If it’s busy they can’t handle orders and give you the wrong bagel sometimes. I called in to order a bagel and was in rush and they gave me the wrong order. I didn’t know until I got home. Make sure you always check what they give you because they aren’t organized.

I love bagels and I love Lawrenceville, so what’s not to love about a bagel shop on Lawrenceville’s Main Street? I finally stopped in here on a recent Sunday morning after having bookmarked the place over a year ago and the bagels did not disappoint! I ordered a baker’s dozen of several different flavors(poppy, pumpernickel, pumpkin, rye, sesame, whole-wheat everything) and all alike were delicious. The bagels were nice and crispy on the outside, yet soft and doughy on the inside, which makes for a solid bagel in my book. The ingredients used in baking were likewise top-notch! The sesame seeds had a rich and complex nutty flavor; pumpkin bagel tasted like it was made with real pumpkin purée(rather than artificially flavored); rye and pumpernickel were just the right amounts sour; etc. I also appreciated that the bagels were of a reasonable size(not too big or small), so you could eat a whole one in one sitting without feeling too full. While I agree with other reviewers that the shop is no-frills, this comes with the territory and this was not unexpected to me. The interior was definitely clean and service courteous on the day I went, which is about all I expect for ambiance at a bagel shop. While I simply grabbed a bag of bagels and went on my way, I will definitely be returning here sometime soon. I would like to try some of their cream cheeses and breakfast sandwiches and think I might have found a new local shop to pick up bagels at. Overall, a great local business and one that I will be sure to frequent in the future!

$ 7 chicken salad sandwich. Very little chicken salad actually on sandwich. Like a teaspoon maybe. Complete bullshit.

The bagels are not very good, taste more like they have been sitting out for over a day rather than fresh. Gone in there 4 – 5 times, every time they mess up the order. Even the simplest request of toasted they can’t even get right. Regardless of messing up the order, they charge $ 6.50 for a Bacon Egg & Cheese!!! Seriously its 1 Egg, 2 Strips of Bacon and 1 slice of processed cheese, its disgraceful… Ive been to many different bagel spots that are WAYYYYY more crowded and they don’t even get the orders wrong. Honestly if in the area and looking for a bagel or breakfast sandwich, either make your own at home or go check out WAWA on Rt 1. The owner should be ashamed, there clearly robbing people blind. AVOIDATALLCOSTS!!!

Ordered two bagels, both toasted. Both were flat and doughy and seemed barely cooked at all. On top of that, the service was exceptionally slow — about 10 minutes to get them.

Bagels here are always delicious! A variety of cream cheeses and breakfast sandwich options. Only three stars because of the pricing — some of the single bagels with any cream cheese other than plain really are ridiculously priced. For not much more, you can buy a whole tub of cream cheese from the fridge — doesn’t really make sense. However, the bagels are tasty and it’s convenient for when we happen to be in Lawrenceville. Plus they have Bailey’s coffee creamer, which we love.

I’ve been a regular customer for over 17 years(since the days of the original owner, Bagel John) and have always really liked their bagels, but the last couple of dozen bagels I’ve purchased in recent weeks have been disappointing; about 25% smaller than usual and a little too chewy. I’ll attribute the«down tick» to perhaps a «summer crew» working there and will give them a try again soon & update my review. Tried them again recently(10÷17÷15) and it was exactly as described above. The place is definitely down a few pegs from what it once was…

Not too happy with my visit about a month ago. Waited to calm my review. Went around 12:30 and ordered a standard pork roll egg and cheese on a plain bagel with salt, pepper and ketchup and a coke to go. Paid for my order then waited and waited and waited. After 20 minutes I still never received my order and had to leave for work and the cashier would not refund my money and the sandwich was not even on the grill yet. It was not even that busy. I left without my sandwich. As far as I’m concerned this place owes me like $ 5.00. To bad I’ll never go back to collect. Only go here if you have a lot of time on your hands.

Meh. The bagels were more like rolls. The place was crowded, though, the few times I went there. I opted for a plain bagel with plain cream cheese each time. It was just … ok. It wasn’t dense and chewy the way I expect a *real* bagel to be.

I am a local — I’ve been coming here since it was first opened by the original owner. John was a guy who knew how to run a business and hire the right staff that could get the customers in and the food out. The new owner is an equally nice guy but his only gift to this business is that he bought an established business in a great location, with little competition in the area. Now the food is fine and priced to the area no better or worse than most, if you are lucky to get what you ordered. Even then my main complaint is their utter lack of efficiency. It’s frustrating to watch them write the order then refer multiple times to the endless list of options and prices on the wall behind them, tap it into the register, finish the transaction and only then pass off the ticket to the prep station. Once in queue, feel free to enjoy the bobbing heads as they touch the food and repeatedly refer to your ticket and all that preceded it with each step of assembly, only to see your order sit on the counter while the owner or manager oblivious, stand by or chitchat with patiently waiting customers. Quite honestly, I only stop in when all other option run out. I am quickly reminded each time why I prefer any other place. It’s been about a year since my last visit and now they have more staff behind the counter and still no more productive. Just more doing the same. So if you are not on a schedule and have a distraction to pass the time this small neighborhood bagel joint could fit the bill, I hear their coffee is good and it’s self service. Thank Unilocal for giving me an opportunity to vent :) Back to Udo’s Bagels…

Very decent bagel shop. But the five stars is most definitely for the name. The guy who runs the place, when I asked him«do you know what that means?», said«I know all about it» in a kind of I didn’t know it at the time and now i’m stuck with it kind of way and seemed a little annoyed. I don’t think you should ever change that for those of you who don’t know what I mean. The word maidenhead is most definitely an old English word and still sometimes used for a Hyman. If you don’t know what that is feel free to look it up I don’t want to go into more details. I was thinking though that he may want to put a thin membrane of dough over the hole in the bagels because that would be absolutely hysterical. I just don’t see how when naming a place you could not realize that, it’s not like it’s on Maidenhead road or the town of Maidenhead eyc. I just don’t see how it came to be. I would so love to know and how it is that no one could have given him a heads up.

Service is very slow and staff is usually rude or incompetent. There isn’t any where to stand while waiting so long for food and is often very crowded. The food itself isn’t that bad but can’t make up for the service! There is there better bagel places around than this one.

Service is slow and store is often crowded – no where to stand while you wait. Staff is mostly high schoolers who don’t seem to know what they’re doing. Bagels are okay but not great.

Bagels are supposed to be dense and chewy. Maidenhead is not. Don’t get me wrong, they’re using a good dough and the taste is right, it just has the texture of a sponge. I’m squeezing the bagel flat and it takes the its original shape like a memory foam bedding. They make a decent pork roll, egg, and cheese though. Egg was cooked perfectly. On the expensive end by running almost $ 5 for it and the bagel gets too soggy for me, but not horrendously so. Staff is also super friendly and fast but not enough to redeem the bagel for me.

The bagels are honestly delicious! I personally think Long Island bagels are the best, and these are a close second. However, everything is WAY overpriced. For a BEC and a drink it comes to over $ 8. There is always a crowd on the weekends so expect to wait a while. Also, after you put in your order expect to wait at least 10 minutes to get your food(even if there is no one there). I only come here once in a while if I am not in a rush. I now just get a bagel and use my own cream cheese at home.

Bagels are delicious but overpriced, and the service is so slow! The process of ordering and waiting takes forever — they need to adopt an assembly line format. You’ll wait 10 minutes for a bagel with cream cheese, even if no one is there — and you’ll pay for it!

This place comes in second after Sam I Am bagels, which is located Berkeley Heights and I believe there is another Sam I Am Bagels on RT46, different owners… Maidenhead, offers a variety of fresh bagels and they give you the Baker’s Dozen Deal, don’t see that too often anymore. In addition, although, I have never had a sandwich bagel, they seem to be be very popular too. Appears not only to get a morning rush but does a nice lunch business too. Service is friendly and quick if you’re in a rush… Looks like the locals like to kick back and relax with a cup of Joe at one of the checkered cloth tables… No table service, you order from the counter and they call you up when your order is ready, which is fine with me. Whenever, I am traveling thru the area I make a point of stopping in… I just can’t seem to ride past without stopping. :)

This is a totally old-school, family-run little bagel shop. Do not expect corporate efficiency(or interior design/style), but do expect tasty, fresh bagels in a number of flavors(though I always get sesame). Much better deal to just get your bagels here and buy your spreads elsewhere, though — cream cheese prices are a little ridiculous on a per-bagel basis.

This morning I woke up with a ravenous hunger and thought, man I wish I could find a good bagel. But alas, I moved to Texas, and finding a good bagel around here would be like finding a unicorn. I’m suddenly homesick. So much cream cheese! Such delicious carbs! When I frequented this place way back when they always remembered me and and what I ordered. No matter how out of the way it is, I always make a point to stop here when I’m visiting home.
