«He trod on sacred ground, he cried aloud into the crowd «(I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar, I’m not a gangstar)» — — — — — — — — — — — — — — In a Sentence™ «Win with the Rebels a victory today!» Quick Review™ + The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels are Our team. For a nominal cost — even free for registered students — Las Vegans … real Las Vegans … can support our team. Our boys(and girls). — Where we are failing abysmally: in actually supporting them. Why is that? Employee of Excellence™ Jerry Tarkanian. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — «Win with the Rebels a victory today! «Win with the Rebels, the Scarlet and Gray. «From mountains that surround you to far across the sea «We’ll win with the Rebels of UNLV. «U-N-L-V UNLV Go, Fight Win. «We’ll win with the Rebels of UNLV.» — — — — — — — — — — — — — — First off, a sincere thank you to Cassandra B. in being a trailblazer in taking the time in her busy life to dutifully create this listing last year, the year we lost our greatest coach ever. Thank you, Cassandra.(Everyone loves an additional listing to check in at!) The Runnin’ Rebels are our team. I have been waiting for the people of Las Vegas to come to their senses and support what is clearly our team. However, I will wait while seated inside the T&M, at times surrounded by classless Aztecs fans with no UNLV supporter within reach. The truth is that some people will never come around and frankly, those people are not missed. We need real, true fans, not individuals who are not real Las Vegans. Not real Rebels. Pro Tip: attend games. Cheer on your team instead of fantasizing about some professional franchise from Northern California being brought in to play another sport. Pro Tip: parking is free. Free! Pro Tip: there is a statue of the greatest Runnin’ Rebel outside in front of the Cox Pavilion steps. Pay homage. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — The Runnin’ Rebels play in a small arena( ) without a bad seat in the house. The Lady Rebels play in an even smaller pavilion( ), unless competing in the MWC tournament during March. They play with heart, determination, and grit. They represent our tough Battle Born — Battleborn! — community to the best of their particular abilities in a game that is ultimately very entertaining for spectators. Let’s follow up on this: go to a game. If you are entertained/enthralled, go to more in the future. If you are not, at least you gave them the shot they have earned. Understand this: the evil NCAA® broke up the dynasty that Tarkanian produced. The rightwing Supreme Court Justices of course naturally sided with the big Association as opposed to the quintessential little guy. Final word™ «We’ll win with the Rebels of UNLV.» — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Tourists Good for tourists*.(*Especially if they are from San Diego. ‘Everyone loves San Diego State fans.’ — said no person ever.) Kids Good for kids*.(*Kids should watch games and aspire to play in sports where their brains are not compromised by endless concussions and CTE.) Dogs Not good for dogs*.(*Turns out they prefer being outside.) — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Rating: Four-stars, «Yay! I’m a fan.» In Memorium Jerry Esther Tarkanian (1930 — 2015 C.E.)

Because we have a Unilocal page for the LV51s and the Wranglers, I decided to add the Runnin’ Rebels. UNLV’s men’s basketball team has quite the history in our community, especially the role in which Jerry Tarkanian played. I attended the last game of 2015, which also happened to be my first time attending a Runnin’ Rebels game. The team played against Fresno State and lost 69 – 66. This was such a close game that had me riddled with anxiety! Nonetheless, I had a great time at the Runnin’ Rebels game and witnessed firsthand the overwhelming fervor of Rebel fans. My friend scored two tickets to the game, row JJ seats 9 and 10. I think these are the best seats I’ll ever have! I could see the facial expressions of the players — that’s how close I was. Students get one free ticket to games with the option to purchase a second discounted ticket. The student section is first come, first serve. It’s understandably packed, but definitely the most spirited section in the auditorium. I’ll probably sit there at the next game. :) There’s a huge turnout for games and the fans get more rowdy with alcohol. It’s a good time. Dave Rice was getting an earful from screaming fans, poor guy. Hey Reb’ and the girls cheer and dance teams do their best to keep the crowd spirited. Cheerleaders seemed to do a back flip each time the home team scored. Be prepared for a 10 – 15 wait in the jam packed parking lot upon game’s end. Tickets start at $ 16, which is an affordable way to spend a couple of hours in my opinion. Go Rebels! Unilocal100CHALLENGE2015: #272
