UMC Quick Care – Spring Valley

Was seen by Dr. Jaojoco today and the RN (a young guy whose name begins with «E»). Both were extremely attentive and took the time to answer my questions and thoroughly explain everything. Also the receptionist at the front was so friendly and sweet. I went after work about an hour or so before they closed and I was in and out quickly, but I wasn’t rushed. Thank you everyone!

Quick is an understatement for the name of this place. Expect to wait at least an hour. People sign in and put their time when signing in and actually put their check in time earlier than actual time. I waited at the counter for 5 minutes to acknowledge me before someone said can I help you to see how much longer is have to wait. The waiting room smelled like mold and the seats were a little too close.

It’s ridiculous to wait 1hr 23mins to see a doctor for 2mins and there was only 4 people ahead of me.

Came here last Friday (April 1). It wasn’t that busy so I didn’t wait long. I had a upper respiratory infection and I had seen a doctor 5 days prior to this visit. That doctor gave me cough suppressant which were in capsules. I told this quick doctor about it and how it didn’t make me feel better and I’m pretty sure I have bronchitis. I told him about my symptoms and how it got worse. He just explained to me that it will get worse before it gets better. He didn’t care about anything I told him. He ended up prescribing me cough syrup. Which why when the other doctor prescribed me almost the same thing but it’s in pills. Today is April 7 and I am still coughing. Instead of regular coughs, I’m coughing up blood. All this could have been avoid if they actually took the time to listen to their patients and fix the problem first hand. Don’t go here save your money Cause these people don’t care! Waste of time and money!

After waiting 45 minutes to be seen I was brought back to an exam room. They took my vital signs then told me it would be 2 – 3 hour before I was seen by a doctor and that I’d have to wait in the waiting room. After asking why the wait was so long I was informed that a doctor called in and they only had one. This is something that should be advised upon check in. URGENT care means that we want to be seen relatively quickly. If the wait exceeds and hour they should post it. I could have gone somewhere else to be seen with a shorter wait time. There were people in the waiting room with broken ankles and arms. They don’t need to be subject to that.
Horrible staffing and communication

Came here on a Saturday morning early around 8:30am as I had the plague. Really felt as though I would be taken by the zombie virus any minute. Walked in to the office feeling like death and looked around not really knowing what to do. I got the attention of a lady up front and she told me to sign a paper and pointed to the paper to sign. The paper was an information sheet with my name on it, what I was there for and my insurance. So, I grabbed the paper and sat down. Sat down for about 20 minutes and then saw other people that had been in after me being called up. I thought, wait a minute-​what is wrong here. So, I went back up to the front where I had originally gotten the paper that the lady told me to fill out that I was holding in my hand. Sure enough there was another sign up sheet on the counter which she had not advised me of. I know I should have figured that out sooner, but I was feeling horrible. I asked the lady why she did not tell me about this other sheet and she could not answer. She could have moved me up in line, but she did not. So, I sat for another 40 minutes waiting. I guess an hour wait time is not that bad for an urgent care. It felt like forever though because they have one small TV in the corner, no magazines. nothing except blank walls to look at. They really need to spiff up their office to make it a little more enjoyable. I could not even find tissue to blow my nose-​Good thing I had some in my car.
I did like that after I was put into a room after the wait that I was seen by a doctor in about 5 minutes. She pretty much diagnosed me with the zombie virus and gave me some meds. Went to fill my meds and she gave me the smallest bottle of cough syrup I have ever seen. AND. it wasnt even the good stuff. Pah leeeze.
Im sure a hefty bill will follow. I guess thats what I get for being a germ.

Normally urgent care places aren’t worth my time to review, but I gotta say… Marci was amazing there! She went out of her way to help me with my question, and the whole staff seemed very upbeat, especially for such a «usually sober» place.

Ugh so I call ahead because I broke my neck. I let them know I needed immediate attention and all the lady said was «have a seat there’s 15 people ahead of you» that are all clearly sick… HELLO THERES A BONE CURVING OUT OF MY NECK!
The doctor finally sees me after 2.5 hours going «oh that’s pretty serious» like fucking obviously my neck is broken!
4 hour update: still sitting in the room. Their xray tech is like 90 years old and all by herself and I can’t get my xrays until her computer is unfrozen. What the fuck is wrong with the doctors here?! They’re just sitting around chatting behind the counter. I’m literally crying. Why isn’t anyone helping me or the xray tech OBVIOUSLY A FROZEN COMPUTER CAN BE FIXED BY ANY COHERENT LITERATE ADULT then they tell me just now their xray machine doesn’t work so I have to go to the Sahara location. UMC apparently has to follow protocol for unfreezing a computer LMAO. What a joke.
I can’t believe how mistreated I was by this establishment. Dr. Lee is the worst doctor in the world. He was not compassionate or even alarmed how SERIOUS it is to have a neck injury xrayed

Horrendoussssss! That’s an understatement. Arrived at 3:15pm, it’s now 5:45 and still haven’t even been called back. You are treating sick people, that would rather do anything other than sit in these uncomfortable chairs for 3 hours waiting to be seen. Unreal. They have to only have 1 (or one half) Doctor working at a time. Such an absolutely horrible experience

Well here we are 4 days later and my doctor, I’llcall him Dr. B still has yet to approve my medication! I called yesterday and was told I may have to be seen BEFORE he approves it, my last check was in in June they said. Only 7 months. I scheduled an appt for this Monday, it will be fun. I will no longer use this facility as a primary or this doctor EVER again. I am also thinking about consulting a lawyer as I believe that to some extent this is medical malpractice. I will go in get «examined» get my updated prescriptions and leave. It’s apparent all that he wanted here was my copay and a bill to my insurance for around 250 – 300 for talking to me for maybe about 5 minutes when my appointment comes. In the mean time I still have no meds for my diabetes, but my doctor doesn’t care about that.

3^rd time here. today w/​my child. the wait was alot shorter than other quick cares i have been to. 20 minutes tops. the staff wasn’t over the top friendly but they were nice enough. the check up was very basic for my daughters fever. no too thorough but still, i come here for the short wait. expect to be in & out at this location.

Worst service my girlfriend and I ever had. 2 hours just to see a nurse and reaching another hour just to see the doctor. There’s no steps to their service and no customer service at all. Every person you speak to are short, rude and edgy. If you have anything wrong, you’re better off going to a real hospital. They weren’t busy and still had to wait 3 hours. They are a JOKE here.

I found myself here on Christmas Eve morning. I went in with no expectations as Quick Cares can be hit or miss. From signing in to walking out with my prescriptions was less than 45 minutes. Everyone from the check-​in staff to the nurse and the doctor were all very friendly. Even though it’s a Quick Care it felt more like a regular doctor’s appointment as far as the doctor and nurse taking time to listen to you and not making it feel rushed. I hope not to find myself here again soon but if I do I hope this scenario repeats itself.

An urgent care center open on Sunday?!? Sold!!! While out of town I went in for some help with a sinus and ear infection and came out with the home remedies and RXs I needed. Unfortunately, the antibiotic was too strong for me and I could not finish it. I know that’s a no-​no and yes I followed up with a local doctor when I got home ;p

Be very careful with your billing here. They completely screwed mine up and will give me no help whatsoever. I have culinary health insurance which has a program called Dr. Tommorow. This program is designed to give you a guaranteed Dr. Appointment within 24 hours with a $ 15 co-​pay as opposed to a hospital visit co-​pay or a walk in urgent care for $ 40. This location is a provider for this program. I made the appointment the front office staff acknowledged the appointment I had with the program and advised me of a $ 15 co-​pay. Easy I thought until I got multiple bills 30 days later saying I owed the a $ 25 dollar difference in co-​pay. After speaking with my insurance I found out they didn’t bill a primary care appointment visit as they were supposed to but rather billed an urgent care walk in visit which wasn’t the case. I’ve gone round and round with their billing and they refuse to do anything even though it’s their mistake for billing it wrong and still continue to send me the bill. 25 dollars may not seem like that big of a deal but it’s the principle of it and it makes a difference to someone like me that lives paycheck to paycheck.

I signed in and within 5 minutes was called to one of the desk counters to fill up my chart.
She was nice but was slow at her work. She kept talking about her nails, checking her email and telling me irrelevant stories that prolonged this whole process. She would stop between each task to do something else. After a brutal 25 minutes, she made me double check her work. My first and last name was spelt wrong, and she had my wrong birthdate. How’s that possible? My ID was photocopied and blown up to a full page along with my insurance card right beside her.
She seemed so distracted by her own thoughts. She continued to talk about her TV’s, Facebook and her itchy tongue. I can’t right now… She proceeded to print out my paperwork without correcting my information. Are they really getting paid for this?
My nurse was an older gentleman and he was extremely nice and asked me a few questions for my chart. What a sign of relief!
The doctor came in ~20 minutes later. He was nice and professional.
The nurse and doctor definitely made up for the behavior up front. But I’d find another clinic closer to home with better ratings.

Never going back here, I had experienced such horrible care, I advice everyone else to go elsewhere. I came in with abdominal pain that was persistent for over a week. The assistants and nurses were very friendly but as soon as the Dr comes in, she didn’t seem to care about any of my systems. She assumed it was just muscle pain without even examining me first. I asked if she tested my urine sample, she then asked if I wanted them to. Well, duhhhhh that’s why I gave it to you right? When the results came in, she prescribed me with 3 meds. None of them helped. I ended up going to the urgent care on Wynn and tropicana. The experience there was 100x better! I left with a diagnosis and proper medication, now I feel much better! Beware of this place, the Doctors at UMC quickcare don’t give a damn about your health

I’ve been coming to this Quick Care since I’ve moved to the southwest side. Sometimes, you can get in & out and of course, other days you can’t. I happened to come on a busy day this year, but everything was in order. Well, except the guy who signed in 15 minutes after me got called first, but heck, he’s older than me, so whatever. The staff is really nice & helpful. The older, short, Hispanic lady with the extra long hair & the African American lady with glasses & short, curly light brown hair, they were very attentive… Wish I knew their names. Dr. Cordova and nurse made me feel comfortable, so that was a plus. Hopefully, it stays that way each time I come. :) I was going to rate it a three because of how long I waited which was three hours, but I rated it a four because I left a message for the doctor & got a return call back the same day. :)

Typical quick care. The RN’s treat you like you’re a heard of cow. Get you in and get you out with no sympathy. The doctor was ok but he was pretty much clueless about what was wrong with me. What a waste of money. This quick care wasn’t as busy as most so that was a plus. I’m not a huge fan of quick care or urgent care but had to get checked. I guess if all else fails I will go back to this quick care but its not my favorite.

Shula was fantastic at the desk literally the only person that smiled and had a personality. Feels dirty alongside the clientele. Waited 3 ½ hours for a 3 minute consultation with a room of maybe 15 patients not one to usually complain but wow

This is the spot to go to when you don’t feel like going to the hospital ER and why not? It is a great option that is less hassle and less wait of course depending on what time you visit.
I like to get in and out so I go early when they open if possible. Of course you can not always plan and predict an emergency however if you hit it wrong you could be waiting a long ass time!
I am thankful that I live close to this location so it is very very convenient for me to go and be treated for my miscellaneous medical needs.
The Doctor’s are friendly enough and have always provided me with required treatment.
The last time I was here though I waited 3 hours to be seen. If you hit it at the wrong time may the devil help you! If you see the waiting area is full, turn around and leave, don’t do it, trust me!

Staff are great both front and back office. They take care of you right away unless if there are many patients lol. Good medical experience. I would refer my family and friends here.

I was here last week with a 104 fever and they saw me within 30 minutes of arriving. The nurse was super nice and the doctor was also. They gave me some Motrin for my fever and had me wait in one of their rooms until the Motrin took effect and my fever was down. I was very impressed by their level of professionalism and care.
I was also impressed to receive a phone call from them on Sunday to check up on me and see how I was doing. :)

The doc that I saw here was a real piece of work. 2 hour wait for nothing. Didn’t listen to any of my concerns. Just in and out with antibiotics. Left and went to the ER. Hate this place.

Around 9pm the incident happened on a weekday and I could not find a 24 hour quick care for the life of me. Waited till this location opened up in the morning, walked in, signed in, and paid my $ 80. Within 30 minutes I met with the Doc and he began stitching my ear back together. He did a great job, was friendly, informative, and had a great sense of humor. This goes a long way with me, because I get rather nervous when I am in a hospital or doctor’s office even when I am not receiving medical care.
The whole process took about an hour and as I was leaving they told me they would bill me and I was also given a prescription for some antibiotics which I was able to pick up at the pharmacy right next door (I do not believe they have a Unilocal business page as of yet).
The final bill (without insurance) ended up being about $ 170, which I thought was more than reasonable. In the event of another injury, I would definitely come back to this location rather than going to UMC’s emergency room.

Came in for my first time for an infection. The entire time I was there nursing staff and Dr. Cox made me feel like they weren’t listening to me and my concerns/​fears, I felt like they were passing judgement onto me, the nurse was catty w/​her remarks a few times in regards to some of my answers on the check-​in sheet, Dr Cox avoided eye-​contact the entire interaction, answered all of my questions vaguely, etc etc.
Well, after feeling like shit for another week I got a 2^nd opinion who gave me medication that actually worked. WELL.
I got my bill today for UMC and I see that I got charged for a pregnancy test that somehow cost 130 dollars, w/​o my consent (I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU I WASN’T PREGNANT!) and I was there for an infection! If he needed to find out if I was pregnant, he should have told me he was going to do a pregnancy test and he didn’t!!! I feel CHEATED and LIED TO and now I have to pay for a test that told him EXACTLY WHAT HE ALREADY KNEW?
This is EXACTLY why Las Vegas has such a shitty reputation for nursing and doctors. No one wants to do their job, no one has time to communicate or LISTEN to their pts, and no one CARES.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A UMC QUICK CARE.

I think i may be dying. I’ve finally decided to go to Urgent Care. Upon signing in I meet with someone immediately for my intake. After that I’m directed to the waiting room. There weren’t many people in there and I kept myself busy on my phone so I’m not sure exactly how long I waited. Once I went in the nurse or MA or whoever she was was very friendly and nice. She took my vitals and then I waited again for the doctor. He showed up and didn’t tell me much. I have a cold pretty much and he prescribed me ibuprofen. Not exactly what I was expecting to hear… $ 40 later just to tell me I have a cold and I get ibuprofen? Whatever. Bye!
I’m still alive tho and feeling better… But of course I am after the unnecessary visit to urgent care! But hey the staff was pleasant!

**UMC QUICK CARE NO LONGER TAKES AETNA INSURANCE AS OF 9−19−13**
I went into the quick care on Thursday morning, trying to head off a cold, since I couldn’t get in to see my primary care doctor.
There weren’t that many people waiting, from what I could tell, but I waited for an hour before going up to present my id, insurance card, and so on.
So after waiting an hour, the very nice woman taking my info informs me that my insurance isn’t accepted.
Needless to say, feeling that I’d wasted my time, I pitched a fit.
«How can you not take Aetna?! Its one of the largest providers in the country!!!»
She remained calm and professional: «They didn’t submit a contract for us this time, so we can’t accept it. We sent out notifications to our regualr patients, have you ever been here before?»
«No, I haven’t, but I would expect Aetna to send something, which they didn’t. I’m sorry, I know its not your faul.»
She was awesome. I wish I could remember her name… Shula? Something like that. She was wonderful, and she gave me a list of other quick care centers in the area who DO still take Aetna.
She gave me the option of staying, since I’d waited so long, and receiving a free screening, notifying me that if there were tests or prescriptions that I’d have to pay a higher fee than I was used to, but suggested that I might be able to submit a claim to my insurance.
I told her I’d stay, with the intention of leaving to the other center if it looked like I’d have to get a prescription.
I waited another two minutes, and was taken back to see the doctor.
I wish I would remember the doctor’s name. He was kind, thorough, and very nice. It was a quick visit, but you know… when you have the common cold, there’s not much that can really be done for it… at least he didn’t try to swindle me out of money. He put me down as a free screening, and recommended some over the counter remedies for me.
I won’t be going back to this location, as they don’t take my insurance, but I found the staff to be kind and professional, and very caring. I would recommend this location to people with other insurance.
