Established in 1973.

the business was started in 1973 by jean and pam ganoe, then sold to diane white in 2004. the business has grown by leaps and bounds since then. the business specializes in specialty cakes and cupcakes. the business now includes other specialties like pineapple upside down cake and pie and 17 varieties of cupcakes and 6 different kinds of brownies as well as cake pops and moon pies. the business is continually changing and growing

diane was a mother at the age of 17, married and working as a waitress, soon after the birth she had to save money but wanted to make her daughters birthday cake… her sister in law had made one for thier daughter, and it was great, so she borrowed the pan and made her first cake it it turned out really cute and it tasted great, so everytime someone wanted or needed a cake diane would make it and it was her gift, so she never had to buy presents… soon the word of mouth spread about her cakes and eventually she was in high demand, her skills for free hand drawing were the most called for as the characters that people wanted were not all made into pan shapes. eventually she found work in a grocery store as a decorator which further enhanced her skill and speed. after long consideration she decided to look into owning her own shop and at the insistance of her customers, she bought jps kake korner in 2004… today it is one of the busiest shops in maryland,

Ok, this is probably one of two reviews I’ll will write for Kake Korner because…
My mom stopped in today to pick up a few samples to decide on a flavor for my dad’s birthday cake. Oh my goodness this was a tough decision out of the 6 flavors we tried (funfetti was my favorite). I am an experienced baker and I can tell they are using quality ingredients. My mom reports the girls behind the counter were very friendly and happy to take the time to answer all of her questions. The owner even found time to speak with my mother which was a lot considering how busy they were. We will be ordering a cake from them soon!

Kake Korner created another spectacular cake — this time for my granddaughter’s first birthday party. It was a Hungry Caterpillar themed party. The cake had a 3D caterpillar snaking across the top with the various food items the caterpillar ate around the sides. They did the colors exactly like the book and made a matching smash cake. Not only was the cake design exceptional, the cake itself was really delicious. This is my go to bakery for anything special, and they never disappoint.

My sister brought over a delicious yellow cake from here for a Christmas party and everyone loved it! It wasn’t over sugary or thick. The cake was fluffy and moist and kept well in the fridge for a couple days after it was made. Well done!

Best cakes ever! Since buying my husband’s birthday cake from here 3 yrs ago, I’ve made this my go-​to bakery for all special occasions! The customer service is great and the cakes are always fresh and moist. I literally pass by 3 – 4 bakeries to come here. We’ve gotten rave reviews of every cake we’ve ever ordered regardless of the flavor! I’m heading out to pick of my daughter’s cake now! I am so pleased I used Kake Korner to create my daughters unique Sweet 16 birthday cake. They were professional from the start, providing a great sampling of cake options and flexible customization options. The process was seamless and the end result was AMAZING! We settled on their lemon cake, which the ENTIRE party devoured! There was no cake to take home!!! EVERYONE Loved the Kake Korner Cake!!! I’m originally from Philly and I use to get cakes from back home, but after Kake Korner I get cakes right in Laurel, MD!

What an absolute gem of a place this is! Stopped by while traveling on business to see what it was all about. Diane the owner have us a free cupcake to try even though she knew we could not be repeat customers. Not only was she wonderful, but her cupcakes were outstanding! Even though I cannot return, I would certainly recommend it to anybody that can get there!

This review is focused on the cupcakes and customer service, not for their elaborate cakes. The cupcakes are fine. Just that, fine. Fine like a Subway 6 inch sub is fine. The disadvantage that Kake Korner has, however, is that at Subway you don’t fork over an arm and a leg for an average product. The cupcakes are big and inconsistently frosted. Some have it smeared across the cake like I made it at home, others have nice piping. The cake itself is moist and bland. If the price wasn’t already ridiculous enough, the customer service is awful. The owner and workers were rude and quite unprofessional, which is a shame since I wanted to like this place!

This is my 5th Kake Korner Cake, and the first one that I have ordered (they have an amazing selection of pre-​made cakes) and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out! I’ve had their chocolate, yellow, carrot, and spice cakes and each one is awesome. It’s true that these cakes are not cheap, but they’re not that expensive either, especially when you consider how amazing the designs and taste are. I’ve spoken with several of the employees at Kake Korner and each one is helpful and polite. Tastings are free (and very good!). I went in with a basic idea and the woman I spoke to was able to flesh it out and work within my budget. I’ve already placed two more orders with them for the next few weeks and will continue to order cakes there.

I have been using this bakery for about 6 years and I must say — very disappointed in the decline in customer service. It took me days to get a cake ordered (I had to keep calling and emailing) and I have since emailed about a possible adjustment and got no response. I don’t like chasing people to give them my money and I definitely do not like being ignored once they have the deposit. Extremely disappointed.
For non-​3D cakes I prefer Cakes Plus, but now that they have started doing 3D Design, they may be getting all of my business.

When I’m looking for an expansive variety of delicious cupcakes, this is my go-​to spot. I’ve only had their cupcakes but their cakes look very impressive. For cupcakes, I enjoy the Strawberry, Snickerdoodle, Carrot, Coconut, and their Lemon cupcakes.
I’ve found that when I let them sit in my fridge overnight, their flavor is enhanced to peak quality.

I think this place is a 3.5 and I fought on weather I was going to give them a 4. My boyfriend surprised me with cupcakes thinking this was the place I like when it was really Cake Plus.
He got 5 different cupcakes for us to try. The yellow cake with chocolate frosting is 5 stars… it brought me back to childhood. Moist and just plain olé good. The almond cupcake was just like the yellow cake but with a hint on almond. The other cupcakes were just not great at all — red velvet, snicker doodle and I can’t remember the last one. They were slightly dry and the frosting was a bit tart… weird.
I would so go back for that yellow cake but nothing else really.

Best wedding cake ever! The owner worked with our budget and my guests are still raving about the tasty creation known as «OMG, that cake!»
Cake tastings are free and convenient, no special advance appointments are required. The owner is down to earth and definitely a skilled artist.

On my way to Starbucks, I used to see this cute little cake shop and I decided to check this out to get cake for my friend’s b’day celebration.
The store was kinda cutely decorated. You walk in and you feel you are little wonderland. I walked at the counter and somebody attended me immediately. She helped me choose the chocolate cake the colored the icing to my choice of color. Staff was super helpful and Whole process was super quick. I even got a sample for tasting. They had very beautiful cakes for other customers to pick up and had a cup cake display in other room which was kinda neat.
But the cake was not one of the best I have tried. I ordered the chocolate cake and the flavor was little faded and cake was too sweet and dense textured. I was missing the explosion of chocolate you get after eating a good rich chocolate cake. Icing was nice and creamy but definitely didn’t make up dry base.
If you are looking for pretty cake then go for it but I wouldn’t expect much intensity texture and taste.

Absolutely amazing, Kake Korner never fails. I have been ordering cakes and cupcakes for 4 years now. My son just turned 5, they pulled off an amazing superhero cake and i also had 48 cupcakes. They taste just as good as they look. We love kake korner. Never had any issues with ordering anything, everyone is very helpful, they call u if they have any questions on your order. The business itself is great. You can say all around, customer service, cakes appearance and deliciousness is superb.

My daughter has gotten a cake here every year for her birthday. A fabulous Mickey Mouse cake, the cartoon character caillou, a Barbie cake, and the most recent Frozen themed cake. I’ve also gotten a cute baby shower cake from here.
It’s pricey, and coming from Alexandria, VA it’s a little bit of an inconvenience but the look on my daughters face is more than worth it. The cakes are definite crowd pleasers! The taste isn’t extraordinary, moist and decadent yes but their selection is very basic.
Overall I’d recommend them to friends, I usually do! I posted pictures of all the cakes I’ve purchased in the photo album

I’ve had 2 cakes from this place already and enjoyed both. This past November I ordered one in the shape of a house to celebrate our new home. A couple weeks ago I had one made with Sonic The Hedgehog theme on it for my sons 6th birthday. We were pleasantly surprised that the cakes weren’t super sweet to the point you don’t want to eat it anymore like I’ve gotten from other places. Oh yeah, everything on the cake was edible. I’ll post the pics I have. Can’t go wrong with this bakery. Next, I need to try their cupcakes that they can also decorate.
