Mrs Anderson’s Lodging House

It is what it is. It’s clean, safe, and warm. It’s also very old. Not the charming-​historical type of old, just the tired-​type of old.
Showers were warm, not hot. Breakfast was cold, not warm. (Unless, you consider a bagel a warm breakfast). Indeed, there were mannequins in vintage dresses on the walls, of our room which seemed «ghostly».
I guess I was expecting a cozier experience. In the winter, the town rolled up about 6:30pm during the week, so we spent much more time in the room than expected. Proprietors were friendly. Just don’t expect the usual B&B experience.

I stayed here for 2 nights (required minimum) during Oktoberfest the weekend of the marathon I was running. The price wasn’t much lower than all the other places but this was one of the last few places with vacancy left in July (book early people). I found out why! If you want a trip back in time, boy you’re in for it. A time before mattress pads were invented and before fabric softener. The towels were so old it was like using sandpaper. I slept horribly on the super hard bed. The decorations are overdone in a creepy, tacky way. I would hope for something a little nicer and homier for the money paid. Breakfast was cold oatmeal and blueberry bagels. Listen, blueberry bagels are not a big people-​pleaser. Other B&B’s do eggs & toast and it would be so easy to make people a nice breakfast if you’re going to advertise breakfast. Or at least specify «continental breakfast» so they know what to expect. I asked if I could access a microwave or hot water so I could make my own breakfast at 5am since the race was at 7. Nope.
I think next time, if everywhere else is booked again, I would be better off camping. The only reason I didn’t this time is because I wanted a soft bed and good night’s sleep before the race.

Had reservations at a different establishment but couldn’t stay there because the rooms were disgusting. Ended up walking around town looking for an alternate place to stay and stumbled across Mrs. Anderson’s Lodging House. Was pleasantly surprised. Walked in and talked to the lady that was on duty. She willingly showed us not one, not two, but SIX rooms. That alone sold us on staying there. Especially given the pricing. Ended up in a room that’s called «Grandma’s Garden.» Wasn’t wild about all the pink paint or the «ghosts» (as my girlfriend called them) on the walls — hanger mannequins made up in old clothes. But … the room was quiet and private and had a FULL-​SIZE fridge (important since my girl had brought her juicer and a cooler full of produce). The parking is behind the lodging house and was perfectly situated for our room. Really, REALLY enjoyed our stay and will definitely keep them in mind the next time we’re planning a trip to Leavenworth.
(Note: 4 stars instead of 5 because of the «oldness» of the accommodations and the slightly less than comfortable beds.)

Have stayed here several times. Always clean quiet and the owners and staff are very helpful. The downtown location and cost can’t be beat.

Stayed here once, years ago, but looking at the photos on the website, I don’t think much has changed.
Mrs. Anderson’s Lodging House is a quaint, simple B&B. I stayed with a group of women (there was 5 of us), so we had one of the larger rooms («In The Trees»?) with a private bath and it was big and comfortable enough for all of us.
Its an easy walk to the village area, but isn’t on a main street so noise shouldn’t bother you.
All the rooms & common areas are carefully adorned by antiques. I remember there being a selection of board games to play, but it was so many years ago, I just cannot go into too much detail of what else the common rooms had to offer. There is also a yarn & fabric store on site.
Breakfast is served every morning, and that is a nice touch, too.
The only real down fall is no pool.
Although I prefer a few other places in Leavenworth (that give off a more hotel feeling), I would stay at Mrs. Anderson’s again for sure… ESPECIALLY if I needed a room with multiple beads, or I was staying alone. The prices for a lone traveler or (the opposite) a person needing many beds the prices cannot be beat!
