Read all the reviews and had to try it out — especially since every time I’m in the shopping center complex it smells amazing! It did not disappoint! I had the brisket platter with sweet potatoes and greens. The sweet potatoes had an awesome crunchy caramelized top. So good! My husband had the pulled pork platter and loved it. We both had leftovers for a second meal the next day and it was just as good day two. Next time I want to try the fried chicken and ribs. There will definitely be a next time.

Visiting from San Francisco for the Christmas holidays. After visiting friends my wife and I had a desire for some BBQ. After perusing the menu I decided on the Fried Chicken(just for kicks). Hands down … the best fried chicken(well seasoned, moist and large portions) for the price point I’ve EVER eaten(family included). Service was exceptional, prompt and warm. More like family! Thank you Pam? My recommendation without blinking is you owe it to yourself to try a meal Rochester BBQ. One bite and YOU’LLBEHOOKED. I wish there was a Rochester BBQ in our area. One can only hope!

Came here on a whim, and I am glad that I did. The place is so cozy, warm and friendly. The service was great, and the food was perfect. I had the beef brisket, which was amazing, my wife had the pulled pork and it was crazy good. Sadly, we didn’t have room for dessert, but they had a live musician, Mike Corman, and it made the night all the better.

First visit to this establishment and the food is great. Only draw back is that the brisket was way too fatty. My dad had the fried whiting and it was delicious. My sister ordered the chopped pork and that was pretty good too…

We were visiting for the Columbus Day weekend, doing the touristy things around Philly and not really thinking about dinner. Went on the Open Table App and saw Rochester’s. We laughed, since we were visiting from Rochester, NY. Made our reservation for 7 pm. Not crowded at all. Staff was quite friendly. Ordered the shrimp and wings as appetizers. The shrimp was awesome, and the wings were the best I have ever had. Dinner came out, very very generous portions. Sweet potatoe pie and apple cobbler was great and home made. Everything was perfect. To top the night off, they had live music as well. Mike, a blind lawyer, was on the keyboards taking requests. Just a great night. Best BBQ I have ever had. Nice to meet the owners as well. Prices were just right.

My wife and I went here on a Thursday night. The place was completely empty so it was sort of peaceful. About halfway into the night 1 other couple came in and sat at a table next to us. I ordered a dark-meat chicken sandwich and my wife had fried chicken. Her meal was more of an entrée… it came with hushpuppies, potato salad, and sweet potatoes. She said it was delicious, and I can concur since I ate a thigh. I’m on the fence with my meal. If I ordered a chicken leg and breast, I would say my meal was excellent, but since I ordered a sandwich, I’m a bit confused. It was literally 2 pieces of bread with a chicken leg and chicken breast in the middle(bone included). I wasn’t really expecting that. We had the banana pudding for desert and it was AMAZING. All in all, I’d say this place is worth going to again.

I was told that I just had to try this place… So I did… Let me start with something positive… I really wanted to like this place… I went in with great expectations! The wait staff were courteous and cheerful. They are customer friendly and they were very attentive. Now for the food… My mother and I ordered the Whiting platter… first of all the whiting was NOTWHITING! Whiting is firm, and if you know how to fry it up right, it has a crispiness to it… this fell apart at first touch. Even with the thin batter, if it were whiting it would have not fell a part as soon as we looked at it, let alone picked it up with our forks. My Mother got the cole slaw… she said it was too chunky and had no flavor. I got the collard greens…(I’d been craving Collard Greens… I should have just made a pot). I kept looking for that smoky flavor in them… no smoke, no meat, tasted like they came out of a can. My family doesn’t do canned greens. We both got sweet potatoes… again…tasted like the can… we don’t do canned sweet potatoes. Would I go back? No! Why? Because I like to feel like I’m in someone’s kitchen when I go get soul food… I should have stayed at home and made my own!

I never write reviews… I will tonight. If you’re not here you should be. The food is great, the soul comes out in every bite. I had the beef ribs, best I’ve had in a while. No need for extra sauce or anything. They have a jazz band that makes me extra happy on this Friday summer night.

I am from Florida, visiting NJ on and off for the past 5 years; before moving to Voorhees 6 weeks ago. Rochester’s is the BESTDININGEXPERIENCE I have had in the northeast. The food was outstanding. I had the whiting, wife had the pulled chicken, daughter had the chicken fingers. We all were very, very pleased ! We took food home with us as we were not able to finish the portions. We went on a Friday at 7pm. There were some young guys playing jazz. When I say jazz, I mean JAZZ !! We were blown away ! Will I come back? I’m planning my lunch meal during the week before going back next weekend ! The first review was on Friday night. We went back on Sunday because our first visit HAD to be a fluke. ITWASNOT A FLUKE !!! This time we met the manager, the chef and the rest of the staff. I can’t say enough about their service and the food. I look forward to working my way through the entire menu.

This place was amazing!!! Our family was really tired of the eating choices on the turnpike during our road trips that we decided to get off the path and check this place out. The ribs were out of this world. The food is large portioned and tasted so great. Super hot too. I wished the food would’ve come faster, but our waitress was really nice and friendly. Can’t wait till we get to go back.

My husband and I often try new restaurants through social Media coupons offers. I purchased a $ 90 value coupon from an online social media company for Rochester Bbq. The coupon was purchased March 31, 2015 with. July 29, 2015 expiration date. No restrictions anywhere on the coupon. Excited to try something new, we called today to make a reservation for tonight. My hsuband stated we had a coupon. He was told that they are no longer accepting these coupons and to go back to the social media company for a refund-REALLY? We have trying new restaurants through coupon purchases for a few years. If we like them, we go back. I later called back and tried again and was told the same thing– they no longer accept the coupon I purchased. The lady on the phone was quite rude and told me there is nothing she could do– that she only worked there. I then requested to speak with the owner/manager and was told that he was not available. Shortly after a woman got on the phone and said she was the manager. She gave me more information than I cared to hear about how they hired a consultant early this year to increase business and that they took their coupon down off the website in June. that is all well and good but I explained that my coupon was purchased months before that date. What I learned is that when these coupons are purchased– as soon as you confirm the purchase, the company gets their money– whether you go or not. How can businesses offer a deal and then deny it when it is not expired? She offers me $ 30 of forbid for $ 15– sand a free dessert– Really, I am out $ 45 but I am going to come to your restaurant and give you an additional $ 15PLUS what ever the difference is between the $ 30 and actual bill– sorry no deal. She Claimed that they no longer had the bottle of wine available that was offered with the coupon that I purchased– 2 entrées and a bottle of wine for $ 45a $ 90 value. s– REALLY– go out and buy a $ 5 bottle of wine, honor your coupon and do right by your customer or off 2 entrees and the equivalent appetizer of dessert to make up for the difference. bottom line is they sold over 600 coupons, increased their business and basically shutting the door on the remaining customers that didnt use their coupon quick enough. They may have ioncreased their business over the last several months due to a coupon promotion– but more than good food is needed to keep it that way. Read other reviews on other restaurant websites biggest complaint is service– we will not be eating here ever– guess they left their southern hospitality down south!

Truly the best ribs I’ve ever had. Also loved the potato salad, and the freshly made hush puppies. Don’t skip dessert — the peach cobbler was amazing!

We love this place. I am dumbfounded by the reviews of the service. Our service has been nothing but fantastic. Last night was our third time in, yhe waitress remember us and was extremely friendly The food is always fantastic. I am a southern girl so i know a thing our two about soul food. The blackeyed pees should be on any plate you order. Greens are so good, have just thd right amount of vinegar. And the fried chicken well it is something to write home about. In fact i have only had better in Louisiana. If i had one complaint it would be the singer. He is fun, don’t get me wrong, but the volume could be turned down, it is impossible to talk to people at your table when he is playing, just because of the volume. But he does add some fun.

I purchased a local money saver deal(from ) because I love trying new BBQ spots. This was about a 35 minute drive from my house, but since there were no stipulations on the printed deal, I thought I would take my sons out to lunch to see if this was any good. This restaruant is located in the Shop Rite Shopping Center off of the White Horse Pike. You walk inside and it’s decorated nicely, beautiful paintings on the wall, booths around the outside and tables in the middle. This restaurant has 8 tv’s on that were playing NFL and Nascar, which was nice, kept the kids occupied. Once we sat down, we ordered our drinks, and I informed our server that we had the double take deal(similiar to Groupon, Living Social, etc). She informed me that she was just told last night that they can only accept these deals from Tues-Friday. I’ve seen other deals like that before, however, nothing like that was listed on the printed voucher, therefore I told her, that’s kinda not right that it wouldn’t be accpeted. She told me she’d talk to the chef and see… The chef came out and echoed the same sentiment. I let him know that if there’s a problem with the double take deal, that I’d suggest they contact doubletake deals and handle it. I let him know that I drove over a half an hour with these two kids on a Sunday(restaurant only had one single patron when we got there around 1pm). I let him know I understand their position, and if they aren’t going to accept it, let me know and I will try to come back during the week another time. He let me know they’d accept it today, so that was fine. My review above has nothing to do with this, I’m reviewing the restaurant based on this point forward. Our waitress was pleasant and very attentive. She kept our sweet tea filled and was always checking up on us. We ordered 6 Mild Wings as a starter. My kids got a chicken fingers kids meal, Ribs kids meal, and I got the Combo with Ribs and half a chicken. The wings were fantastic. They were extremely sticky(lots of honey in the sauce I guess) but the taste was awesome. Loved them. Little spicey for mild, but they were really good. That was the highlight of the meal for me… I wasn’t feeling the Sauce they used at all. I prefer a sweeter sauce. Unfortunately my kid didn’t like the sauce either… I compare it to Phoebe’s BBQ in Philly, which was another joint we didn’t really care for. The fries were good, the sweet tea was good. They have no sauce on the table, only use the one type of sauce they use. It was also on our BBQ chicken… The ribs were cooked nicely, not over cooked at all, took a nice even bite out of the side. The chicken was cooked very well also, just that sauce for me, I wasn’t feeling it. With options like Whole Hog Café in Cherry Hill, I would skip this place and go there. The wings were great, if they do wing specials, I’d go back… I’d like to try their fried chicken platter, but like others said, they are pricey(2 piece fried chicken platter with two sides was on special at $ 13.99). The other thing I would mention, that I would like to see them change is their menu. They have seveal combos listed that are specified for«Take out only». Now when I got to a BBQ joint, I want to taste everything this pitmaster has to offer… I want a rib, pork and brisket combo(they should offer a 2−3−4 meat combo and let me pick what meats I want). They don’t do that, which was surprising. It’s not a straight up BBQ joint, its about 50% BBQ50% Soul food… Either way, I’m glad I got to try it, but there are much better choices elsewhere right now…

I like this place quite a bit. It blows sugarpuddins in lindenwold out of the water. It’s a bit pricey, but the portions are right and the good is great. The collard greens are great! The only real negative I can think of is the wait times are long. Add 15 minutes to whatever they tell you, and you’ll be good.

My husband and I just came here for dinner this past Friday night upon a recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is nice and spacious, located in a plaza off of the White Horse Pike. Service was Friendly and Inviting. We ordered the family package meal that included a rack of ribs, half chicken, pulled pork, 4 sides and hush puppies for $ 45. This way we can try a few different items and have leftovers for another meal. The ribs were delicious! Very moist, flavorful and smokey. My husband pointed out, that they were fantastic and would come back again just for the ribs. The pulled pork was good but I prefer the meat by itself then add bbq sauce as opposed to being served in sauce.(Thats just the bbq restaurant background in me) the chicken was the best for me! Fried chicken then bbq sauce added. I love it for the added texture, taste and bbq stickiness! I only know one other restaurant that does that. The sides were good. The Greens were very flavorful, the yams delicious, and potato salad good. The mac n cheese was not good, a very big disappointment because I base a soul food/bbq/caribbean restaurant on the sides. I taste that before anything else. The hush puppies were good but a bit heavy/dough-y. I would come again anytime, in fact I’m going to order 4 – 5 racks of ribs for a party. The manager(owner?) Sandy was friendly, informative, and prompt! Great little restaurant
