Gwinnett Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine

My kids love coming to Gwinnett Peds. My first daughter has been with them for 12 years. From the front office staff, to the nursing staff, to the docs, they deliver top notch care. The doctors are all well trained and really care. We go to the Duluth office and like to stick with the same docs. They always take time with my kids and never seems to be in a rush to get us out. It’s a small office (despite the large practice) so it feels really warm there. The phone advice nurses are awesome and a great resource. I’m also happy that they have Saturday hours in Lawrenceville– it really helps to have them available on the weekend to avoid having to go to urgent care. We’ve had to go for X-​rays when my daughter was sick and it was so convenient that GMC was so close so we didn’t have to go far to get results right away.

If I were to just rate our Doctor, this would be 5 stars. The issue is getting sick appointments. I have twins; therefore, I need 2 appointments. I will take any doctor at any office as I know this is challenging. I called on Monday as soon as they opened, got a call back around lunch and was told the first appointment was not until Tuesday morning at one location and the second appointment was late Tuesday afternoon at a second location. That doesn’t work for me. I can’t run sick kids around town all day. The schedulers solution, then pick the sicker child. So, for availability for sick appointments I give 1 star for a total score of 3 stars.

They take very good care of my child. I can always get an appointment at the last minute. The doctors give great health tips. They have two separate waiting rooms, one for healthy kids and one for sick children.

Took my child in for a sick appointment and was scheduled with Dr. Jackson. She isn’t our primary pediatrician but the only one with openings (red flag). To start off she has terrible bedside manor. Didn’t make much eye contact or interact with my child. She was very direct and did not seem to have much compassion. The most concerning part was that she vocalized to me, a client, that she didn’t see her nurse practitioner as a «provider» and that she was the only one watching over everything. I am sure the hard working nurse practitioners would be so offended if they knew this. I definitely don’t plan on see Dr. Jackson again and will probably get better care with any of the nurse practitioners! I am giving her a 2 star because she was available to see my child but needs to work on compassion for children and parents.

This group of doctors is more interested in getting as much money as they can from you and your insurance than they are the actual care of your children. The office staff is surly most of the time and getting sick appointments are a nightmare. My 4 year old hurt his leg at pre-​K and the «educated» doctor at GPAM told us he «sprained» his ankle. Well, it turned out that he had actually broken his leg! He had a spiral fracture of his tibia! Then my teen daughter starts developing signs of asthma. The doctors there just kept giving her breathing treatments over and over. When I asked about getting a referral to a specialist, I was told that it wasn’t necessary. I ended up taking her to a pulmonologist and found out it was more severe than GPAM told us. She is now on the proper meds and does not need the «breathing treatments» anymore. This group is under equipped (no x-​rays) and the staff are pretending to be doctors. Avoid this place at all costs if you love your kids!

Bad experience with dr Tanner… I have never been treated so bad by a doctor before. i had to see her one day because dr Stickney was not in the office and my child was sick, with vomiting and
much as I tried to explain her that the child couldn’t hold anything, not even small sips of water, she wouldn’t even listened to me, only tried to get rid of me as quick as possible… I literally had to ask her to give me some medication for nausea because I didn’t want to wind up at Scottish Rite and pay a 2,000.00 bill just for 2 pills of Zofran. Obviously she didn’t like the fact that I asked for it and she threw me the prescription and left without saying goodbye… as I said I have never been treated like this before. this is unacceptable attitude from somebody who is supposed to be there for your child!!!

The worst place to bring your kids. After multiple problems at this office, the final straw was when my 15 month old son was turned away resulting in him being admitted to Scottish Rites ICU for 5 days. If you want to do what’s best for your kids, PLEASE… take them anywhere else.

What can I say? Dr. George Stickney is the best!
My wife and I have been coming to the Gwinnett Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine practice since our first almost turned one. We had our second now, so in all we have been coming here now for 3 years.
We have all met doctors who are in such a big rush to just hurry up, rush through and move on to the next room. I understand why, with all the busy schedules they have, not enough staff, but still, it destroys trust and prevents parents from asking questions. Being able to communicate with your child’s doctor and to be able to ask questions about concerns is important. The great thing is this does not happen here. Sometimes when the office is full, the wait can be a while, but still you are never felt rushed, at least with Dr. Stickney.
Dr. Stickney is definitely my favourite here. He really cares about his young patients, he always asks questions, and during our visits when I give my response, he actively listens and offers excellent suggestions, and I have to say, the guy is very cool too. He has recommended some really good books for both of the kids, creams for their skin and if I have a concern, he gives me his honest opinion if it is something that I should be worried about, or not. So I take his advice highly. He is the perfect example of what a pediatric doctor should be with his excellent doctor-​patient relationship approach. I feel that he treats my two kids the same as he would treat his own and that is important. If I have a few questions, he will make sure he answers them all and thoroughly, before leaving the room. That is good service.
The office staff here is very friendly. When our kids have become sick, they have always been quick at allowing us to get an appointment on a short term notice and that is important. If there is something urgent, you can visit on Saturdays, and that is very helpful.
When it is time for the «needle» yes, I said it… Probably most adults dislike them too. The nurses who do the blood and shots here are friendly and have a good sense of humor too.
I have only good things to say about this place and hopefully it stays that way. I highly recommend them.

I’ve been coming here since I was born! The doctors are always amazing, along with the front desk staff. They take the time to listen and do what they can to fix the problem. Susie Aspinwall and Dr. Tanner are GREAT!

We love it here. I have 3 kids and this practice came recommended to me from a friend. We have since moved to Fulton County and we make the drive to Lawrenceville to see Dr. Smiley who my kids adore!
Sometime the appointment call line has a bit of a wait but definetely worth it.

My family and I have been at GPAM for 25 years now. I’ll be 21 in November and still see them. I won’t leave until I have to! Their adolescent/​teen center is fabulous. I LOVE the staff– doctors and nurses actually listen to you! I am quite partial to the nurse practitioner Susie Aspinwall — we always have a good gab-​session to catch up when I go. They’re very accommodating and try to squeeze you in if you really need to be seen. The pediatrics side is very cute and kid-​friendly.
It is also very worth noting that they have 3 locations! This is a family-​friendly place, and they’ll see your kids from newborn to college!

This is the Doctors office everyone dreams of for their family. When I say they went over and beyond any expectations I had. On Monday I took my 1yr old daughter after her having a fever of 103 for 3 days. They listened to her lungs and took a mucus test and the results came back that she had the flu. They then called over to a place (right across the parking lot) to get x-​rays. They took x-​rays then sent us back for results and said she had pneumonia as well. They gave her an antibiotic shot in her left leg and instructed us to take motrin and tylenol to break the fever and told us also to come in the next day for a follow up. They were so nice it felt as if a family member was taking care of her. That night I discovered a rash on her left buttock (she normally gets diaper rash easily b/​c of her sensitive skin) but this time I felt it and it was as hard as a rock. So I took her in the next day and told them about it and they took her temp and it was still 103. They referred us to Childrens Hospital of Atlanta (which I will be writning a review on soon) Scottish Rite to the ER. Thank God this office and especially the nurse practitioner Kris noticed things and didn’tjust say Oh it’ll be fine after some rest… they actually cared… we found out in the right amount of time that my baby was positivefor MRSA! Thank you Jesus I found these people and didn’t go anywhere else b/​c I’ve heard horror stories on cases such as these. Then on her 2cnd day in the hospital, she received 2 stuffed animals and 2 balloons that brightened her day even though she was extremely weak. I had to travel 20 – 25 minutes for this place from my home but as far as I am concerned this place to me is also HOME… and Family ;-) P. S. I went to the location in Braselton off of Hamilton Mill.
