Vesper Bar

I’m a cocktail nerd. For example, I have a collection of 10 different bitters and tinctures sitting on my kitchen counter. So you could imagine how much I didn’t find any of the standard Las Vegas Strip cocktails very exciting (But we have 25 different frozen drinks available!!!).
Finally we found this wonderful little bar in the lobby of the Contemporary Hotel.
You wouldn’t expect it to be a place where they can make good cocktails. It’s a lobby bar right? I mean, when we walked up we saw some bros drinking Bud lights.
But then we asked the bartender if he had a cocktail menu and his eyes lit up and he got us a menu and there were all these wonderful classic cocktails listed. Once we ordered he started mixing and shaking and then delivered us two wonderful drinks.
They were pricy but we’re on the strip and in an upscale resort hotel so it was appropriate and the value was there.

Skewed ratings, bunch if regulars… Really just an average bar, if that, with weak drinks. If u like overpaying and getting crappy service then sure, maybe this bar is for u… But if ur like most ppl, going to vegas for vacay, u def don’t want to pay hella high prices with no customer service!

I love this bar. I’m a local and come here probably 5 times a month. Bar staff are awesome and great to talk to. The atmosphere is great and the drinks are strong. Thank you guys.

One of my fav places to get a very nice crafted cocktail in Vegas.
The bartenders are very knowledgable and they don’t have the snooty attitude that a lot of other places tend to exude.
Years ago Misti Y. had suggested this place and we have been a fan ever since.
We always come here prior to dinner at Milos, shows and other occasions. We sit up at the bar and get a better experience than Chandelier Bar, not sure why but it’s happen every time.
Now that Clique (revamp from prior hotspot) is packed all the time, swing by Vesper, you will have a great experience in this hidden gem.

Enjoyed a quiet drink and cigar in the Vesper. The server was lovely and spent a little time with chit-​chat. A nice escape from the casino madness. A great stiff drink. The cigar girl knew her stuff, trimmed my stogie, and lit it perfectly.

I LOVE THIS BAR! It’s at the bottom floor of the Cosmopolitan hotel and is open 24 hours. It’s the ultimate chameleon in terms of morphing into whatever you need it to be at the time. I’ve seen people at 8am drankin in shorts and polo shirts and drankin at 2am in after clubbing-​wear.
A bunch of my friends and I went and snagged a little table with seats. This bar is awesome for people watching, I feel like it’s low key enough where the bachelorette parties don’t go here because it doesn’t lend for the best photo opportunities (they go to chandelier instead) so people are here to drink, wait, process ahem transactions. (There were many pros around) It’s really truly great for people watching, the diversity is just so amazing and the fact that Cosmo is still semi-​hot a lot of random people not staying here show up to hang out.
The Vesper Martini is their signature drink which I didn’t get but all my guy friends did, heehee. I got the Wanderlust and it was DELICIOUS. I’m so bummed I didn’t take a picture of what it actually was described as, all I can say is it was refreshing, NOT overly sweet and somewhat citrusy. I also ate the grapefruit slice that came with it. The best part was the black salt rim, it was so… solid. Any salt rim I’ve ever had dissolves so quickly but this salt held its shape and I was just lickin and muchin. Hubs got the Hot mule which is basically a moscow mule, I was too happy with my drink to taste his. The service was super slow but who’s really in a hurry in vegas. The drinks are steep at $ 16 per pop but what can you expect, it’s vegas and it’s the Cosmo.
I can’t wait to come back here, I don’t know that I would travel from another hotel to hang out here but if I stay at Cosmo again I definitely will come here to chill out.

Sitting pretty while being surrounded by mirrored tiles with a beautiful, wooden, ornate, liquor cabinet that serves as the main bar, Vesper is a throwback to James Bond swankiness with a modern contemporary twist — classy and contemporary! Vesper Bar sits right next to the lobby and across the way from the west tower elevators. There’s no way you can miss this little gem. While it doesn’t have the glitz and glamour of fellow Cosmo resident bar, The Chandelier, The Vesper is still charming on its own. Beautiful ladies dressed in lace serves you and you’re still paying $ 16+ per drink. Ah, The Cosmopolitan life.
I myself only had one drink this particular night. Given that I was in the company of some cutie Hawaiian guys, one of them suggested I get the «Aloha Means Goodbye.» Described as a «Thai influenced Mai Tai with Kai Coconut Pandan Vodka, Velvet Folernum, Fresh Lime Juice, Pistachio Orgeat Coco Cream, Birdseye Chili, Ginger Beer,» I was all for it. Our server, Dana I believe, sat herself down on a plush poofy chair and served us our drinks. It was delicious and crisp! It was deceivingly smooth and sweet and the alcohol snuck up on me after I was halfway done. I dig it. Ciders, pineapple and rum, and shots of whiskey were had in the group and we had a pleasant night. I definitely wouldn’t mind stopping into Vesper again — even if we did pop in only because The Chandelier was busy!

Vesper Bar is all smoke and mirrors. Well, mirrored tiles at least. After a cider and some shots of Jameson, even a place as wild as the Cosmo on a Saturday night seems more chill.
Really, though, I did enjoy the ambiance the Vesper Bar brings to the table. Being that it’s basically right in the lobby of the Cosmopolitan hotel, it’s not the type of bar that’s overly flashy: cough: Chandelier: cough, which is okay with me! All I was there to do was catch up with a lifelong friend, so relaxed vibes were just right.
When we arrived, we’d gotten there a little while before the others, so we had to wait a bit. The wait staff was surprisingly nice about this, considering we were there on arguably the busiest night of the week, just sitting there and not ordering anything. But, after the waitress came over a couple of times and asked if we were ready, we just obliged and ordered a couple of things off of the menu that sounded good. I got an apricot cider to start with, which was tart as expected, but very good! It was a nice little drink to sip on while conversing with my buddy. The fact that it loosened me up a bit, didn’t hurt either (#IntrovertLyfe). My companion, The Empress, ended up getting a type of mai tai that they called the Aloha Means Goodbye, which was all sorts of fruity and good. I actually kind of wish I’d gotten one of those, to be honest!
After a while, we decided on taking a few shots, which was pretty cool, being that it was technically both of our first times being in a bar and having drinks as legal patrons. I have to say, it wasn’t something that I’d ever dreamed of happening, being that although we we’re childhood friends, we’ve both ended up living in different states, not even really talking to each other too much with our own things going on. So it was pretty cool for us to hit that milestone together despite all that.
All in all, I thought it was a really nice experience at Vesper. Whether that’s because of the people I was there with or because of the greatness of the establishment, I can’t be sure, but either way, I liked it. I’d definitely recommend stopping by there for a drink if you end up in Cosmo (or if Chandelier bar is all full, in our case)!

The Vesper is a cocktail that was originally made of gin, vodka, and Kina Lillet. The drink was invented and named by secret agent James Bond in the 1953 novel Casino Royale:
«A dry martini,» [Bond] said. «One. In a deep champagne goblet.»
«Oui, monsieur.»
«Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-​cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?»
«Certainly, monsieur.» The barman seemed pleased with the idea.
«Gosh, that’s certainly a drink,» said Leiter.
Bond laughed. «When I’m…er…concentrating,» he explained, «I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be large and very strong and very cold and very well-​made. I hate small portions of anything, particularly when they taste bad. This drink’s my own invention. I’m going to patent it when I can think of a good name.»

Many of my Unilocal friends have raved about this place, so when I last found myself in Sin City, how could I not stop by? Vesper is right off the lobby of the Cosmopolitan; it’s about as close to an oasis as you’re going to find without leaving Las Vegas.
The first thing you notice when you enter the Vesper is the vibe. It’s modern, sophisticated, classy and very elegant. See for yourself:

Having heard the cocktails were stratospheric, I tried a «Brass Ring» (High West Silver Whiskey, La Diablada Pisco Lillet Rose, Rhubarb Tea Liquor, Peychauds & Plum Bitters).
This drink was OK, but it tasted like I actually had a mouthful of brass. Once was more than enough.
Wanting to end on a positive note, I ordered their signature cocktail — the Vesper
; my first one. My friend Janice C. aka Vesper (who should have been a Bond Girl) shares her name with this amazing cocktail for good reason. Like her, it’s strong, potent, sexy, knows how to get things done, and is totally habit forming. I recommend them both highly, but if you choose the cocktail you won’t have to deal with Janice’s bf ;-)
Whether you need a break from the thrashing Auric Goldfinger at Baccarat in the Casino, or just get thirsty and want to whet your whistle, the Vesper Bar is the perfect place to throw back a premium cocktail in high-​end style. If you get hungry after a drink or four, you should check out Secret Pizza, which is my absolutely favorite pizza joint in Las Vegas. Secret Pizza is right upstairs

I’ve loved this bar for a long time, the drinks are great and I love the atmosphere! But I was shocked with how understaffed they were last night, seeing as how there were UFC fights at The Chelsea that evening. Vegas can get super packed whenever there are fights in town. It took 30+ minutes for someone to notice us and another 30 minutes to get our cocktails… I was shocked at how understaffed they were on a busy Friday night. It isn’t the waitresses fault, they were doing as much as they could and kept smiles on their faces. I ordered the Signature Cosmo which I love but it came without a garnish, I thought that was odd since it usually does. When you pay $ 33+tip for two basic cocktails and slow service, it can be a little frustrating.
Also, The Henry (very limited menu) and Secret Pizza (take away pizza) WERE THE ONLY restaurants open past midnight on a crazy busy Friday night!!! Holsteins lounge was also open for apps but it was tiny and way too loud with the DJ they had hired… I was bummed because my friend who is a journalist for UFC was in town and we were trying to catch up after he got off work): we ended up leaving after the drink at Vesper to get something to eat/​drink somewhere else.

Came here 11÷11÷15 for a delicious first date and I came 15 min early and told Julian my bartender I was going on a blind date and this guy not only makes a great drink but he came over just enough to check on me/​us and was so on point that I’m blown away and I’ve worked with some amazing mixologists and bartenders ever. Thank you Julian!

Cool little bar located near the rear entrance of the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. This is another one of Cosmo’s swanky yet intimate bars that are out on the casino floor. The décor is nice and modern and the ambiance is cozy yet active. The drinks are fairly strong as the bartenders tend to have a generous pour. The main objective of this place is to grab a couple of drinks, mingle amongst your peeps and watch the oddities that walk through the area.

It’s Columbus Day, and I’m with a friend lucky enough to have an open tab at Bellagio at her disposal that she’s not footing the bill for. After bumming around there for a bit, she decided she needed a change of scene and asked to relocate to The Cosmpolitan. Okay… but…why would we do that when we have an open tab?
«It’s this fun game I like to play where we flirt and get free drinks!»
I went along with this and almost instantly was of the opinion that the real game winner would be getting out of there sober given the amount of men desperately trying to pour alcohol down my throat. You didn’t need to be hot, or even cute to be offered a drink. You didn’t need to flirt. All you needed to show up with an ostensible vagina.
We sit down at Vesper Bar and I’m immediately greeted by a rather alarming number of overly-​eager male eyes that were persistently directed my way no matter how long I pointedly looked elsewhere or stared the drooling faces they belonged to down with an unflinching cold stare.
Asshole On The Right starts a conversation with me. He oozed douchiness, so you’ll have to forgive me for hearing his name and immediately tossing it into my mental trash bin. I tolerate him for a short while, he tries to insist on buying me a drink, which I refuse, and he persistently reminds me that if I change my mind, it’s on him.
Eventually AOTR makes some weird reference to «all the hookers.»

He then launches into a long boring explanation about how *those women* would never be talking to *those men* unless money was changing hands.
I smelled jealously and didn’t particularly feel like going on a feminist rant nor pointing out the irony given that he was trying to ply me with free booze to grasp onto my attention (or make my pants magically fly off my body), so I just turned 180 degrees and let AOTR get acquainted with my back.
One of the men who had been eyeing me earlier like he had recently finished a juice fast and I was a plate of bacon took this opportunity to move down the bar and assume the position of Asshole On The Left. My conversation with AOTR had already drained what little feminine warmth I had to offer and left AOTL literally nothing to work with.
My face expressed nothing but boredom and I stared ahead sullenly, occasionally throwing a blank look at him when he said something remarkably stupid. Oddly, he rewarded my ice queen routine with compliments about my attitude. When he commented on how hot I was he almost immediately interrupted himself to say I must already know that. I nodded sagely and silently let him continue to babble himself deeper into the black hole of my disdain.
Eventually he brought up the «hookers,» with a racially insensitive comment to boot.
Had I sought his approval I still wouldn’t have hidden my reaction, since my disgust with him directly correlated with his desperation to impress me.
I blew up at him, brandished my hand back towards AOTR exclaiming that I’d already heard a similar remark.
«Why are you all so fixated on ‘whores’?!» (their word, not mine)
At this point he started furiously backpedaling and pretended to get the sads (maybe he actually did have the sads over the fact that his calculated odds of my pants ending the evening on his hotel room floor had suddenly diminished). He pointed out an old man who couldn’t have anything to offer the hot young woman at his side other than money (according to AOTL) and said he was just REALLY upset by all the sexist comments he and his male counterpart had been making.
The bartender appears. My (white?) knight in shining armor.
He stared AOTL dead in the eye and much to my surprise and extreme delight uttered the following:
«Maybe you should try a different approach… Like, ask her about what she likes to do… about her passions. You know, let her do some of the talking.»
I cracked my first genuine smile of the hour and this prince retreated back to his job. (White knight jokes aside, I absolutely adore this man whose name I sadly don’t know).
AOTL looked like he’d been punched in the stomach, and attempted to mock the bartender’s sense of humor.
And then, «…so what are you passionate about?» I’ll let your imagination run wild with that talking point that ultimately served the purpose of him embarrassing himself further.
I have only one regret of the evening besides not catching my white knight’s name and maybe even rewarding him with my number. He returned at one point, saw me fiddling on my phone and ignoring AOTL who was still waiting for me to look up and humiliate him further and asked me if I was on Tinder.
I replied with a curt «no,» which was just fucking dumb.
He’d teed it up for me to further crush the spirits of AOTL and I was too distracted by sleep deprivation (it was 4:30am at this point) to notice.
TL;DR: beautiful space, excellent service, and plenty of fucking douchebags to entertain you and buy drinks for anyone with an ostensible vagina between 2 & 5am.

Wonderful bar. Low lifting. Order taken quickly when you went up to the bar. Tables and chairs easily movable. More of the beautiful people. Went on a Monday around 9:30pm and it was relatively full.
Sitting facing the pillars at the front desk is mesmerizing. The pillars change scenes.

Seems that the hiring for this mixology bar has taken a bit of a bad turn. Except for some of the regulars, some of the newer hires just aren’t up to par. It was really disappointing. I knew things were going downhill when the bartender – trying to impress me, I guess (?) – told me that bourbon has to come from Kentucky. Well, no, it doesn’t. I should have said something. I guess I am doing that now!
Also, for a mixology bar, the selection of the whisk (e)ys has fallen into something that’s very underwhelming.
Next trip (soon!) we may have to start looking for a new favorite (or only hit it when the real guys are working).

Vesper is located in the Cosmopolitan Hotel on the Vegas strip. Named after the James Bond character (you’ve seen Casino Royale, right?), it’s similar to its counterpart in the same hotel («Bond») but it has its own charm to it. The bar is gorgeous looking and the drinks are strong and well made.
The menu we had offered up traditional cocktails along with a more modern take on each. For example, I ordered the Bobby Burns (a scotch cocktail from the 30s), but underneath it was something called «The Mother Club» which is an Asian version of the drink. In a likewise manner, you can order «The Last Word» (a gin-​based cocktail from prohibition times) or the newer interpretation jokingly called «I’m Going to the Bathroom to Read» — an Elvis reference.
Prices are what you expect — about $ 16 a drink. But the seating is very comfortable, the bar is lit just right, the location is good for people watching, and finally, the servers are very pleasant and helpful.
Vesper is exactly what I expect from an upscale bar/​lounge. It’s too bad I can’t afford to go there all the time. =)

Located in my favorite hotel Cosmopolitan. It’s close to the entrance by the concierge. The bar is modern, sophisticated, and classy.

I told Alan the Bartender to recommend a cocktail that was fruity but strong. He ended up creating something for me. I didn’t ask for the name of my drink but on the receipt it’s called Hendricks Martini Bump. On top was foamy with a hint of strawberry flavor. Second round, I got a Lemon Drop. My friend got Johnnie Black and Yamazaki. We liked our drinks!

Alan was very friendly. He made our drinks perfect and we talked to him for a bit. I like how he offered to create my drink for me instead of just pointing out a drink in the menu.

Cool, sleek, swank bar located close to the Cosmopolitan lobby. As you order a drink, this cool place to people watch or watch the lobby LED columns change scenes. It’s a bar you think you’d run into a celebrity or James Bond.
Bartenders here are friendly. They also serve Japanese whisky which is always a plus for me. Drinks here are pricey which is expected for a sleek bar like this.

Worst experience I ever had at cosmo, the two bartenders Julian and Jordan were snobby and rude! I’m not even sure if it’s the fact that I’m an Asian or because I was there with my boyfriend. I saw these two bartenders, Julian and Jordan exchanging comments and obviously toward us. They even made a sarcastic comment. I asked: what type of drink do you recommend when I usually order appletini? To which Jordan suggested «a shot of jäger,» and just simply walked away?! This was truly nothing short of a disappointment from such a chic hotel. I hope the management and the customers will take notice of my review.
Update:
I just want to set the record straight that I wrote this review on 12÷26÷14, the day of my experience. I just received (12÷29÷14) a very nice and personal message from one of the bartender Jordan himself. It was very nice of him to explain the situation, and that’s what I call «class.»

Deep inside the Cosmoplitan the Vespa bar is a cocktail partakers dream. The variety of cocktails is impressive and you can order off the menu and have one the bartenders mix something special. This place is not a bargain, the cocktails are priced steep, but very tasty.
I have tried a few different cocktails and generally all of them have been very good. If you don’t know what you want or can’t decide, it’s easier to to tel the mixologist what you like and have them go wild.
