Academy Mortgage – Layton

If I could give them 0 stars I would. We’ve had nothing but problems since we started working with them on a new mortgage. The underwriter didn’t get started on our loan until late in the process resulting in us closing past the date they said we would close by almost 2 weeks. Bad communication the entire time. Felt like the company was totally disorganized. They were still asking for documents they could’ve asked for ages ago past our closing deadline, for example paystubs and bank statements. Big mistakes that we literally ended up paying for, for example we told them numerous times the amount we would have available to bring to closing. And they «messed» up on the paperwork and resulted in us bringing an additional $ 400 to closing which we were not prepared for even though we told them several times the cash we would have. I would say if you want a smooth and speedy mortgage process don’t use Academy.

Ridiculously slow & won’t return phone calls. Looking at a second extension now on a home contract, originally 30 days with a pre-​approval, because Academy’s turnaround time is slower than Christmas!

It doesn’t matter how good the initial loan process is if they transfer your loan in a couple years. Ours was just transferred and now when I call customer service to ask why they told the new loan company that our loan payment is $ 200 more than it is I get an automated response that our loan has been transferred and it disconnects me.
