacking the old world charm of Woodford but it’s small stature is just so cool! They do have a distillery which was had hammered from Italy and it is awesome!
The only thing that this place lacks is adequate signage to get there. I just happened to see an arrow pointing left coming out of Makers Mark and off we went. If it hadn’t been the kind folks at the BP Gas Station, we might still be looking!
