The City of Lawrenceville, GA also happens to be the county seat for Gwinnett. Most of the county government and judicial buildings are located here as well as a beautiful 1885 historic courthouse just a few blocks away. This new park lays in the shadows of a gorgeous old church that chimes out every day around noon. Are you a fan of the town square in the movie ‘Back to the Future’? Lawrenceville is a lot like that. Modern, but with an old classic feel. The Lawrenceville Lawn has been under construction most of this year(2014) and finally opened just in the nick of time for Lawrenceville’s annual Rock’n Ribville Festival. Each year at the beginning of October the city plays host to a dozen or so BBQ vendors as well as a variety of other vendors from shaved ice and fresh squeezed lemonade to funnel cake, soaps & lotions. This year included a fun inflatable jump zone for kids called Ribletville(how cute). Lawrencville is a little city that knows how to throw a big festival. Many times during year there is something cool going on in the town square, but I’m pretty certain this park was specifically built with the idea of moving those festivals here. The park is equipped with a large sand volleyball court and modern playground for kids. There is also(as its name implies) a large grassy area perfect for picnics or the occasional outdoor concert. Today during the Ribville festival the stage was rockin’ with a variety of different bands. FINALTHOUGHT It is often asked on the Atlanta talk threads«where is the best place to live» in the Metro area. Folks in the city will make the suburbs seem like another country, but I’m here to tell you it is because of parks like this that you should want to move your family to Gwinnett. I love it here and this park with all of its community activities is just one of the many, many, many reasons why! It may be new now, but I promise you it will never get old!
