Holiday Inn Express & Suites Latham

The room rate I had to pay was 15% over the rate I was given when I reserved the room online. It’s very rare a hotel does this and I was not the only guest to notice this last minute price gouging upon checking in. It was a real disappointment and not easily forgettable. The front desk is pleasant but under staffed and the facility is starting to show a bit of wear and tear. With so many other options close by I will not stay at this hotel again.

Clean, close to the highway, for a HIE they have a bar which is rare for the HIE’s out there. Close enough to Albany that you can commute to the city of you have to stay in the area. Front desk person was really helpful to me. I got in town early and casually dressed. My meeting got moved up 2 hours. She let me check in early when I explained my situation. I needed to get a suit on. I would definitely stay there again. Her hospitality alone would get me back there.

Clean rooms, amenities were fine. Typical HIE location. Nice sports bar attached with great burgers and good selection of beer on tap.

Very neat and clean… as my DH is a IHG rewards member we were upgraded to a very large room… only stayed for one night.

The king room was clean and comfortable. Nothing out of the ordinary until we got ready to check out the 2^nd morning. We had paid the agreed upon rate the first night and the second night the rate increased by $ 70.00. My husband talked to the front desk and she told us that many times the rates change over the weekend. However, the clerk checking us in did not inform us that the rate would increase for the 2^nd night. She told us that she would talk to that employee when she came in and that she would call us.
As we were checking out I figured we were stuck paying the additional room rate and that we would never hear from the employee again. But to our surprise she called and the employee verified our story and they credited the overage back to our account.
I thought that was extremely great customer service and wanted to make sure that other people out there knew how great Holiday Inn Express was to us. Thanks again!

I manage 4 apartment communities in the Capital District. One community had a fire on Saturday night 8÷8÷15 and it was a complete loss of four apartments. The Red Cross came to assist the residents in finding temporary housing at their expense and to give the residents money to get them on their feet.
I called the Holiday Inn Express in Latham because I am familiar with some of the staff and the owners and I knew displaced residents would be in good hands. I booked two rooms for two tenants and told the young lady on the phone they will be checking in with a Red Cross voucher. No problem. One of the residents was a complete mess and decided to stay with family instead. Within 45 minutes of booking the room I called the hotel back to cancel one room and explained why. (Believe me this women was such an emotional wreck it was actually better she was not in the hotel because she was crying and crying and crying). She needed to be with her family after this tragedy.
When I called back, Chris, answered the phone and I told him why I had to cancel — he started getting bad salesman like and bad customer service. He said that I better make sure the other resident shows up with the Red Cross Voucher because he has no rooms to sell and if he misses out on selling the room he was going to not be happy. I assured him this family was showing up and that I was currently with the family and Red Cross right now and they will be down shortly.
First of all Chris, you were very unprofessional and showed a lack of compassion for anyone and all you did was think of yourself. Second of all I went to On Tap on Sunday for lunch and there were about 5 cars in the parking lot and 4 people in the restaurant. So I am not clear on how you were short on rooms. In the past this hotel used to be packed at all times an especially during track season. Your unprofessional business skills are are showing their true colors.
For this I give you only a 3 star rating and those stars go to all the people who smile and care about the customers.

Nice hotel but if you’re not a coach or parent of a child on a sports team staying for a game, steer clear. There were 17 lacrosse teams plus other teams for other sports there during our stay (we were a part of 14 rooms for a wedding). The parents and coaches were no where to be found. Scavenger hunts in the pool, running up and down the hallways all night, rude kids that were unsupervised with nothing to do… it was terrible. Multiple guests complained, by the time we got around to speaking to someone (it took a few drunk parents trying to start fights with «regular guests» and refusing to leave the elevator) we were told the police were about to be called. Not a place I would bring my 6 year old ever again. After a few discussions it seems this is the norm for them.

We booked a reservation for a room with two beds. When we checked in they gave us a room with a single. When we returned to the front desk to correct the mistake they told us we had reserved the single bed room. We checked our email and had in fact reserved the two beds. It wasn’t an issue because they were able to find us the correct room. From there it got worse. Our room was on the first floor and right outside our window was a patio area. We returned to our room around 7 pm. There was a large party with live music going on out on the patio. It was extremely loud and there is apparently no sound proofing for these rooms. It ended up not mattering because we began finding insects in the room. Lots of them on the walls. Then a spider. I began looking up at the walls and sure enough, there was a web over the bed with spiders in it. My husband went to the front desk to get a refund because we were not sticking around. We had to leave at around 11pm. They apologized and did infact give us a full refund.

Do not believe the 5 star reviews! Customer service is awful and they do not accommodate to your needs at all! We booked this hotel in advance online. Drove all the way here from North Carolina. We first reached the front desk at 1am and the two ladies that worked there had no respect for us at all. After dealing with them we finally got up to the room just to find out that it wasn’t the one that we had specifically asked for. Went back down to tell them what happened and they rudely told us that there was nothing they could do because we got the nicest room they had. That room was not the nicest room because it was the lowest room you can buy! They again talked to us very rudely and we demanded a refund. However, they said it had to be refunded through the website we ordered it from. So I am still waiting for them to talk to the manager about issuing a refund. VERY dissatisfied with this hotel. Called the Hampton only a few miles away and got in immediately without any hassles. DO NOT LET THEM THINK THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO STAY. There are other hotels around that are much nicer for the same price.

for a college visit and paid two nights in advance, non-​refundable. Attempted to use the pool and hot tub, but the pool was visibly dirty. It had a top surface that was visibly not clean. The hot tub was ok. Left the hotel early in the morning after the first night and returned shortly before 5:00 to discover that the room had not been serviced even though we were gone for seven hours. I complained to the front desk and they promptly sent fresh towels. I brought it to the attention of the manager who said that they would adjust the bill.
When I opened my credit card bill today and I discovered that the hotel had charged me for both nights in addition to
. I tried contacting the hotel to resolve and got an answering machine with no call back. Inexcusable error.
Otherwise this appeared to be a fairly modern hotel in a convenient location. Room was clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. It was near the highway but I didn’t believe that the outside noise was unreasonable. Location is convenient to shopping areas and restaurants that were within a short drive. I might give it one more try if the double charge is dropped.

Absolutely wonderful customer service! Everyone has been so friendly and out of their way to make our stay memorable. The pool is the warmest pool I have ever experienced at a hotel. The onsite restaurant was wonderful and full of caring staff. We had an issue with our toilet and it was fixed immediately. I highly recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family. Perfect for our staycation!

This is about as good as a HI express or similar gets in my experience. Again, far from the fanciest hotel you’ll ever stay in, but for the basics in this price range, spot on. Arrived here after a long day on the road and were delighted to find the in-​house bar and restaurant (which is quite basic in appearance) served up very tasty food at very reasonable prices, and staff was very friendly. Indoor pool was ample. Courtesy upgrade to a very large suite, so we had plenty of room for all four of us and our ski gear.

After driving a good part of the day could not find the place via a stupid GPS. The stupid GPS sent me downtown Albany. Call the place and they gave me great direction to the place. Pool was good with plenty of natural light and there were plenty of towels. The sport bar, On the Tap, food and drink were good. Sat at the bar and the bartender was real good. They do need to update the logo they are using for the place. It was so 1980’s and does not do the place justice, since the place is modern. I would be more than happy to come up with a new one, free of charge, since I do this for a living and I had such a good time there. Liked the multiply setting on the shower head. Breakfast was fine, granted there was not wafflebot (yes, I know we live in an imperfect world). Could not figure out how to turn down the air conditioner, but that might have had to do with being drained from driving all day. The TV remote was missing when I got to my room, but by the time I got back form eating and drinking they had dropped one off. Granted they had left the TV on and it was on the Yankees game (not a fan, but it did not matter since Huston beat them) For some reason the fridge was not plugged in, since it was not near an outlet. Was not a problem to move it near one and plug it in.

Clean, professional hotel with friendly staff. And they upgraded my room. The free breakfast was very satisfying also. Will stay again when in town.

Wife stayed there and had booked 2 nights. She canceled 2^nd night after arriving, manager said fine, and within cancel period. They charged for the 2^nd night. Three calls to manager went un-​returned. Had to get refunded through national customer service.

Rooms clean, well set up. Front desk friendly. Restaurant (Sports Bar) on site. Since I’m here on business, don’t use many of the amenities.
Front desk helpful when I needed three hole punch. So that was good.

Decent HIX.
Standard in every way except they have a bar/​restaurant located on site.
Have stayed here frequently with no complaints.
10 minutes from the airport

Staff was friendly, breakfast was decent and room was clean. The only thing that I was dissatisfied with was the airport shuttle. Apparently this hotel does not have a 24 hour airport shuttle and I did not find this out until I was at the hotel. I advised them that their website is misleading because it does not say their shuttle only runs during certain times. My flight was leaving at 630am and their shuttle service didn’t even start until 7am. They said they would call a cab but I would be responsible for the cost. How can an «airport» hotel not be running when flights are landing and leaving Albany???

I’ve stayed her a few times now, and always had a very pleasant experience. They’ve upgraded me a few times, once I had a crazy suite that had a four poster bed! It was in the new section. The hotel staff has always been very nice.
Great wireless internet access! But when I first stayed in the new section of the hotel the wireless didn’t work, and you had to connect via ethernet. I’m not sure if they’ve updated it, but they had ethernet cables at the front desk to borrow.
When I checked in this time they informed me that the new restaurant in the hotel was opened, but I haven’t tried it yet.
