History

Established in 2010.

The Training Point was started when its owners realized that many security professionals in the National Capitol Region were not receiving quality training from some of their employers and/​or other training academies. We realized that there was an opportunity in the industry to provide quality training in full compliance with local, state and Federal government requirements at a fair price and with a great attitude while being customer service oriented. A centralized training academy location was identified in Laurel with easy access from DC, Baltimore and Central Maryland (Rockville). Services provided are: Training, LiveScan, PassPort Pictures & Notary Public services. Training services among others encompass the following specialties: First Aid /​AED /​CPR (AHA, ARC, MedicFirstAid, ASHI) for Adults, Children & Infants; Firearms (State, Federal, FPS, HQL, MD Handgun Permit, MD Wear & Carry Permit); FPS SGIM/​SMART Book basic training & refresher training; MEB, MDTS & OC Training.

Brian A.

Manager

Brian Ayres has been a professional instructor /​trainer since 2005. Prior to becoming a trainer, he was in the U.S. Marines where he was honorably discharged in 1999. Upon retiring from the U.S. Marines, he entered the private security field and quickly rose from a security guard to supervisor to project manager where he commanded a security force of 130 security officers for a DoD contract in the National Capitol Region. During this period, Brian obtained numerous certifications in training security officers. His current certifications include: AHA, ARC, ASHI & MedicFirstAid instructor (FA/​AED/​CPR); instructor trainer for SafariLand (Larry Smith & Manadnock) for MEB, MDTS & OC; NRA Law Enforcement instructor for Pistol & Shotgun; OCAT instructor; X-​Ray training; Instructor Trainer for Emergency Care & Safety Institute; Glock Armorer; S&W M&P Armorer; DCJS General Instructor; DCJS Firearms Instructor; Louisiana in-​house classroom instructor; Senior OC Instructor for LE; DC SPO
