Scooptopia provides a unique experience from other ice cream shops in that all frozen dessert products (ice cream, gelato, and sorbetto) are made homemade onsite. All of our frozen desserts are made with milk or cream from New England dairy farms. Specialty ice creams include: Chocolate (made from imported European cocoa), Coffee (made from fresh brewed coffee) and Root Beer Float (made from root beer extract from Vermont). All gelato is flavored with ingredients imported from Italy and include Pistachio, Biscotti Cookie and Chocolate Hazelnut. Our Sorbet is made with fresh fruit and is fat free and dairy free. Sorbet flavors include Strawberry, Lemon, Watermelon and Cantaloupe to name a few.
History
Established in 2011.
Scoooptopia is a family-owned microcreamery. The owners, Karen & Frank Small, purchased their first ice cream maker in 2006. They perfected their recipes through the feedback of family and friends who tasted their unique and fresh frozen dessert creations. Karen & Frank both attended the Ice Cream 101 course at Penn State University and Frank attended the Carpiagani Gelato school in North Carolina. They opened their first shop in 2011 within Downtown Java Joe’s coffeehouse in Methuen Square. In 2014 they moved their shop to the Riverwalk Mills property in Lawrence.

Business Owner
Karen grew up in the Merrimack Valley and currently resides with her husband and 4 children in Methuen. Karen previously worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Winchester Hospital. She has always loved ice cream and dreamed of starting her own ice cream and frozen dessert business. Karen started making homemade ice cream over 8 years ago in her home and eventually transitioned her career to start Scooptopia in 2011. Her love and passion for frozen desserts is tasted in her unique sorbetto, gelato, and ice cream recipes.
