Super warm and sincere welcome the minute I came thru the doors, which immediately made me happy. I spent about two hours in the store, no shame about that ;)! They had a wonderful selection of clothing, shoes, purses, accessories, etc. and way more to look around at than any Plato’s Closet I’ve been too, but it wasn’t overwhelming because the store was very well organized and of course color coordinated which is a great concept to have when it comes to rummaging thru racks of clothes. The nice ladies offered me a bin to place my clothes in while I continued to look around, once done they helped me with opinions on clothing. All the employees were super upbeat and filled with positive energy! I especially want Dominique and Calandra to be recognized on their great customer service! I live in DC, but Ill totally be taking a trip back very soon! Thanks for everything ladies!

Went in to sell a bag full of clothes as I do at a similar establishment. Majority of my clothes had tags but were not accepted because they were«out of date» or of «formal wear»(blazer, dress, etc) other items that weren’t accepted had everyday wear and makeup spots(things that could have been easily washed out). 20+ items in this bag and only about 5 items were approved to only receive barely $ 20 back??. I agreed because of the cause and because I no longer wear these items and I can take the passed clothes to the store I regularly go to. I picked out some clothes to exchange for the $ 20 price I received from my trade ins to find multiple spots on my items. As I approached the young lady that passed my items, I showed her the stains and she advised me to ‘wash them’ and that these clothes were damaged by the customers. I don’t know. Maybe it was me. But it just doesn’t seem right. The young lady did give me a couple dollars off so I am grateful. As for the store, I do like it. Great collection in sneakers. The heals seemed out of date so I understand why they didn’t approve mine lol. However still A LOT of great selections to choose from. Bathing suits, jeans, jumpsuits, and more. Personally, I wouldn’t say they’re expensive only because it’s not a thrift store. Overall, I will be returning. Probably not to sell because they are unfairly picky.

I have found some really good buys there and they seem pretty fair about what they are willing to accept, when you are trying to sell to them. They do low ball you a bit, but it’s better than taking the clothes to goodwill and getting nothing. All of the sales associates are friendly and very welcoming. I have a fun time shopping here and finding neat outfits for the different seasons. Overall I have had nothing but good experiences at this Plato’s Closet.

Nicely organized, a wide range of clothes and sizes(including club shoes to size 11!). Staff is friendly. They have a men’s section, and some sneakers. A small amount of higher end accessories are by the buy counter. Prices are WAY low, but at the same time, their payout to purchase your items are low as well… Put it this way, I accidently put two pairs of ray-ban aviators(no scratches, in a case, 1 pr polarized) sunglasses in my bag to sell and they offered me $ 10 a pair. Also, if selling, they don’t like ‘dressy’ items.

Love this place, love the employees, love the prices, the cute finds! What’s not to love about this place? I’m a regular and I’ve found so many cute pieces. I’ve found amazing deals and they make it even better– they give you a stamp card and a stamp for every $ 10 that you spend then when you fill up your card you get a 20% discount so you’re always saving at Platos closet. I’m so happy it’s literally down the street from my house so yay me!

Selections were OK. Hilarious you can actually find shirts/jeans cheaper at Marshal’s or TJmax’s. For $ 2-$ 3 more brand new. Nothing should be «In-style» here because its a used clothes store yet a fashion repeat/flashback maybe. How can you be buying in-style per BUYER … used/old clothing? If its«In style» one would most likely keep them. Lots of woman;s clothing. I mean this is a place for people who have a certain era they want to dress in and express individuality in vintage clothing(not a fashion forward trendsetter store). If this is the case one will be at MAcy’s. I pop-in every now and then but pop out empty every time. I somehow find somewhere @ a lower price and brand new. Ayy-ya-yay.

I came here to sell clothes and also to potentially purchase. First of all, the staff here immediately struck me as unprofessional and rude. They were gossiping and pushing each other and laughing loudly. I didn’t like anything in the store enough to make a purchase, and despite their«can’t be older than 2 years» rule, I saw an ugly sweater with the brand«Express Tricot», which is from at least 5 years ago, if not longer… the shoes in my size were in poor condition, and the maxi dresses were hideous. They only bought 10 items out of the 45 or so items that I brought. Most to all of them were new, and I even brought a Geoffrey Beene men’s shirt with the tags still on it, never worn and they rejected it! Foolish. They also rejected 2 pairs of never worn shoes, cute flats and heeled sandals… I didn’t even get an explanation. It was a waste of my time to try to sell here. I’ll be selling the«rejected» items on Ebay and Craigslist… sigh.

I was looking for a place to buy sneakers at a very low price and after driving around laurels local thrift stores I ended up at Plato’s closet. My first experience there was great. I found a decent pair of sneakers called foamposites. For those who aren’t familiar with sneakers; let’s just say they are worth more than what I paid for them. Happy with my purchase I am now a returning customer. Over the time I have shopped here I am now starting to notice that the prices on these used shoes have gone up to $ 100 or even $ 90. In my opinion some pairs are not worth the amount they price them at. Please fix that problem Platos, but thank you for the previous CHEAPER items I purchased with you.

I believe the place just recently opened but the place doesn’t smell so good and the store looks very old and dark. I sold a couple pair of shoes and they literally took $ 5 a pair, but since I didn’t need them, I gave in and just took the cash. Some of the pairs were brand new with box and tags, which makes no sense. The employees barely smile. If you want to sell your clothes, I recommend Uptown Cheapskate in Rockville, MD!

So I decided to clean out my sister’s, mom’s and I’s closets during the week, nothing to serious just folded up and bagged the clothes that needed«to go.» I am a constant reseller and consider myself to be an extremely knowledgeable business savvy woman within the secondhand clothing business. I own my own online-store for secondhand designer merchandise and do very well! With that said I came up here with accessories, shoes, scarves, handbags and clothes to be consigned up front for fast cash. When first walking in you realize that this store reeks of overpriced forever21 clothes and used Vera Bradley bags. You can seriously be overwhelmed by the amount of Vera Bradley… As usual, you sign in and they ask you the same annoying questions each time which I tend to just nod now. They then place a sticker on your bag or box and you are left to hope it won’t take so long. I understand that no one walks in and walks out, but still it shouldn’t take over two hours to process someone. And that is what happened… They weren’t busy but they did have an annoying man who was either drunk/drugged/or just had a horrible time speaking in general bothering them the whole time. I could see their faces that they were annoyed and even uncomfortable, he even touched one female who was well behind the countertop on the shoulder calling her«My Sister» and asking if they were«Still Cool.» I could tell that he may be a problem so even though he made me uncomfortable I remained at the counter while they were going through and sorting my stuff out. They ended up taking all my clothes since I didn’t care what I made off of them. However, I ended up taking each and every pair of my shoes and handbags back. I will make about 70% more listing them online. I am not a total fan of Plato’s Closet, however, I am a fan of recycling textiles and fashion in general and, therefore, will always try to sell my clothing back before I take them to either Goodwill or the textile composite at the local community dump yard. Please note: I never have any luck shopping in any Plato’s location due to my overly high standards of buying secondhand merchandise(I tend to only buy secondhand in New York and it usually is designer). However, this location has a great selection of designer jeans. They have MK, Burberry, BKE, For All ManKind, Seven and True Religion jeans all for under $ 60.00. I consider that a great deal since they were all in great shape with some still having their garment hangtags and price tags still attached. *Just a side note* I tend to look at the employees before I start to shop around because if they are the buyers they tend to buy what they like and what they think their friends will like. This saves me time from deciding on whether or not I will dig around for something I «may» like or reading and waiting in the car. The girls here were not dressed nicely, in fact one was wearing VS loungewear and another looked as if she just threw on everything flannel in her closet and ran to work forgetting to brush her hair. Also, they all had attitudes and kept saying how«Sundays Suck, This is the worst day of the week to work, I hate Sundays.» Seriously? In front of customers?
