Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care

Our dog, Toodlebug, ate something off the sidewalk and was acting in such a way that we were very concerned. We took Toodlebug to the emergency vet immediately as it was late at night. They were so super kind and patient with us and so understanding. They did a thorough exam of Toodlebug and told us what to expect. Toodlebug was okay and recovered just as they had expected. We were so impressed with their bedside manner and service to people with a potentially sick pet. My husband and I are so thankful to have such a service in our community. We highly recommend them to anyone who needs to go to a vet late at night or on a weekend after normal business hours. It was worth every penny.

If you’re looking for an emergency animal clinic make this one your last choice! The fees are extremely high and I left feeling like the vegetarians only cared about the money and less and about my poor suffering animal. :(

Human greed at its absolute finest!
We took our dog to our normal vet where he was diagnosed with a life threatening condition. They said he would need surgery right away to save his life. Our vet called Veterinary Emergency + Critical Care and spoke to the veterinary surgeon who gave a quote of $ 2500-​$ 3000. We were barely able to afford this but were willing to pay it to save our beloved dog’s life. We drove across town to bring him here and lo and behold, because it was in the «evening» (no more than 30 – 45 minutes had passed from the time our vet spoke to these people to when we arrived across town at their facility), the vet Frank Fasanella increased the surgery quote from the original $ 2500-​$ 3000 to $ 4500-​$ 6200. When we told them there was no way we could afford the increased price of the surgery they stated that the price is non-​negotiable, but we could call our credit card providers for them to increase our limits! The only other option they gave us was to euthanize him in one of their back rooms right then and there. We opted to take our pup from these uncaring, money-​hungry people and instead to take him home and keep him as comfortable as possible, where we planned for him either to spend his remaining time that night with his family who loved him or have an at-​home vet visit scheduled in the morning so we could euthanize him in a place where he wasn’t terrified. He ended up passing away a little over an hour after we arrived home, surrounded by the people who loved him. They could have saved his life for the original price but the heartless and greedy staff at this facility only wanted to play on our emotions and milk us for every penny we don’t have. To top all of this off, the next day we received an email from the vet, Frank Fasanella, titled «Discharge instructions for PETS NAME» outlining a complete lie about options that were supposedly given to us when we were there, then essentially mocked our decision to take him home instead of immediately euthanizing him there where he was stressed out and scared. Please avoid this place. There are many other veterinarians in town who actually care about pets and their families and are much more capable of doing their jobs in the compassionate manner it should be done in.

I have taken several pets to this facility and don’t think I will ever go back. You must realize that this is a very expensive practice and they need to keep it running so they will suggest tests, procedures, and even surgeries that are very costly that are not necessarily needed. Most recently I took a pet for an ultrasound that cost me over $ 600.00 then they wanted to do blood work and other tests for a total cost of $ 1000+. My vet recommended that I get an ultra sound there. She already did several blood work tests and other tests. My pet is fine and showing no symptoms. Even when all the tests were normal the vet, who would never return phone calls!, was still trying to find something and wanted to do a procedure/​surgery at the cost of $ 5,000. What a rip off. I guess if you are in a pinch and have an emergency and have unlimited amount of money this place might be ok other than that I would not recommend them. I wasted over $ 1000 for nothing! Please beware and find a good vet that you trust before you go here.

The staff that works here is incredible! Very helpful and comforting to your furry family members. We just lost one of our 2 and a half year old labs, Belli last night during her emergency surgery here. Doctors did everything they could and gave her a chance to come out okay. Unfortunately for her and us, she didn’t make it. They tried going in to fix what Craig Road Animal Hospital messed up, (why we even had to come here in the first place). We were thankful for everything they did for her and for us. This is the only place I trust from now on to deal with my babies.

My dog had found rat poison blocks in our garage and was nibbling on them when we got home. I gave them a call and we were able to talk to a tech and tell them what had happen. The gentleman we spoke to suggested we bring our dog in right away.
Once we arrived, we were greeted with a smiling face. Everyone who was here tonight was very friendly & caring. We felt that the doctor who examined our dog was caring & honest. She did not try to perform any extra procedures that may not have been necessary. Which is just the opposite treatment I’ve received from other vet hospitals. Our experience here was great and would recommend them to anyone looking for emergency care.

They were wonderful! My handsome pit bull «Bowser» was seizing vomiting and couldn’t walk acting a lot like he had brain damage and he was even losing control of bowls. Just from telling them the symptoms and quick look at him and everyone knew he had eaten something and overdosed. They were fast sweet and truthful. A bit expensive but they have my trust. That’s hard to find so I’m happy to have them so close to my home in case of any emergencies! Though my dog was sick he left there as if he had a wonderful experience! Thank you very much for taking sweet care of him!

When my normal vet could not figure out what was wrong with my dog they found the problem and was quick to fix it. They are a little more pricey then a normal vet, but they do make it worth while. I had to bring my 1 year old with me that was growing cranky by the min. They help me out as much as they could with coloring books, crayons, and even a stuffed toy. They even put cartoons on the TV for him and even played games. They went out of there way in every aspect.
They even managed to fit me in with the opthamologist when I was going to have to wait 3 more days to see him. Thanks to them my dog is already getting better and getting back to his old self. The facility is nice as well. Favorite part is all the photos of animals they saved with thank you notes on them. Nice touch :)
Over all I wish there was one outstanding staff member that I could speak about, but I meet at least 20 people that worked there during my visit and they all did a outstanding job.

VE+CC is as good as it gets for emergency care for your pet! Incredible, experienced, friendly staff.
We have a Megaesaphagus dog who went into labored breathing on Sat night. We took him over about 1am. They were familiar with ME and diagnosed Aspiration Pneumonia, which we suspected. He was immediately put on IV fluids and Antbiotics.
We didn’t pick him up until 1pm on Sunday… new vets, new nurses, etc… nobody skipped a beat. Everyone was aware of what had been done before.
Yes, it’s expensive, but worth every penny for Emergency Care. Can’t say enough good things about everyone on staff there.

Our dog ingested bug spray after our vet closed for the day. We called this emergency clinic and they recommended we come in due to his hyper-​salivation, which is a sign of poisoning. They were super nice on the phone. We brought our pup in at around 9pm and 15 minutes later we were walking out the door. They told us what to watch for during the next 24 hours and that he should be fine. The tech was super nice and helpful and answered all our questions patiently. This will be our go-​to emergency clinic the next time our dog eats something poisonous.

Even though I hope no one ever has to go here, I will share our experience.
Our little girl was diagnosed with sudden onset IMHA by our regular vet. He said to get her here as soon as possible, which e did. It took two weeks and was very expensive, but they saved her life. They were receptive to us calling and let us stop by to see her as often as we wanted when she was awake. It was such a traumatic experience but the staff here was so great.
More importantly, the doctors here know what they are doing. To the point my vet deferred to them completely about what the plan of action was going to be. They told us the options and didn’t let us give up hope, even when things were really, really bad.
…and in the end, we had a win for the home team. With a happy healthy chunky little Shi-​Tzu girl.

Amazing attention to detail. We took our 17 year old cat there when she had a clot bouncing around and they comforted us and helped us through our emergency. They did the blood test and checked vitals. We were so grateful for all that they did for us. Abby is still very active and I attribute it to their emergency care.

We love our regular vet, but this emergency hospital has been clutch through multiple puppy moments. Their customer service is terrific and the vets are always thorough with their examination. We are lucky we live around the corner since we have three dogs and have been here at least 5 times!
If you’re pet needs specialty care or you need an urgent care vet, this is the best place to go.

Now of course they had to prepare me for the worse case scenario and I had to make a large deposit in case of that.
OK so I did have to be a little assertive to get my way… But they ended up being very accommodating to my «mommy instincts».
They let me take my dog home per my request after she was diagnosed. And to help accommodate my request gave me a lesson on how to care for her at home including some basic medical procedures when I assured them I could handle it.
I feed my senior dogs a whole food vegan diet, treat them with natural medicine, and follow my intuition on their treatment (but of course if something is wrong I back that up with a full veterinary diagnoses and check-​ups too).
I was very surprised and relieved that they let me treat my dog the way I wanted after the diagnoses. Not all vets will have this conversation with me.
My vet bill came out to less than the initial deposit and I was refunded (also in part due to thankfully my dog having something curable).

Good in a pinch. The Dr. That helped my kitten, Dr. Love, was kind & patient. She saved my kitten’s life, from a bad vaccine batch. It’s not cheap, at a minimum of $ 100 per office visit. The staff on the other hand was terrible. Rude & judgmental is putting it mildly. If not for the kindness of the Dr., I wouldn’t recommend bringing your animals here under any circumstances. They are 24/​7, which is nice. I just pray I don’t have another emergency outside of my regular vet’s office hours.

I came here on emergency; My 3yr old dachshund hind legs went suddenly limp (common in doxies). The doc and nurse explained ALL my options. I didn’t feel like i was being jerked around. I opt’d to put her down to stop her suffering. They were very compassionate and were very gentle with my pup. I was only able to hold my girl for the anesthesia and opt’d for the doc to take her for the last shot; i just couldnt handle it. Everyone, down to the receptionist, showed the utmost professionalism and respect and i can’t tell you how much all of those things meant to me. There is an option to keep your animals ashes, which i thought was nice for those who are interested.

I found a dog very late at night and needed a micro-​chip scan to try to locate the owner. The lady that helped me was so nice. The vet even did a quick evaluation to tell me the an approximate age of the dog based on a dental evaluation. They also were nice enough to weigh the dog for me so I could accurately describe the dog with an internet posting.
The dog did not have a micro-​chip but I was able to find the owner by posting on a few Facebook pages for Lost & Found Pets. Yay!!!

I have been to this hospital several times in the past for emergencies and diagnosis for one of my dogs. The care and service USED to be Fabulous.
Let me just say it is no longer the case. One of the current vets that is supposed to be caring for my dog told me 3 days before Christmas that he would do research on how to treat my almost 18 year old dog and get back to me. Today is Jan. 20 and I have NEVER heard back from him or anyone else at the hospital!!!
I have called and left a message explaining this, only to be made to feel I was aggravating the not so caring girl that happened to answer the phone.
I have since gone back to my regular vet for treatment. Call me crazy but my dog could be dead waiting for the «vet» from this place to call me back.

Pros:
I love the staff here. There Friendly and truly care about the welfare of your pets. I wouldn’t take my dog any where else.
I especially enjoy the rehab technicians and the ophthalmology department.
Cons:
It’s gonna cost u every time u come here. But for my pet I pay for quality not quantity of care he gets.
The choice is inevitably yours. I would definitely tell you to give these folks a try.
