These People stole our money. we had a contract left a deposit ! Morrell cashed our check days after filing for ch.11.
I cant believe there are scum people out there who would do such a thing to innocent engaged couple’s.
We suffered heartache loss and disappointment, We lost enough $$ we were not sure we could even plan a wedding. Carlyle of Lawrence took over and now the new catering hall.
they exceed’ our expectations after all we went through.
I hope Morrell Caterers gets what he deserves.

Thanks to Chris, Scott and Morrell Caterers our wedding truly was a dream come true. Every last detail was absolutely PERFECT. The food was phenomenal and our guests are still raving about the cocktail hour, tasting menu, atmosphere and service almost a month later. The cocktail room and ball room are both stunning and the food is unreal. The dessert parade made mouths drop (and water) and the good bye table really wowed everyone and made the most unbelievable lasting impressed at the end of a PERFECT night!

The «More» or «Morre» in Morrell was evident at our daughter’s wedding on Saturday July 14^th at Temple Israel of Lawrence. Our friends and family are still calling with rave reviews, all including the word «best» in all categories
Chris Drago and his distinguished crew took the entire affair to Infinity… And Beyond. Not only was the Wedding incredible in depth of Beauty, Taste, and Elegance, but The Morrell Team was wonderful to work with from beginning to end. The plans for our special day were clearly presented, with options offered, and we felt comfortable all throughout the process. This allowed us to enjoy not only the party, but the planning stages as well as Chris, Sharon and others in the organization supported us. Kevin, The Bridal Chaperone was an invaluable addition not only to our daughter, but to the whole affair.
Scott Morrell himself joined us during the cocktail hour, and his hands-​on approach to insuring excellence was apparent, as we spoke about the incredible evening that had just started to unfold before our eyes, enchanting all who attended.

We just had our wedding at Temple Israel– it was phenomenal. The food was amazing– everything from the cocktail hour to the three course meal was beautiful and delicious. People are still talking how incredible the food was– and luckily they were nice enough to pack up lots of leftovers for us so we got to eat plenty of the foods we missed during the wedding.
The sanctuary is just magical. We barely had to decorate– just some candles, orchid petals and a beautiful chuppah– the room is so beautiful on it’s own that it needs very little.
The cocktail lounge and ballroom are modern and classy yet have exquisite old world touches. People were floored by the shock of going from this beautiful, old sanctuary to such an incredible, modern party space.
The staff there were first rate. We never had to worry about a thing as we were very well cared for by all of the staff. I highly recommend getting the butler (we had Kevin, who was wonderful). I seriously could not say enough positive things about Morrell. My sister got married at one of their other synagogues (Temple Beth Torah) and it was equally as classy and beautiful.

I don’t know who designed the cocktail lounge and ballroom at Temple Israel, but WOW! The rooms are amazing. The mixture of old world fixtures with sleek modern lines was pure elegance. It’s simply the best space I’ve seen for a wedding.
The food, though, doesn’t quite live up to its surroundings. The smörgåsbord was a little uneven, but there were so many choices (this was a high end wedding) I easily found a few items that pulled me back in for seconds.
The main dinner started strong. The grouper cake (the kosher version of crab cakes) was quite good. It was paired with an elegant and delicious salad. It went slowly downhill from there. Eat subsequent course dropped in quality. By the time dessert rolled around, there wasn’t much point to it. Granted, the white chocolate dome was beautiful to behold. But, it was all flash and no taste.
I suppose some allowances must be made for the lack of dairy in all the desserts. But, come on people, it’s not that hard to make a superior non-​dairy vanilla ice cream. I do it all the time. (Honestly, I do.) First tip: use real vanilla. This is a high end affair, you know. The only reason to cut corners on the dessert is because you assume the guests are too wasted from 4 hours of open bar to notice.
And, we have to talk about that pathetic wedding cake. First of all, it was ugly. I understood the modern design and all, but modern doesn’t have to be quite so severe. I hate to tell you, but it tasted worse than it looked. One bite and I cast that cake aside with the pretty but flavorless white chocolate dome and the even blander bread pudding.
So, why have I given the 3 stars considering how they botched my most favorite part of the meal? Because the ballroom and cocktail lounge are stunning. You’d be hard pressed to find a more elegant space for an event. Just make sure you get the the best booze package you can (they do make amazing martinis). You’ll need it compensate for the blah desserts.
