I visited Potomac Curling club for a friend’s birthday party a few months ago. I had no idea what to expect but the evening ended up being SO much fun. As long as you bundle up and are ready to follow some instructions, you will have a blast. It’s also BYOB and you can enjoy your beverages freely throughout the club (except, obviously, not on the ice during lessons). All of the instructors were amazing and made the evening so fun for all of us! I would highly recommend visiting this curling club for a lesson or hosting a party here. We are all still talking about going back!

i had the same issue as one of the previous reviewers (hard to find a good time to come in for a beginner’s session).

i booked the whole place for my 30th birthday celebration!
i had a blast and so did everyone else in our party. we had about an hour of instruction followed by open play time with assistance from some very nice volunteers. it was a great price considering we had the place to ourselves.
it is very cold so dress appropriately! there is a warm room with glass and screens for spectators. there is also a kitchen. we brought food/​cake/​beverages.
they are very welcoming and i believe now they have some intro sessions saturday mornings. i can’t wait to go back! it’s a lot harder than it looks on TV, need more practice :)

I’ve been a member for about 4 years. I look forward to the season starting in October of every year – and volunteer to build the ice (we are an all volunteer organization). Lots of fun events and we try to get as many new people in (open houses, learn to curl events, and must Saturdays). If your idea of fun is spending two hours in a cold room and sliding around on ice on a shoe with a teflon sole then this is the place to do it in the DC/​Baltimore area)

I have found it impossible to get any ice time to try curling. They only have 2 beginner events per year and their season is extremely short. To sign up for a beginner event is like logging on to TicketMaster exactly when the openings are posted, and I have never been able to sign up in time. They don’t seem to want new curlers/​members very much.
