Collins Advanced Dermatology Institute

Had such a great experience as a new patient here for my skin exam/​mole removal! The medical assistant was personable, professional, and empathetic of my nerves. I couldn’t even feel her numbing injections, and I’m a huge baby when it comes to pain tolerance. The doctor was reassuring and direct. Would definitely recommend and continue to do future skin exams here.

I can honestly say that I love this office! The office itself is clean and comfortable. The front and back staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Dr. Collins is probably a few of the nicest doctors I’ve meet. He was patient and listened to all of my concerns. I didn’t feel rushed at all! He seems to really care about his patients. And I loved the aesthetician Amy, she was very nice and knows her stuff. I would definitely recommend to anyone. So glad I found this place!

Super nice staff. We’ve seen 2 different doctors I believe. And we have been here 3 times total. They have been very thorough and given us options. Exactly what you would want in medical treatment.

Having a history of skin cancer, I was very careful in researching Dermatologists here in the Leander/​Austin area after moving to Texas this past summer. I have to be seen every 3 months so I was looking for a friendly staff, great office and above all else, experience in treating skin cancer. I found all three of these in Collins Advanced Dermatology. They were very thorough, informing and friendly and their Leander location is beautiful and very well maintained. I feel completely comfortable leaving my health in their hands.

This is my 3^rd visit to this office, each time I have been pleased with my visits. This 3^rd visit was for a suspicious mole and I was nervous, needles and biopsies just freak me out anyway Dr. Collins was such a doll about my fears, he and his nurse Amber did everything they could to make it comfortable for me. I am a big fan of this practice and will spread the word!

All of the folks at Collins Dermatology are terrific. They helped my son with his acne issues and helped me with allergy testing and skin checkups. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. They even helped navigate billing and insurance hurdles which puts them high on my list. I highly recommend Dr. Collins, Dr. Tom and the gang for any dermatology needs.

I had a great experience here. The staff was very helpful. The prices were very fair. Everything was upfront and no surprises. They even gave me sample to try before committing to buying a cream or sunscreen. Gotta love a business that puts the customer before the money. I’ll be back for any future skin needs.

I moved my family to another dermatology office. on July 1^st requested my records and on my visit for my children to this other dr. office on July 31^st the records had not been received. I contacted Collins Advance Dermatology and asked for the records to be put on hold by receptionist (I’ll leave the names out bc really — does it matter?) for a few seconds less than 10 minutes to only have the office manager come to the phone to say «May I help you»…even though she knew why I was calling as she mentioned when I asked. She advised on her end they received the request (which I had a fax received copy of the request so I knew this) and she invoiced the New office and that’s why records had not been sent. I asked the amount and it was $ 69 and change. When I expressed why I had not been contacted about the request since it was in their mind a payment needed as they always had been quick in the past to contact me if a payment was needed besides a copay… but not the release of my medical records via my written consent, she apologized and said she would only charge me $ 25 per child to fax their medical records.
She did proceed to tell me about Dr’s rights where I returned with Patient’s rights. — That really was the icing on the cake.
(I asked for the copy of her faxed invoice to the other office be provided as well to just check if true — that wasn’t sent either) —
So… records sent after $ 50 payment.
Paper doesn’t cost that much and if it did I could supply nice thick card stock and have it look nice and still come out cheaper! Just ridiculous and questionable to me. I had referred people there in the past and for the particular PA I saw and I have advised of how their office responded to this situation. They had said they left already anyway — so must be more to it than medical records —
When my children and I did go there — we say one Physician’s Assistant and loved her, but she isn’t there. With that being said and the way my medical records were handled and the phone call… Why do I want to bring my children or go myself.

I went to Dr. Collins for a yearly check up. Check up went fantastic. Dr Collins and his medical staff have a great bedside manner and made me feel extremely comfortable. I ended up having 3 moles biopsied, one of which had precancerous cells. My excision surgery was great– procedure was smooth… Dr. Collins and his asst did a great job in distracting me and making me laugh.

Excellent service, very professional staff. I was a new customer two weeks ago and will be a customer for life! They treated me for a mole removal. They made me feel relaxed and welcome. I recommend them for the whole family.

The office is well run, well organized and most importantly has doctor that cares! That is hard to find these days. He saw our 2 ½ year old and quickly diagnosed the condition and gave great explanations. Plus the online scheduling is a breeze!

I really love Dr. Collins here but DONT miss an appointment!(for any reason) The receptionist will call you 2 hours after your scheduled appointment and say «we had you scheduled at one today» then go silent… I apologized profusely because I didn’t have the appointment in my calendar (my fault for forgetting) still silent. so i went silent. then she will rudely say well I guess we will cancel it. umm… yes… it was two hours ago. Frankly I couldn’t believe how rude she was for a simple mistake, I didn’t reschedule because of this behavior.

Ok I am going to admit to being a bit of an Austin snob. I tend to think that everything is better in Austin than it is in the suburbs surrounding the city. I don’t often venture into Leander, however, I read the reviews on this place and decided to give Dr. Collins a chance.
First of all, I love that I can book an appointment online. I don’t have a lot of time to talk on the phone, I’ve got a busy, loud, noisy toddler who never lets me talk on the phone peacefully. So I wait until her naps and have to hide in the bathroom to make phone calls because she’s the lightest sleeper ever. Making an online appointment just took away all of those issues. And somehow I managed to snag an appointment the next morning (which was perfect).
I went in and immediately felt comfortable. The receptionist was nice, the interior was clean and nicely decorated, very modern looking. They had tons of sunhats for sale and coffee and water out in the waiting room. I didn’t feel bombarded by brochures.
They got me in very quickly and I also liked that. I happened to be going in to get a mole check (because moles are evil evil time bombs). The doctor came in promptly, was very professional, and offered to remove a few of the moles that were unsightly/​possibly needed to be checked for cancer (even though he didn’t seem all that concerned they were cancerous. I might have forced him into removing them anyway). They numbed me up, sliced them off, and sent me on my way. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
The doctor seems like a nice guy, he definitely made me feel comfortable which can be difficult when you’re in your underwear and bra and a flappy medical gown showing moles in areas you wouldn’t exactly want to show someone you met 5 seconds ago.
I liked him so much I booked an appointment for my husband as soon as I got home from mine (online of course). And it looks like they’re filling up fast because the appointment choices are already less than when I got mine.

A true example of how a practice should be run. Dr. Collins was simply amazing! I have never met a Dr. that is so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I was a first time patient and felt completely at ease and never felt rushed. Dr. Collins took the time to discuss treatment options (and even shed light on misconceptions) and made me feel like I was truly cared for. The office is very modern and clean — fun fact I was told it used to be an old church– you would never be able to tell with the amazing job they did in renovating. The staff was nice and the experience was all around great! I would gladly recommend anyone needing a dermatologist to see Dr. Collins. Dr. Collins was so great I actually wish he was my primary care physician. Seriously, check him out! The only negative I have is the location… it is a bit off the beaten path, but remember sometimes «the road less traveled makes all the difference.» In this case it did.

I continued to get lost in a reputable practice b/​c of it’s size. It was hard to get appointments in. when I’m concerned about a spot or skin issue, I don’t want to wait a month. They got me right in. I wanted to see Tricia b/​c I had known someone else who had seen her and really liked her. She is thorough and treats only what is necessary. She also took great care of my teenage son dealing with acne and gave him a sensible treatment plan knowing how boys can be when it comes to creams and lotions. I feel very well taken care of. My husband is next!

I love this place! I have been seeing Tricia Winters, PA-​C for a while and she is so great! Very well educated and so friendly! So easy to talk to, and spends time answering any questions/​concerns you may have. I also see Anne Marie Slater, LA as well and absolutely love her! She is great at what she does and continues to help me look my best with younger looking skin! I live in central Austin and still drive to Leander for these two! So worth it! The office is nice, very quiet, and all the staff vey friendly. I would highly recommend them!

I am very happy with Collins Advanced Dermatology Institute in Leander. The newly renovated office is state of the art offering a multitude of services. The stand alone building makes for easy access and has ample parking.
Tricia Winters, PA-​C is very caring and takes all the time you need at your appointment to advise and answer any questions.
Anne Marie Slater, LA is great also. She makes me look so good, I get compliments on my complexion all the time!
To date I have not visited with Dr. Chris Collins, MD, FAAD but my mother-​in-​law has and is very pleased.

I wanted to take a minute to rave about Tricia Winters, PA-​C and Anne Marie Slater, LA @ Collins advanced dermatology institue. I started seeing these 2 when they were with a different office and have now followed them over to Collins. Together, these 2 continue to help this ‘older’ 2^nd time mom look like all the younger moms I run in to every day at preschool :-)

I’m happy to be able to write an awesome review about Dr. Collins and his practice. I called last Friday to make my son an appointment to address his mild acne. They got him the very next Friday first thing in the am so he didn’t miss any school. The office is conveniently located in Leander, so no driving downtown! The office is BEAUTIFUL! Very very clean. The staff is very clean, you can tell they take the time to look nice and neat and put together for work, which, I’m a big fan of. Nothing more depressing than going to a healthcare provider and seeing a staff that looks like they just rolled out of bed and unprofessional. Anyway :) We filled out all the NP forms and was taken back within 5 minutes by a pretty girl named Missy. No waiting around in a quiet cold room for long, Dr. Collins immediately came in and introduced himself and asked us how we heard of him and what we needed today. He had a very warm presence and nice smile as did his staff! Within a few minutes, he had a quick fix, gave us a lot of samples and coupons and sent my son on his way. It was VERY refreshing to finally find a dermatologist that was as friendly and personable as him! I don’t remember her name, but the sweet girl up front was awesome too!!! Super friendly, professional and efficient! I’d recommend this place to everyone… I plan on scheduling my yearly checkup as well as my husband who see’s a dermatologist every 6 months. Great job guys, EVERYONE of you! Thank you thank you THANK YOU!
