I ordered the curry chicken and rice & peas and it was delicious. The small portion is pretty large.

Food was so bland and they ran out of plantains at 7pm and refused to give us anything else and told us plantains are just complimentary. We told them we would buy them. We drove quite far to try their food, so it was disappointing. I was so starved I ate it anyway. They were short with my husband and obviously didn’t want him in there.

Ordered dinner here several days ago and it was terrible! The oxtails and rice tasted as if both were weeks old. Nothing was fresh and I will never go there again.

Ive been here a few times now, ive never dined in, always taking the food 2 go, but that shouldnt make a difference. All my experiences with this location have been subpar. As someone that was born and raised in Jamaica, i know what good island cuisine is. This was simply«okay» if I do dine in one day and the food somehow taste better then… ill edit my review

I am a NY Panamanian with a Trini wife. We know really good West Indian food and Jamaica Breeze can hold its own against the other restaurants in Atlanta. I love their salt fish and food on Saturdays. Enjoy this small hometown restaurant!

I work not too far from here and had previously seen a coworker get takeout from here so I thought that it would be nice to go for lunch with some friends one day. We arrive at noon on a Friday and the restaurant was fairly empty. The decorations pretty much gave away the fact that it was very much a local joint. I was the last to show up however, I was immediately greeted. The woman waiting on us presented me with a glass of water and very quickly brough out a cup of soup which I still can’t complete distiguish. I ordered a lunch special Jerk Wings which came with rice, a cabbage side, and a slice of fried plantain. The first thing that I noticed was that the wings weren’t wings at all. This was fine but can be misleading to some. The seasoning and sauce on the wings were excellent. I like spicy food so it was just the right level of heat for me but if you don’t I suggest finding something a little milder. It also helps to mix the rice in with the sauce immediately. While the flavor was good, I thought the the meat was slightly overcooked. The rice was a fair large portion but being Chinese, I’m accustomed to eating a lot of rice. The cabbage was excellent and not cooked to point of mesh. One of my friends ordered the Curry chicken which looked excellent but I didn’t taste it. The other also ordered the Jerk Wings. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was on par. I didn’t see any tables that remained unbussed or anything just overly dirty. The waitress was fairly attentive and refilled our waters as needed. The fact that we were one of four tables in the restaurant helped a lot. It’s a nice quiet place. Their stewed meats mean that if you go for lunch you’ll have no problem getting back to work on time. The menu descriptions could be a little more detailed and they had a little difficulty working the credit card machine but nothing that took a significant amount of time. On the way out, I saw some desserts prepared in clam shells to go. I’d be interested in trying some next time but I can’t tell whether they’re made in house or from some one else locally. The labels suggest that outside work but then again people can do amazing things with home office supplies nowadays.

It’s not the first time I’m going here, but it’s the first time I’m attending their bunch. I went with my parents, so it was a nice outing after church. The owner, Joan, is always attentive, accommodating, and professional; she definitely makes sure you’re taken care of, but doesn’t overextend. The brunch itself was a varied buffet spread: salt mackerel, ackee and saltfish, bammy, boiled bananas, calaloo, boiled yam, boiled dumplings, fried dumplings, and cod fritters. Apparently there was liver too, but we’d missed it. Off to the sides, they have a hot beverage station and a fruit and cake station where unlike the main dishes — where an employee serves you for hygiene purposes, but perhaps also for portion control — one serves oneself. The cod fritters were a bit greasy, and at first seemed a bit tasteless, but I grew to like it and taste more of it with each bite. The ackee in the ackee and saltfish yielded a similar experience; maybe the ackee and calaloo were from a tin? The bammy, yam, bananas, and boiled dumplings were pretty on-point, though, but the fried dumplings were the stars. A treat for me was that despite my sensitive teeth, I had the cheesecake. The pineapple they had was nice and sweet. The grapes were all right. I didn’t get to have the cantaloupe because it kept sticking to the serving tray. The men’s restroom was decent, though I’d really, really, really have to be in a bind to *ever* number-two there. I do appreciate that the garbage can is next to the door for those of us who wish to not touch the handle after washing/drying our hands. All-in-all it was a nice experience. The ambience is homely, with Caribbean-flavor music in the background, and Joan’s demeanor and care for her customers adds to the delight. The food is all right and palatable, but I suppose because I’m Jamaican and grew up in a Jamaican household I’m used to the foods served in the buffet tasting different than what I’ve experienced. We’ll be coming back, though.

I absolutely LOVE their oxtails with rice and peas. The meat is so succulent and it just melts in your mouth. The gravy is just the right blend of spices and the rice and peas are perfect(not dry). I highly recommend giving them a try.

I would have given them 5 stars had the waitress not left us alone to for 30 minutes while she talked on her cell phone and sat on a stool watching disney channel. I had the brown stew chicken and it was absolutely delicious! the coco bread was warm and soft… The chicken soup was to die for. I would highly recommend this place… I just had a bad waitress at the time.
