History

Established in 1996.

Christian Black Belt Academies, International was founded in 1996 by Pastor Troy Stein, 6th Degree Black Belt, and Pastor Craig Shaw, 6th Degree Black Belt. The founders felt that there was a need for a martial arts organization that keeps its focus on the needs of the students and the development of their character into what God would have for their lives. Pastor Stein and Pastor Shaw continued with the organization with which they were previously affiliated until 2001 when they introduced a new advanced style of Taekwondo entitled, the Abishai Style of Taekwondo.

Christian Black Belt Academies, International, maintains its conviction that Traditional Taekwondo training is the heart of each of our continually developing programs. Our desire is to make quality self defense training affordable and convenient to every student that desires to excel as a martial artist. It is with these objectives that we have developed the Abishai Style of Taekwondo.

Meet the Business Owner

Troy S.

Business Owner

Pastor Troy Stein and his family moved to Lathrop in 2010 with the goal of serving the community. The plan was simple: plant a church whose many activities and events could give the families of Lathrop and the surrounding area a safe place to have fun, be served, and find a place to belong.

The Academies was founded in fall of 2011 by Pastor Troy, as a way to combine his long-successful Taekwondo program with his new venture, a dance school. Pastor Troy had been in the martial arts industry for thirty years, and had made a name for himself by combining traditional Taekwondo teachings with innovative kid-friendly curriculum, all founded on Christian standards. He chose to apply these same unique traits to a dance school, and Christian Dance Academy was formed. Meanwhile, New Life Church’s school of music chose to adopt the same Christian principles and new teaching methods, and the three-part Academies was born.
