They updated to the new menu screen & speakers, its nice. But… why they ask you to speak louder? This is the 3rd time I’ve been here and the server taking your order can’t hear. So was it worth getting the new equipment?

This Sonic is great. Love stopping here on the way back to KC for a Route 44 Dr. Pepper after KU football or basketball games. They load up the bacon toaster breakfast sandwich with bacon too. Good cheeseburgers with fresh toppings. Service is quick and friendly. They always offer to add chili to my tots too. I haven’t taken them up on this yet.

Great service from Dustin tonight. Live in Eudora, and definitely a step up from that one!

A Sonic shake after the KU game seemed like what I needed to make the trip back to the OP. Service was quick and bit goofy. The shake was too thick. Sonic shakes always are. And the stuff on top isn’t whipped cream; I’ve seen it maintain its shape after sitting on a hotel dresser overnight. But I knew all that. The peanut butter shake wasn’t mixed well at all. Gobs of «peanut butter» were stuck to the bottom of the cup. Kinda gross. Should have gotten a cherry limeade.

Typical Sonic. Stopped here for drinks yesterday and today. Yesterdays carhop did the brief wait for a tip, today’s didn’t. Drinks are on point as always at Sonics. Tried a root beer with vanilla and cherry today and was pretty impressed with the flavors. Generally I go to McD’s if stopping and getting a drink, especially if the pug is with me so I don’t leave him in the car. A lot of Sonics will charge me to get a small water for him and that is a booo! Also, I don’t like how they overload the ice. I know a lot of people like the small ice, but they pack it in the cups guessing to compensate for the half price drink hours.

To give you an idea, my commute between my office in Lawrence and house in JoCo takes me past this Sonic twice a day for the past 4 years. I have never once stopped here until yesterday. To say I am not a huge Sonic fan is an understatement. But come on, it was 75 degrees when I bailed out of work early. For some reason, a chocolate shake sounded delicious for my drive home. Knowing I was going running when I got home made the decision even easier. It was surprisingly busy at about 3pm on this Monday, but I assume because of(a) the weather, and(b) the happy hour specials they have. I pressed the magic red button to order and was immediately acknowledged. My order of a hot fudge shake came out very quickly(like 2 minutes, maybe) by the ever so friendly car hop. I was also tempted to get one of the happy hour food specials(99 cents for 2 mozzarella sticks, a small tater tot, or a couple other things) but decided not to. Funny thing is that a small tater tot is $ 1.00, but during happy hour it’s $ 0.99. BOOKTHECRUISE! My shake was really quite tasty. It was rich but not sickeningly so, and seemed to go on forever, despite the«small» size and price of $ 3.50 or so with tax. I felt it was worth my money, since it really comes out to $ 0.88 for every year I have driven past this Sonic without stopping.
