Goldstein Chrysler Jeep of Latham

Brought my 2004 jeep in for a trailer hitch recall, went there with my directionals working came out with none. Never left the parking lot went back to service and told them of condition, they state to busy to look at it now maybe 1 hour or come back Monday. Called service mgr. told that he will call me back, still waiting for that call.

Purchased a Patriot May of 2014. I love my car and had a great experience purchasing it. Actually the man who sold it to me took my photo with me standing by the car and then followed up weeks later in a letter along with the photo printed out. Really cute — I have it in the car.
The service department is extremely lacking. I have brought my car in for oil changes and tire rotations like I am supposed to and there hasn’t been any issues with that. The car wash hasn’t always been open but not a huge deal. My problem is when I took a day off of work to have two items added to the car — cross rails that snap on in about 5 min and a trailer hitch. I also asked for an oil change and a car wash. I took the day off because the service person who took my appointment said it would be better for them as they are busiest on the weekend. No problem.
I bring my car in at 8am on a Friday. I don’t get it back until Saturday afternoon and all that was done was an oil change. Long story short they never got to my car and they never ordered the cross rails. They had the car for 24 hours and never got to it because they were too busy. This is the answer I received mind you, not made up by me. I even said to the service person that I felt he was basically saying oh well and he didn’t disagree. This was going to cost me at least $ 500-​$ 600. It ended up being a free oil change. Best part — DIDN’T EVEN WASH THE CAR.
I am really surprise and upset at this situation. I have heard Mr. Goldstein doesn’t play around when it comes to these types of situations with his business. Yet I wrote him a letter and never received a response. Not even from a manager — no one.
Pros:

Really well kept location — (even the restrooms are clean and kept nice)

Free popcorn, hot dogs, donuts (if you are there early enough!) coffee and water
Cons:
Really long wait times for oil changes
Service team not always knowledgeable of service being done
Responsiveness with inquiries unacceptable

I would like to start this off by saying I am not a complainer. When I read the other poor reviews I just rolled my eyes. Having history in retail (or dealing with public in general) I figured only the people who have a hard time with this place have take the time to write reviews.
Anyway, I bought a 2008 Hyundai Accent though Goldstein. My initial experience was a very pleasant one. Which is the only reason I gave them a second star. The sales man I had was new and not very experienced but that was something I was fine with. He didn’t talk down to me or try to bully me into anything. I knew what I wanted, He listened and made it happen, which was refreshing because by the time I made it to Goldstein I had had enough of car salesmen and wasn’t very patient.
My issue arouse when I went back to have my car serviced which seems to be the problem for most of the reviewers. Firstly I was lied to about where I was able to take my car for service. I was worried about voiding my warranty. Goldstein told me that if I took my car anywhere else for any reason my warranty would be voided. I called the company that my warranty runs though and this is untrue.
My wheel bearings and stop lamp switch (the switch that makes the break lights come on when I hit the peddle) were going bad. I did a google search and found out that they have a recall on that switch for my car’s model and year. Like I stated earlier I called the company that deals with warrantees. I asked about my wheel bearing being covered. They explained that it should be covered and gave me a dollar amount that they would cover towards the work. (They would just need a licensed mechanic to give them a call and submit the work)
I got a call from the service desk, He first told me that they found nothing wrong with any bulbs. I explained that it wasn’t the bulb it was the stop lamp switch and that it worked intermittently. He brushed me off and told me if I needed that part it would be a while for that part to come in. He then tried to inform me that I don’t have a drive train warranty. (I do) Then he told me that to change my wheel bearing he would also have to change to entire hub assembly. If they changed the hub assembly then they would have to then fix my alinement. And all in all the total cost would be over $ 600. When I asked how much my warranty was covering he said no of it because I didn’t have those warranties. At this point I admit I was pretty frustrated so I handed the phone over to my fiancé who explained that we knew exactly what was covered. The person we were speaking to admitted to my fiancé that they never actually got a hold of the company who deals with the warranty because that company is not open on the weekends. I told him that I didn’t want anything on my car touched.
When I went in to pick my car up from them it took half an hour because they lost my key. And they wanted to charge me $ 100 for a diagnostic fee which they quickly waved when my fiancé asked why we weren’t informed about that fee. But not before the guy loudly made a snide comment about not wanting to work for free and making a show of writing on my receipt that I refused to pay for it. That receipt also said that a diagnostic fee was only $ 46 (I’ll update with a picture when I find the receipt) So where was the extra $ 54 coming from?

i gotta say that i’ve had a pretty good experience with this dealership. they adequately serviced a dodge vehicle i had leased at another latham dealer who had gone out of biz in 2010… so when it came time to get a new lease… i gave them a shot. nice car (newly redesigned 200), OK price (nothing down)…my only bitch about the deal was the service contract where THEY MAKE YOU BUY MUCH MORE THAN JUST SCHEDULED SERVICE ON THE LEASED VEHICLE. i only wanted to have my required oil changes and inspections covered for the term of the lease… I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR MUCH, MUCH MORE.
so…when that lease expired in 2014… i went across town to the ford dealership, and am currently driving a very nice escape titanium SUV.
i will say this about the LIFETIME CAR WASHES at goldstein. unless you have HOURS OF TIME THAT YOU DON’T NEED… do not even CONSIDER going to the dealership for JUST a car wash. you will be there for an hour or more.
they do have wifi, pretty good coffee, and hot dogs during the lunch hour… but i would still rather pay to have my car washed, and keep my free time free.

Some of these reviews on here are brutal, but I can definitely agree with certain complaints.
With that said, my review will be broken into two parts– Sales Dept and Service Dept.
As far as the Sales Dept, I have no real complaints. I never financed anything and my credit was pretty non-​existent at that point. Just for kicks I figured I’d give them a call and explain my credit+ financial situation, and told them what car I had interest in.
The person I spoke with told me that with what I was willing to put down on it, financing could very well be possible.
When I arrived, the car was warmed up and ready for a test drive. A 20 degree day in December in which snow has quickly begun to pile up and I’m testing a rear wheel drive BMW coupe sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it was my reality.
Things went pretty smooth and the salesman Joe was as helpful as possible, so I wanted it.
Joe informed me that their finance manager Pete Sanchez was great at his job and felt pretty confident he could get me financed. Holding of my breath wasn’t going to happen.
After waiting about 4 – 5 hours, he made it happen. I don’t know what agency he didn’t call to try and get me approved due to all the rejection notices I would receive over the next month or so lol.
Needless to say I was happy with the Sales Dept and would recommend them.
Now to the Service Dept. That part I can’t recommend.
Went in for the 30 day check in which I had an appointment and waited roughly two and half hours. Went in for an oil change a couple of months later and thought I would need to shave again by the time I got out of there. It was close to 4 hours before I got out that time.
Brought in another vehicle I didn’t purchase from there and that got misdiagnosed and cost me $ 300 that didn’t fix the problem. That was it for me going back there for service.

update, 7/​2014, after taking our case to Corporate Dodge we are getting our full refund. Goldstein never once called to offer a better deal or see what they could do to keep us happy and a returning customer. Won’t be going there. trying our a new dealership in Clifton Park, Zappone.
We have been having our two vehicles, a jeep and a dodge, serviced here for years. On June 13 my husband took his dodge in for new brakes before he left on a trip to boston. Paid the bill for both front and back brakes, started on his way to Boston and after going about 50 miles he went to slow down to go thru a toll booth and he had no brakes, none. This is less than an hour from when Goldstein said they replaced his brakes. He called and then had to wait 3 hours for a tow truck. Luckily beyond the toll booth there was a slight incline that saved his life. He got towed back and all they were concerned with was that they fixed his car. It was an error on their side where a bolt was not in all the way and I guess it split th brake line and he lost all of his brake fluid. Now he talk to the manager and she says something about free oil changes, what!!! My husband just about lost his life and that is all they are offering and that is all they are concerned about. Get real. Trying to see if they really care or will just ignore us. I see our original review disappeared so that is why I am writing it again.

Absolutely the worst service I’ve experienced ever. After purchasing a vehicle in May I was jerked around from the beginning. They couldn’t get it to pass inspection when I bought it so they told me to use the dealer plates for a few days and return. After sitting in the waiting area for two plus hours they still couldn’t get it to pass. I should have walked away right then. Stupid me. They told me to drive it for 100 miles then come in when the sensors were nice and warm. Sorry, I work and don’t have that kind of time. I brought it in a third time with half a tank of gas… two more hours with my thumb in my nose they came to tell me it passed. And left me on empty. A few days later it began jumping out of gear when I was driving. They said it was the rubber boot around the shifter. Not true because it still does it. I returned it a few weeks ago for the same issue and it sat in the same spot for 2 days and I never even got a phone call to let me know it hadn’t even been looked at. Great service fellas. Customer satisfaction my butt. I brought in my grand Cherokee and they quoted me $ 1000 for the fix so I inquired about the warranty. They voided it on me because I had the oil changed elsewhere… somewhere more convenient. I can’t even get a call back from Mr. Goldstein about it. Apparently he can take your money but not your calls. Crap dealer and crappier service.

It’s been a few years, but I still think «ewwww» whenever I drive by this place.
I had a car problem, not engine related, a pretty easy to fix problem. When the Service guy called to give me the price to fix it (and he specifically said «this is what it will cost to fix it»), it seemed quite high. Like, twice what I was expecting. But I bit the bullet. Sometimes you just want to move on. So, I go to pick it up, the hard-​faced Service cashier verbally repeated the amount owed about five times, until I managed to get it right on the check.
Later, I realized, why didn’t she just present me with the bill, so I could write the check from the total? That’s how it’s usually done. Well, it was obvious when I unfolded the bill. They had tacked on a $ 49.99 «diagnostic fee» although it was a yer-​gramma-​would-​know-​what-​the-​problem-​was kind of problem. Even though he specifically said «this is what it will cost to fix it», not «this is what it will cost to fix it, plus a diagnostic fee». Okay, I considered myself shorn, and wiser, and «well, I won’t be going back there, but, whatever». It wasn’t worth 50 bucks to me to try and talk to them, because I suspected there’d be no joy doing that, anyway. As I say, sometimes you just want to keep moving. You wipe your feet on the mat, and you keep moving.
But then, I get a message from a customer service rep there. «Was everything okay»? So, I was like, well, if they really want to know, I’ll tell them. When I called the rep back, he wasn’t at his desk, but the person who answered decided it would be best to put me right through to Service. That is where things went from ugly to UGLY. The Service guy, who, needless to say, had been Mr. Sweetness and Jollies up until then, became irate, and mocking, and really just repellently nasty. I mean, outstandingly nasty. Worst-​Retail-​Experience-​Ever nasty.
My experience there was wretched enough that I didn’t even want to write about it in a review. But now that a little time has passed, I finally am, in case it will save someone else a nasty whup upside the head.

I purchased a 2012 jeep this year with 1 mile on it. At mile 200 the Check engine light came on… The thermostat went. They sent me a free oil change coupon so I thought great! I made a Saturday appointment at 11am. I was 20 min early for my appointment and they assured me they would get it right in. I waited 80 min for an oil change… Enough said!
