Super Best

Super Best has reasonable prices with a mainly east Asian focus. They have a good fish counter and the people who staff it do a good job cleaning the fish. There are also some Indian, African and Latino products here. Produce is very cheap compared to gringo markets, but does tend to be somewhat B grade so some discretion is advised. One star off for the often long checkout lines and for having an unpredictable selection (e.g. sometimes they don’t have galanga, not even frozen).

Overall not a bad store. Like many stores that label themselves as being international it has a heavy Asian feel as far as the products offered. If you have been in an H Mart this place will be very familiar to you. Some of the same premise as it has a deli in it specializing in Korean plates and the always present check cashing/​phone cards to various countries in Central America.
The selection of fish is impressive and the employees who work in the seafood section are quick when it comes to cutting up your fish in any way you like. You basically pick up a bowl and use the tongs to select the fish you want. Another plus of this place is that it does have a large selection of items from the Caribbean compared to other international supermarkets.

Great for quick local international needs & veggies… otherwise drive 30 minutes+/- to H&K or Greatwall (GW is amazing)

Great stock employees; was shopping for Phở for a friend with a long list of ingredients I was not at all familiar. I was super impressed how helpful these employees were. The herbs choices were unprecedented. The fish market is stocked with so many choices; fish and shellfish. They have almost all Asian spices, sauces, unique ingredients, including frozen food. They have a large selection of Latin and African foods too. The only thing I was not impressed by was the common fruit,

1^st time today after new ownership took over. Fish market is pretty amazing, they fillet fresh fish right there for you, live crabs that are actually still fighting back. Found Lizano Sauce, finally don’t have to trade US deodorant and chocolate and go down there to get it. Tried an awesome Korean Bulgogi Sauce and bought some thin sliced Ribeye on sale, and had the yummiest dinner I’ve had in a long time. Nice variety of veggies, and wasn’t too crowded on a Saturday. Had to knock off one star for not being very clean, and the smell of fish as you walk in. But loads better variety than the Supergran.

Great produce prices and many unusual items. Many ethnic food aisles. Lots of fresh fish and meats. You will save money shopping at Super Best.

I just moved here from the west coast where there is a strong Asian influence in the population. I decided to check this place out since I heard it had a great selection of international foods.
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a fishy smell. Most of the produce looked very fresh. As you head to the back corner at the end of aisle 1, it starts to smell like manure. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of cuts of meat.
A majority of the store’s aisles were stocked with Latin goods. There’s a small aisle of Caribbean and African goods and the second largest selection is Asian, but I’d rather make the trek to H Mart in EC for a better selection.
My low review doesn’t have anything to so with smells or selection that I was seeking, but rather the state of store and quality of service from the employees. Many of the aisles were clogged up with product on the floor making it difficult to navigate through the store. None of the employees could assist me when looking for a particular Asian candy for my son, there really was no effort on their part to help; something was muttered under their breath in Spanish and they walked away. The checkout clerk wasn’t any better either. She was rolling her eyes at the customer ahead of us and when the customer behind us asked how much a minimum credit card purchase was, she rolled her eyes again. The customer rephrased her question in Spanish instead of English and the clerk finally responded.
If you’re looking for Latin groceries and can speak spanish, then maybe this is the place for you and you’ll likely be treated with some respect. I’m never going here again, I’ll just drive to the nearest H Mart!

This store lack what its called customer service and ripping off people, I bought a piece of yam there today and half the yam is bad, I returned to the store drove about 8 miles and they wont refund the full price of the yam, first the yam was so expensive ($ 15.40) they only refund $ 4.49. I called the manager to explain to her and they called the in store police at me that I was making trouble. I will not shop at this store ever again.

Worst customer service I have encountered! I was trying to exchange a salted pumpkin seed, because they put it in the same shelf as the no salted one which I had also bought. The Korean customer service woman inspected the sealed pack and the receipt, and said it was more than a week. I said it is dry, not perishable. She said I have to come back in 2 days because she can’t make decision. I said I want to see the manager. She said there is no manager in the store. I said how can a store not have a manager present? She said the manager is not there, period. For a pack of salted pumpkin seed that costs $ 3.99, she was giving me a hard time. I will never set foot in that store again!

On our first visit to the store, we were excited to have an Asian/​International market so close. We bought a good amount of fresh produce as well as non-​perishables. I bought a few non-​perishable I already had in my pantry, so I went to take them back the next weekend. When trying to return the items is when I realized how terrible the customer service was. I was first told by a very unhelpful employee, all returns need to be made within 6 hrs of purchasing them, and she pointed to my receipt. On the same receipt, I showed her that their stated policy explicitly referenced «PERISHABLES» need to be returned within 6 hrs of purchase. She then questioned me about why I was returning the items and checked if I had opened them, the whole time looking like I was the biggest inconvenience and con-​artist. She then shouted across the store to someone, and eventually told us (in an annoyed tone) that we had to wait 45 minutes for the manager to be on duty. Apparently, NO ONE other than the store manager (who wasn’t onsite at 11:45am) could do a return that wasn’t within 6 hrs of being purchased. Needless to say, the customer service was horrible. I will not be going there ever again. I’ll stick with H-​Mart, even though it’s twice the distance from our house. We’ve been there several trips to H-​Mart, and they have a great selection and I’ve never had a problem like this.

Very fresh and bountiful vegetable selections! I love it! This market is mainly a mixture of Asian, Latino, and Caribbean foods… but there is something for everyone. A lot of the seafood is fresh, but I would be cautious about the pre-​filleted fish and «freshly thawed» shellfish. I would even go as far as to say that the fish section is not for the (American) faint of heart. Yes, they’re cutting fish heads off with their cleavers, there’s a nasty looking farmed raised whole salmon with its reddish (aka spoiled) eyes staring right at you, and you have to pick your own fish to clean, scale, and fillet all by yourself with those soggy and unhygienic-​looking tongs… but, what other grocery store around here can you experience all of this at? Yeah, it’s an amusement park, if you ask me
Okay…now, if you’re the kind of foodie, like I am, just put your big girl panties on and wander in. They have 20 types of tofu, soba noodles, phở noodles, pancit noodles, quail eggs, 3 crab fish sauce, masa, queso blanco, kobucha squash, culantro, yu choy, shrimp chips, fresh lemongrass, green papayas, cute little philippine mangoes, shishito peppers, need I say more?!!
Plus, 2 weeks ago, you can now snack on a bowl of phở for $ 5.95 or 3 pork spring rolls for $ 2.50 if your shopping adventure wears you out… like writing this review and thinking about all the colorful aisles of Japanese, Thai, Mexican, and Korean goodies has just wore me out.
A place like this doesn’t happen in the Baltimore-​DC area very often. Now, roam free my little gluttonous minions. Go free!

Still getting new items monthly that makes this grocery interesting and wide selection.

I must say that I am very appalled at the customer service that the «account manager» has shown to their customer. I just witnessed a disabled man shopping with his family when she said under her breath that the 50lb bag of rice is not heavy. I’m not sure what the outcome was, but she obviously upset the customer. Instead of pacifying the situation, she continued to instigate and cursing out the customer. I am not sure where she learned her customer service skills, but that is definitely not how you handle customers. To top it all off, the «manager» was pushing the gentleman out the store. I will never go to that grocery store. It is unfortunate as not all the workers there are like that.

My biggest challenge living in the DC area is to find a good Asian grocery store nearby me. Even though it’s over 10 miles to get here, it is the closest one to me. Having been in great Asian grocery stores in the U.S. while in California or Hawaii, places in the DC area are good, but a lot more expensive. This place is no exception. Other than the prices, it had most of my needs. It’s not the most modern place and has that typical pungent smell when you first walk in. But it had my two most important needs: large selection of fresh seafood and Kim Chee. Yup, I will return.

My first visit since the name change. Little change, generally for the better. I needed some fermented black beans, a little-​known Chinese condiment that you have unknowingly tasted in such dishes as Lobster Cantonese. It is key in the first Chinese dish I learned to cook, asparagus with chicken and black beans, that has become my rite of Spring. Long story short, I found them.
In fact, if there is an Asian or Latino ingredient or flavoring that your palate desires, it is here. The vegetable section is astounding, many varieties of each type and all lovely and fresh and way less expensive than the pitiful specimens in the chain store. The organization of the rest of the store is now more regional, with Latino goods on the north end, hard goods and ordinary groceries in the middle, and Asian toward the south. Along the back wall is the meat department with all those unusual cuts, and a seafood department with mostly whole fish, laid out on the customer side of the counter so they can be examined for freshness, and a big poster over the counter enumerating the seven different ways they can be cleaned. Now, you may not need 6 varieties of bok choy, 10 different brands of fish sauce, or pickled mud fish, but stop by anyway. You are almost certain to discover some new taste treat, or the key to recreating that gem you had last night.

Wow! Clean and very large supermarket with a very wide selection of Asian, African and latino products. Size of your typical american chain store but with fresh fish, huge produce selection and exotic foods.
Drumsticks $ 0.39 lb! I don’t think I have ever seem meat this cheap.

I was sad to see the SuperGrand sign come down, and quickly figured out the place had a new owner. After going back several times, I can see all the changes the new owner has done. The produce quality has improved, as well as the selection. The seafood section now has a frozen section with seafood for sushi. Rice is organized in one whole aisle. The aisles are more organized. The lighting is better. The little kiosks filled with things nobody buys are gone.
Overall, a must place to go if you are looking for quality exotic produce and foreign food products.
