DONOTUSEBLUEROOSTERFORSPECIALCAKESOREVENTS. I used to love this place. Found them on Unilocal when we first moved to the area and loved their lunches and baked goodies. I will say their lunch menu is pretty short, but tasty. We were in there one day and I asked to talk to a baker about our daughter’s 1st birthday cake. Spoke with Madison… she seemed eager and excited to help. We talked about the design we wanted which was a 3D dog made of fondant on a buttercream cake… I showed her some ideas on pinterest. She loved them and said it would be no problem. Fast forward to the week of her birthday party, I could not get in touch with Madison regarding finalizing the cake and paying them a deposit. She would not call or email me back. I felt like I was hunting her down for days… and started to get nervous. I finally called AGAIN on Thursday(party Saturday) and got her on the phone. She said everything was good to go and she had all the design specifications and colors. The day of the party my husband picked up the cake and brought it straight to the venue we were having the party. I nearly cried when he opened the box. It was a drawn on puppy dog and dog house. He had no idea it was wrong b/c he was not involved in the design process and he even tipped them $ 20. I called that day and said how upset I was the cake was not as discussed and that I asked someone in management to call me back(was looking for an explanation and possibly a partial refund or credit toward future purchase) because they did not give us what we asked. NOONEEVERCALLEDBACK! I’ve not gotten this bakery to call me back ONE time throughout this whole process. Then I emailed and facebook messaged them telling them I was upset and needed someone to call me. I got one short email reply from Kyle who I think is in management saying that the cake was«cute» and that they couldn’t do the fondant(no explanation why) and an offer for free lunch. I replied and nicely asked them to call me instead of going back and forth over email… I loved this place and wanted to understand why the fondant didn’t work and why no one called that morning or explained to my husband why the original design wouldn’t work. NOCALLEVER! That is why I am writing this review. This place might be okay for a drop in lunch or dessert, but do not use them for any special events or cakes. Apparently they do wedding cakes, and baby shower cakes, etc. I just can’t imagine being that stressed out again over their total lack of customer service and communication. I will never go back after the way were treated. We spent over $ 150 on everything for baby’s birthday(i.e. cake, cupcakes, and smash cake). It is very disappointing they didn’t value our business enough to call us back one time and offer a little customer service.

We ordered a cookie with frosting, and a lemon bar. Almost $ 9. Yes, Almost $ 9. Worth maybe half what they charge. They were both astoundingly mediocre. When a very hungry, has not had lunch yet, nine year old boy with a hollow leg for a stomach does not want to finish a cookie with frosting, it must really be bad. My lemon bar was mostly crust with an artificial tasting lemon flavored top. Tasted like margarine crust. Krusteaz makes a better boxed product than this overpriced fare. The 90 on the food score was barely acceptable to me for this type establishment.

I don’t think any goodness of food can make up for the incredibly rude, unwelcoming and unhelpful staff. I’ve been here twice to be sure it wasn’t just an off day, and both times with different employees I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. I should have said something then, but I didn’t want to be as rude. What a horrible waste of space and good food. Don’t go unless you can tolerate that kind of thing. Apparently this hasn’t been a unique experience to me either as I’ve mentioned it to local friends and find they either agree with me or beat me to the frustration.

Most excellent had the sliced turkey on marbled rye and a side of macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was the best I have ever had. The turkey was like it was sliced right off the breast. A test for me is if a restaurant has good sweet tea and I was not disappointed, it was wonderful. Now I did not at this time try the baked goods but they looked sooooooooo good and I can not wait to go back when my sweet tooth flares up.

Outstanding selection. The peanut butter cookie dipped in chocolate is sinully delicious. They do a great job on birthday cakes and my family enjoys the cake pops.

My favorite lunch place on the Lawrenceville square. I almost always get the same thing when I go — chicken salad on croissant — it’s my fave! They have a large selection of baked goods and everything is HUGE. Like you can eat half one day and the other half the next day… if you can wait that long. :) They also do coffee drinks. It gets really busy at lunch!

While the service hasn’t always been the fastest, the food has always been excellent. There is a huge variety of freshly baked treats every day. I’ve never been disappointed with any item I’ve purchased. For the past couple of years, we’ve ordered anniversary cakes from Blue Rooster. The orders were ready when promised, and the cakes were just gorgeous! My husband isn’t a huge fan of sweets, but he enjoyed the cakes from BR. I stop in as often as I can.

Came in for lunch today and ordered a turkey sandwhich with a potato salad. Food wasn’t bad, but I don’t know if I’d pay 8 bucks for a sandwhich and a side of potato salad. I also ordered a brownie which I was so excited to eat! But turned out to be stale and dry. not the chewy fudgy brownie I wanted. :(service wasn’t friendly either. :(sadly I don’t think I’ll be back for lunch.

This is a quaint and homey little lunch spot nestled in the heart of downtown Lawrenceville not far from where I work, so I’ve been here on my lunch hour a few times. The aura and décor is bright and very small town inn-ish, and I mean that in a good way. The people are generally friendly and the food is pretty good, but not knock-your-socks-off amazing. Their calling card is their chicken salad sandwich, while very good, I actually liked their potato salad even better. The sandwiches all have a very simple but homemade look and taste. As for the sweets… well, I’m a hearty eater, and I do love my share of sweets but I feel Blue Rooster’s desserts/baked treats are very delicious but a little too sweet. And If you know me and how I eat, that’s really saying something. Their famous strawberry cake while very delicious, I felt like I was about to have a sugar coma afterward. But that’s just me, others may feel differently. Also I do feel that the prices can be kind of high especially if you get a dessert to go with your lunch. But all in all I give it a solid 4 stars, for atmosphere and tasty food; but with the prices I wouldn’t come here too frequently.

I think it’s delicious. Best chicken salad I’ve ever had and pasta salad deeelish! Space is cute and comfy, nice enough to sit for a little while and cool off from the heat. I do have 2 suggestions, put a water pitcher out for guests to serve themselves and get rid of that terrible fake cream on the condiment bar. I know more and more places are switching to the fake stuff, but no place that serves that junk is a legit coffee bar. Real cream please!

The service is slow. It’s a bit pricey for lunch. Portions are adequate. I ordered chicken salad, pasta salad and fresh fruit. The chicken salad is their claim to fame and is pretty good. I think Costco does a better job. The pasta salad is tasty but a bit soggy for my taste. It’s nice that they use several varieties of pasta giving it nice texture. The fruit was perfect. The pastries look good, but I really didn’t want to wait in line again. Maybe next time.

Delicious food and nice folks. We stopped in for a small breakfast and we ordered the ham and cheese croissant. It was simple, yet delicious. The croissant was flaky and soft. I had an iced coffee and my husband had a hot Milky Way coffee. Both were delicious. It was around 9 am when we went so it was too early for sweets. We got some to go though and they look and smell delicious. We did have some of the cream horn and it was too good. This is more of a lunch kind of place. The lunch menu is very expansive and we will be back next weekend to try the chicken salad lunch box. I must also comment on how nice and professional the people working here are. They were very nice and patient with everyone.

Adjusting the review a little bit. Sandwich is still great and so are their cookies and sides. I finally turned around to try their breakfast menu, in my case, croissant and ham, and decided to deduct one star. Nothing too much to say, it wasn’t great, and it wasn’t bad by any means. Just plain ordinary stuff you can make at home with Costco’s croissant and cut of a ham. Had I not been looking forward to their breakfast, maybe just maybe I would have kept it at four stars, but nah. Also for the deduction of the star is for their coffee. Maybe I was the first one to order the coffee but the smell of the coffee was a definite turn off. Tasted a bit weird and funky smell. I didn’t bother talking to the lady at the counter. I noticed it few times now but the lady at the counter mumbles quite few times and if I heard it correctly, she’s just mumbling random rants about who she works with. She isn’t to a point where I’ll say she’s not friendly, but I can definitely see her getting to the level. I wish the best of the business, and will still occasionally stop by to grab a sandwich or desserts but probably no more breakfast from here.

I used to go to the Blue Rooster when it was in old town Lilburn, and it hasn’t changed a bit. I obviously had their legendary Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was heavenly! Although I miss them being in their old location(which across the street from my job now), their new location on the square is perfect. The decorations are adorable and its just quaint! I also ordered the raspberry white chocolate latte… YUMS!!! I need that in my life everyday and all day. It was semi sweet but not over the top. Hot but not scolding hot. It was just plain delicious and I recommend it to everyone. It is the perfect place to have brunch at or to take mom on Mother’s Day. I will be going back there as soon as I get down to the square again.

This place is very quaint and decorated very nicely. It was fairly busy for a Saturday. My husband and I both ordered the box lunch with pasta salad. I had a chicken salad sandwich and my husband had pimento cheese. Chicken salad was decent but nothing special. The pimento cheese was awesome tho! I had the chocolate chip cookie and my husband had a brownie, both were delicious. They had a ton of desserts which i would like to go back and try sometime, along with their coffee. Our total for lunch was $ 23 plus tip. I will definitely go back.

Consistency is key and one of the wonderful things about this place. It’s a family favorite, great for lunch. I’d suggest the option where you can try three things or the chicken salad sandwich, easily one of their best dishes. They also have a plethora of desserts, among them cakes, cookies, and brownies. A bit expensive, but since they’re all baked fresh, it’s worth it.

Once again, score for lawrenceville downtown. This place situated behind the courthouse looking building has some decadent homemade desserts the owner is really friendly. She makes everything herself. The prices are reasonable. I propose trying the strawberry cupcake, strawberry bar, sugar cookie sandwich. Actually try everything here. Some of the frosting can be a tad sweet but the moistness of the cupcakes make up for it. Highly recommended. Street parking mostly. They also serve coffee.

I didn’t love the Blue Rooster, yet it’s not really their fault. See I’m a guy:) I went here with a colleague for lunch. The décor was nice, white on white, with the Blue Rooster icon here and there. It’s got a bit of a country cottage feel to the place. The menu had some nice sandwiches, salads and soups. The waitstaff pleasant and polite. The restaurant had about 15 tables, ½ of the filled with politely conversing and fashionable ladies. I think Oprah would love this place! I’m not trying to be fresh. it was really very nice. Yet so is the sweater you get from Nana every Christmas. Take her here, maybe your mom too, they will love it:)

Yummy sandwiches and desserts. This is a cute little shop with a very friendly staff. There are a ton of dessert choices. I tried the strawberry cake and it was excellent. We also sampled the white chocolate chip and a peanut butter cookie. Delicious. I take half a star for the use of styrofoam for the dine in experience. It seems like the place would benefit from the use of real plates because it doesn’t feel cheap until you get this great dessert on a styrofoam plate. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch.
