Stopped in here around 11 last night(Sat night) and the place is a typical college hangout bar. Ordered a Boulevard Wheat that came in a small plastic cup for $ 6. What a ridiculous price for beer when you basically can go over to Free State and get much higher quality for $ 4.25. Soon after we arrived, they started charging a cover charge. For what? Your crappy jukebox music? Probably won’t ever be back here.

Came in from out of town and was expecting more. So sad, new menu and no vegetarian soups! Soup was sub par and the sandwich was average. Server messed our order up after repeating we had a vegetarian at the table. Please bring back the old menu. Like the old Quintons better.

Try to come here when in town. Usually very very good. Tonight food was average and service was not so good. Hot place, didn’t have my kind of beer and the one I did get was HOT. Disappointed. The server was more concerned with her guy friends at bar than waiting on the multiple tables of people.

I’ve lived in Lawrence for seven years and never had been here before. Glad that I stopped in tonight. The service was great and I liked the selection on the menu. The food is really good too. Above and beyond your typical bar food. I had the chicken salad sandwich and thought it was excellent. I would definitely come back here again.

Quinton’s is a fine place to get a good lunch at a reasonable price. On President’s Day, my buddy Matt F. and I had a busy morning and early afternoon slugging it out over a board game to determine who would be the winner of the Cold War. The game was Twilight Struggle, and I trounced him while playing as Russia. Following the Red-Handed smackdown, we decided that some lunch was in order. After debating a few options, we headed for Quinton’s. I’ve visited Quinton’s off and on over the years, sometimes for the food, sometimes for the drinks and for the nightlife, and sometimes for the special events at the upstairs bar. On our way, I realized that I probably hadn’t been to Quinton’s in several years. It was around 3:00 in the afternoon, and it was mostly open, considering it was well after the lunch hour, before the dinner hour, and it was cold as hell outside. We slipped into a booth and the waitress brought us menus. Matt had been thinking about a half sandwich and a soup, and I agreed that getting one of those was a pretty good idea. The typical soup on the menu was the potato bacon, which Matt ordered. I opted for the soup of the day, the tomato basil. I also ordered a half Rueben, spicy chips, and a beer. Matt also ordered a half sandwich, regular chips, and a beer. Our waitress came back at least once to verify just what we had ordered. In a little while we get our drinks, and then our food comes out. The sandwiches are generously portioned, the Rueben has a thick cut of rye, and is piled with corned beef and sauerkraut. The soups are in a breadbowl, which is effectively a small round loaf of bread that has had about 1.5 cups worth of volume removed from the middle and is filled with soup(and this removed core is on the side). Chips are small bagged chips(though Matt received loose chips, as I’ll explain). While the food was good, the service was so-so. Not only did our server need to come back to confirm just what we had ordered(I cannot remember if she wrote it down, but needing to confirm it afterward makes me think she did not initially write it down), but when it came out it was wrong — Matt had ordered plain chips and received a bag of spicy, and I had ordered the tomato basil soup and instead received the potato bacon. I sent mine back to the kitchen, and I really think they just pulled the breadbowl off the plate and replaced it with a different one(not sure how up-and-up that is with food codes, but I was hungry and not one to complain when I received the right food). The waitress took Matt’s chip bag back and brought him back a basket with plain chips, but loose. I’m not entirely sure what this means in the context of service — perhaps spicy chips come individually packaged but plain chips come in bulk. Having chips in two different formats was a just struck me as odd. Regardless of what happened, that it did happen and when there were virtually no other distractions in the entire restaurant(we were one of 2 or 3 tables seated) is unsettling from a service perspective. All in all it was a fine filling lunch. A big sandwich, a soup served in a breadbowl the size of a softball, and a bag of chips for under $ 10 is a pretty good deal. Finally, even though we weren’t there for afternoon drinking, the drink special was Rock Lobster shots, and as we sat there the B-52s song came on, so we ordered a pair to toast the afternoon.

Do you like dry bread? Do you like average soup and sandwiches? This place is great for that! Also, if you wanna go out for a night of fun and a few drinks… Don’t go here. Scenario: it’s Friday night, work all week was pretty terrible so I’m trying to enjoy a nice adult beverage or five. Bartender: What can I get ya? Me: I’ll take a shot of tequila(on special) and a double captain Bartender: oh, sorry we don’t have any tequila or dark rum Me: ok… I’ll take double jack Daniels then(his lack of choices sent me directly to the saddened whiskey stage. Luckily the bartender helped me out there as well) Bartender: oh, sorry we don’t have any jack Daniels. I can get you some well whiskey if you’d like that instead Me: This place is a bar with no booze. This place is a restaurant with subpar food and inattentive staff. I give it only one star because it’s in Lawrence and Lawrence rules.

Awesome food! Lazy staff. They don’t attend your table enough. Staff sits and talks and play on there cell phones. Bathrooms are dirty, and have graffiti everywhere.

Quintons is a bar first and foremost and a restaurant second, and as a bar geared towards college indulgence the food and wait staff reflect this. The service the last few times I have been there is severely lacking. Five waiters, three tables of patrons and yet we had very long waits to get our orders, get our check, or any other service due to the entire service staff being entranced by their phones and ignoring the rest of the world. The food itself is subpar, characterized primarily by poor bread quality. Unremarkable bread yields lackluster food when the primary options are sandwiches and bread bowls for soup. If you do eat here the best bet, and what saves this from being a one star review, is the spinach dip and for a sandwich the TAC – turkey, avocado, cream cheese. If only the bread could match these toppings it would be a delectable sandwich.

Wow. It’s been a while since I’ve been here but I remembered the food as always being good; no longer! The two at our table that got sandwiches were not completely dissatisfied… they were just okay, but edible. The soup, however, was terrible. Served in a stale bread bowl that holds about ¾ cup of soup(no, not exaggerating). My daughter and I ordered two kinds… she the potato, and I the«special» which was chicken tortilla. Awful on both counts. We couldn’t manage to eat even the tiny amount served. Service was so-so. We won’t be back.

So I have been coming here since I was a little kid and I have always gotten the same thing! Now 15 years later they change there menu and get rid of the 2 most popular sandwiches on the menu! The chicken salad and the Loretta! My friends and I are so disappointed. The waitress then tells us they have the stuff to make them but wont! So looks like I won’t be back here! So sad

So I keep hearing that you can actually go to Quinton’s when it’s light out? Well let’s just say this review will be based entirely on their night life. Being a college student, I have frequented many of the bars downtown, and I have to say that for a very long time my Junior year, Q’s was the place I went the most. The drink specials aren’t as good as they used to be. Around a year ago they dropped their dollar nights they would have on Thursdays. Regardless, I still loved getting to head over to the upperclassmen bar. Once turning 21, the night life tends to shift away from the The hawk and Brothers, and over to places like Qs. You wont have to worry about walking in and wondering if there was a high school field trip to the bar planned for that evening. The crowd at Q’s is a very«chill» one. Not being over burdened by one specific type of people like the hawk, the wheel and the bull tend to be… Quinton’s has one main area when you walk in that serves as a dining room during the day time. At night the place tends to get a bit crowded with all of the high top tables in the place. Because of this, I usually head straight outside to the patio where it is a little more open. The down side to the awesome patio is that the bar out there only accepts cash… I cant count the number of times I have had to leave the bar in search of the ATM up the street to grab out some dollar bills. Which is another point, the place doesnt have an ATM! That just doesnt make sense to me. I feel like it would be common practice and good business to have an ATM in a bar for all of the drunk patrons to use so they can continue to hand over their cash in exchange for beverages. Oh well… So, Q’s also boasts of an up stairs, which has another patio, and then in side an Ice bar! When I first heard of the place, I thought it was going to be an entire bar made of ice. Not really… Just a bar top of ice. although not as cool as I thought it would be, its still pretty awesome, and serves to keep your berverages cold while youre there. The upstairs has more of a club atmosphere, which I tend to enjoy. In all, quintons is a great place to enjoy a night out(be it Quesday ;)) no matter what kind of a scene you are looking for. The bar downstairs serves as the local pub feel, they have a patio for the open air drinking, and even the clubish environment up stairs. 4 stars because the bathrooms in the place are lacking, the drink specials are nothing to gawk at, and to be honest, its kind of difficult to get to being on 6th and Mass.

Great food during the day. The bartender that looks like Ben afleck is a huge douchebag all the time though. Avoid him like the plague for a good experience. Everything else is fine. But seriously, avoid this chump. 5 stars if it weren’t for this guy.

I have only been to the bar. Very fun for a college bar, lots of room, but it is definitely a hot spot at KU-has multiple levels, outside and inside seating, and multiple bars.

The atmosphere here is much better than the Waldo location, but the service is definitely lacking. It’s always slow! Specials are good and sandwiches are huge. I like the T.A.C…turkey, avocado, and cream cheese. I think it could use less cream cheese though because it sometimes overpowers the rest of the flavors. I get it with the spicy chips, which are oh so good. Here is one thing that I have noticed. The cheap tap beer is always colder than other beers on tap. I’m not sure if it has something to do with the storage or not. There is a decent sized patio out back. Prices are reasonable and it’s a decent place to grab a bite to eat.

The food here is good and priced fairly. I’m a huge fan of the TAC sandwich. Delicious soups in bread bowls. Service can be a little slow, but it’s staffed by 19 year old college girls. At night, this place totally different, and is the best at what they try to be, a college bar. Unlike other establishments in Lawrence, I feel like anyone can come to Q’s and have a great time. Very good drink specials and a good atmosphere. One establishment I’m going to miss dearly after leaving Lawrence.

I stopped by for lunch. I haven’t had the best service here during other visits but today I had the best service at the bar. The bartender was super nice and very attentive. I split a sandwich, the«Mangino», sans cheese on our choice of rye. It is large enough to share and still feel full. The sandwich is layers of savory pastrami, cole slaw and sweet Russian Dressing. I was suprised with the perfect combination of flavors. Also, it was a bit messy so get plenty of napkins. In my opinion, their Jameson pricing is two thumbs up inexpensive and the bartender poured well. A huge plus. All in all, I had a good lunch experience and will visit again when in town.

Ok, so the food itself seemed pretty decent. Several varieties of sandwiches, many of which looked pretty tastey. Mine was meh. Well, let me rephrase, the /filling/was excellent, but they burnt the toast the sandwich came on. Now, to be fair, if it had been a blackened chicken sandwich it would have been fitting, but it was a philly so it didnt’ quite work. Normally I would have given them a 3 star review for a mistake in the kitchen, we all know that everyone makes mistakes and things happen. Not a big deal. What /is/a big deal is a waitress snapping at a customer. I understand that everyone has a bad day, for a variety of reasons, but when a customer has to ask /three/(3) times for a glass of water, especially one that is with a group of marathon runners and everyone at the table is tired and dirty and very thirsty and everyone else has a drink, it is not, I repeat NOT, okay to snap at said customer with an angry«I’m /getting/it!» Now if I had asked three times while everyone was placing their order, I can understand getting annoyed. If I had been angry or rude or used vulgar language, it would be understandable. But when I asked once when I sat down, once again after placing my order, and once yet again after my food has arrived and I /still/have no water, snapping back at me was the wrong move. I understand that the waitress might have been new, or stressed about other things and just snapped at the wrong person, and that’s why rather than taking it to a manager and trying to get her punished or fired which is just petty, we all have bad days. Not that I could see a manager around anywhere to complain to if I had so chosen, I saw only the one that had been rude, and another that spent her time flirting with a table of young gentlemen. Instead I just used the tool that many patron of restaurants seem to have forgotten is an option. A tip is not a requirement, it is earned. If the service is bad, the tip is bad. And vice versa. And I’m sure that she did not see my low tip as a rebuke for her attitude, but as an attack against her that justifies her responce I am also adding this rather long negative review that I’m sure will never be read. And I’m okay with that.

Quinton’s is a must visit everytime my KU alum boyfriend and I visit Lawrence. Can I just say-THE best spinach artichoke dip ever-so simple but so perfect! Of course their yummy bread bowl soups and aMAZing sandwiches are not to be forgotten. My fav is the Mangino on rye-tons of pastrami with swiss cheese, a sweet coleslaw, and a very tasty Russian mustard-love, love, love! Get the ½ sandwich and breadbowl combo and you get a little taste of both!
