History

Established in 1993.

Morningside is one of the only women-​owned senior living companies in the nation and highly respected for our outstanding care, service and unique company culture. Here’s our story of how we got here…

The Morningside Group was founded in 1992 by three British gentlemen who had successfully developed hotels and strip malls overseas and decided to try their model here in the States.

They named the company Morningside, which is a quaint town in Edinburg, Scotland and also home to the famous Morningside Clock. Morningside House of Leesburg, VA successfully opened its doors in October, 1993.

After much success, four additional Morningside Communities followed:

Morningside House of Laurel (Laurel, MD) opened July, 1996;

Morningside House of Friendship (Hanover, MD) opened May, 1998;

Morningside House of St. Charles (Waldorf, MD) opened August 1998;

Morningside House of Satyr Hill (Parkville, MD) opened July, 1999.
