I contacted Western Iron and they sent Harold out on Nov. 23 to give me an estimate. I gave him 1.2 of the cost for the security door on the 23^rd and he told me it would be ready in 2 – 3 weeks. Yesterday was 3 weeks so I called to see when it would be installed. The girl who answered the phone didn’t know anything and Harold was out. She said Harold would call me later that day, he didn’t so I called again. I was again told Harold or someone would call me back. This is the next evening, no one called me back so I called again… the girl didn’t answer my home phone so I called on my cell, surprise she answered. She still doesn’t know anything and now the owners wife is suppose to call me back. Please don’t get messed up with this company if you don’t want a headache.

No job too big or too small for this company. I had moved into a home that already had iron gates installed. The gate to the backyard was not proportioned correctly, sticking up about two feet above the brick wall and the safety gates at the front door were off their hinges… I would have to pull or yank to get the gates to close every time I went in the house. I was worried I would have trouble getting a company to come out and fix these two small issues. One call was all it took! They were happy to come out, give me a very reasonable quote and had it all fixed within days of my call. This company is professional, courteous and timely. I am saving up for my next home project… I know who I will be calling, Western Iron!

Had an appointment set for 9am ⁵⁄₁₈. No call! no show!

I found Western Iron by accident on Unilocal when I was looking up another iron company’s review and saw that Western had more happy clients. I called them instead and I’m so happy I did! Ryan, the gal who answered my call quickly dispatched Crispin to come do an estimate and I was super happy it worked with my budget. As soon as I got HOA approval they picked up my deposit at work and immediately started working on my custom door. Install was 3 days earlier than I had asked which was awesome. GREAT customer service, great communication and a project finished ahead of time. I’ve been recommending them to everyone on my street. Very happy customer!

I usually don’t share my experiences but this time around I believe it was warranted based on the money I paid for my security door and the quality of the door and installation. Ryan the receptionist was very nice during the first call made to Western Iron and was able to setup an appointment for a quote very quickly. She did mention they are very high on customer service and if I had any problems to call and let her know. Roy came out to my house and did all the measurements and was very nice as well. After going back and forth we came up with a price of $ 2000.00 for the door and a very nice design and powder coat finish called penny vein. Roy contacted me when the door was finished and we spoke about the installation which I was advised I don’t need to be home. The best installer, per the owner Shelley, came out and installed the door while I was at work. When I got home that night I was very upset with the finished product and installation of the door. The installer had drilled the holes for the door incorrectly and filled them with white putty on a turquoise finish for my door frame. Every tab but one had an extra hole with this white putty filled in it and they cracked the wood around every bolt with the extra hole drilled. I was told they were supposed to have been out to prefit the door and they could have only come if I was notified or at home which was never done and explains the incorrect holes that were drilled. In addition to the incorrect holes that were drilled and the cracked wood around all those holes (that was never fixed) now the door had some imperfections. The screen was bubbled in one area, the holes for the lock were drilled larger and not touched up and very noticeable, there was and still is small gaps at the foot plate of the door which is noticeable when walking up to the door and our front door is open the light shows these gaps very well, there was 2 areas where the door seemed to rub up on something and left nice size marks on the door (this was fixed with the 2^nd powder coating) and last the bolts drilled into the door frame were damaged when the door was installed and you could see the powder coat came off and they were not touched up (this has also been fixed). At this time I was in contact with the owner Shelley who said they will remove the door and it will be redone and perfect. The door was finished a 2^nd time and Roy called again for the installation. I advised Roy this time I want to be home and Roy agreed and advised me they would install the door Saturday. Come Friday night I had not heard of anything and called Roy and was told the owner Shelley stated they could not install the door Saturday due to having to pay her guys overtime. I became upset and Roy had Shelley contact me. I explained to Shelley this was very unacceptable for an amount of $ 2000.00 I was being charged for a security door on a 1600 square foot home. We do not live in a huge custom home but have a little bit then larger front door, I believe its 9 feet tall basic width. Shelley went on to explain «my installer goes to church on Saturday and that to send her guys on overtime that it needs to be worth the money». By that statement she explained she likes to have multiple jobs in that area or it turns into a loss for the business. This statement made me more upset. I felt like I was not a priority at this point and they will get to me when they can. I calmly explained for the price I’m paying I want to be home and even told her they can do it Sunday which they did. Shelley had asked for the color code for my house so the frame could be fixed which I did provide in a timely manner. When they came out the 2^nd time they actually added 2 pieces of iron on the inside of the frame that now covers the extra 2 holes in about 7 different spots along with the cracked wood. They never seemed to have even planned to fix my door frame which I could have done with wood filler and paint from the paint code I provided before the door was installed. At this point they installed the door and with one of the bottom bolts could not get it to tighten because of the previous holes made. The installer grabbed a longer bolt and drilled it in sideways to work but now my wood frame has been pulled away from the stucco part and there is a gap. At this point I paid them and will have to live with the imperfections and possible damage to the door frame. I just hope the frame doesn’t start coming apart down the road. Roy did follow up with a call about a week later and I explained to him my frustrations I still have. Shelley the owner has yet to call to follow up on the unacceptable job her installers do. Not only was Western Iron competitive with pricing but their work was also very professional. Plus I was pleasantly surprised when the owner called me after the job was completed to see how I liked it. I admitted there was one minor problem and she did not hesitate to send over a foreman to rectify the problem, free of charge of course. Most companies don’t want to hear from their customers after the work is finished and paid for because it may cost them a truck roll and labor. Not Western Iron — their main concern is making sure the customer is happy and that goes a long way toward getting repeat business in my book. That’s why I called them for my security doors and windows, a full year after they did such a nice job on my fence. I highly recommend their services if you want to deal with a company with integrity.

I had my new side gate measured, fabricated and installed in about a week. It’s perfect, simple, and easy to use. Best part is the gate actually opens now, and the old chain link gate that was not really on hinges is gone. My pool guy is very happy and I am stoked to have that finally done. It’s been four years with the other gate, just because I did not realize how easy and inexpensive it was. I would have done it much sooner had I found these guys sooner.

With the economy in ruin, property crime is up. The formerly nice neighborhood where I live now has meth labs.
Our neighbor caught a prowler trying to break in WHILE WE WERE ASLEEP INSIDE! Time for burglar bars. This company provided good value and service. I recommend them whole-​heartedly. They are an established company with contracts for major homebuilders. Mine was just a small job but they were friendly and pleasant to deal with, as if I were a big spender.
They are busy, so a wait of two weeks is possible. If you leave a voice mail message, they may not reply the same day. It’s a serious breach of business etiquette, but sometimes you have to make allowances.
Our top-​notch police force caught the prowler but I have no word on whether charges were filed.
