Pros: Beef tongue tacos are a must try! Patronized by the local Latin community, which speaks highly of it’s authenticity. Plentiful space. Friendly service, despite lack of English speaking abilities. Cons: Latin music blaring in the background which isn’t conducive for conversations.

This place isn’t much to look at but it is great for a homey Latin breakfast. The house — made tortillas are delicious and it helps to order an extra one to have enough to enjoy with your whole meal. The waitstaff is always friendly and professional and the place is meticulously clean. Breakfast is served all day long, so it’s worth a try any time. We’ve been coming here for years(since before the old location was torn down to build the Wallgreens on route 1) and the worst issue we encountered was a mistaken order.

What I ordered: Cream Chicken Mixed Papusas Argentinian Steak What I thought: Cream of chicken was creamy, well seasoned, and oh-so-good. Rice was not terrible — tasted like it was instant rice and not from scratch. Beans were flavorful and savory. Papusas were buttery, cheesy, warm and a wonderful texture. Served with spicy cabbage slaw, this was a perfect appetizer. Steak was beefy and tender. Paired with some good cheese, sauce and plantains. Why you would go: To try some Salvadorian food that tastes homemade. In a good way. Why I would return: I am hooked on those little savory pancakes.

Seriously disappointed. Having had real authentic Honduran/Salvadorian food in Chicago, this food is just not worth the high prices. I had the chicken stew, which included only two rather boney pieces of meat. The beans were underseasoned, and they give you just one tortilla with the meal(in Chi, you would get a whole steamer full of them). Finally, just as the above reviewer stated, the food was all barely lukewarm. All of this could have been easily correctable, and is inexcusable.

Don’t take this 3 stars wrong– this is a really good start for a new restaurant. The flavor of the fajita steak was amazing. The Rice, with little bits of corn and carrot for color, plentiful and good. Mexican cokes– yeah!!! Why ding them? Beans. Best tasting I’ve had in years. They need to be in a mini– bowl, not a deep saucer. 1– they were lukewarm. 2. Give us more of these– the taste is amazing! Tortillas. Tasty, but the thicker style that could be good. Clearly homemade. Maybe too greasy, maybe not hot enough… Just… Not quite right. But close… close. I will say right now it may be my personal tastes here getting in the way. I prefer a thinner tortilla I can roll and push food around with– more of a Mexican thing. This is Salvadoran/Honduran, not Mexican,(think pupusas), and that’s not a bad thing; just different. Silverware. They use a good enough knife, but the fork is an easily bent stamped thing. Overall, a good start for a restaurant. I hope they grow and prosper. We’ll come back and try to update the review as we can.
