The Home Depot

This last month I did a major build out for my business. I went to Home Depot to get numerous supplies, including a substantial amount of lumber. When I went into the lumbar section, there were literally nine employees (I counted them) standing around joking laughing and shooting the breeze. None of them offered to help me and when I approached several I receive nonchalant responses and was basically blown off. Each deferred to another employee who would be able to help me «in a minute.»
I was put off by the entire experience and left the store. I purchased 98% of the stuff I needed at Lowe’s. Lowes isn’t perfect but they seem to have much better customer service. This Home Depot location seems to have numerous employees, however, they have not been trained well in customer service. I believe the entire store is poorly managed

just like many of the reviews already — HORRIBLE customer service. my experience was with a return from an online purchase. i bought a ceiling light, but it was delivered with a huge crack that actually broke off the light. i called the customer service number from the receipt and they apologized and said the best way was to return it to a store and get a credit back, since the light was discontinued. i informed the agent that i bought the light with a gift card that i no longer have and they said it will not be a problem as the store will be able to credit it back to a home depot gift card (store credit). as soon as i walked in to the store this morning, the person helping me, Nicole, said…“if that’s from online, i dont know why you bring it here…” i said thats what they told me to do… she said «ya, they always say that because they are lazy.» i shouldve known the rest of the experience with Nicole was going to be a mess.
i showed her the crack, she said she will process the return this one time and one time only to be ‘nice.’ (keep in mind, the 800# said to return to store AND the receipt from the order said to either ship back OR return to a store) i told her that i bought with a gift card that i no longer have and she said «no problem, we will issue u store credit.» first, she couldnt process the return because she said the bar (UPC code) was incorrect. she kept trying and said that this isnt working… throughout this time, she was repeatedly cursing, not at me, just in general… a bit unprofessional in my mind. while she kept trying and got nowhere, i noticed she didnt put all the numbers in, resulting in her not finding my order. i told her she was 1 number short and when it worked, she proceed to speak very loudly. «i did it, i know how to do it»… i guess that’s a great accomplishment if a customer tells you how to copy ALL the numbers!!!
while processing the return, she said it’s going back to the amex card, i told her «remember this was a gift card i no longer have!!!» she said «oh sh*t, i forgot» and then she said that there is no screen to give you store credit, it will just go back to your card… i again explained i dont physically have an amex card… she told her supervisor and he immediately said to give back my return and void it, we can’t do anything for him. i asked is there a manager i can talk to, bc it seems ridiculous that i am now with a broken light and it’s discontinued and i can’t do anything about it. he said no, and that he was the supervisor and there is nothing else to do.
i had no choice but to get my broken light back and decided to call the 800# again… i got rosella and immediately asked for a supervisor and explained my situation… they informed me that a store credit can AND SHOULD be done by the store, it can be overriden by a manager. they even called the store to talk to Nicole and inform her of the process. they told me that nicole was rude to them too! and that they are very sorry for the way i was treated with getting the run around and that they will have to send me a gift card for my return. they told me to just toss the light away since its completely damaged and discontinued.
it just proved my point of horrible customer service by the return dept. of home depot on fort apache and flamingo. lazy, rude, and unprofessional.

This place has the WORST customer service ever! I spent thousands of dollars on flooring (one full room full so damaged I had to return it) they would send emails to come pick up order (special order product) saying action required– «call to schedule pick up time» but the people at this location never had any clue what I was talking about, and they would say «those don’t come from us it’s not our fault» hello! They came from YOUR company! Is there ANY communication there? The answer is NO! And the girl who sold the flooring? Customer service is non existent here, they are rude and act like they are being put out when doing their job. This store is fine if you just need to buy something you can walk out with but Don’t do special order stuff, they can’t handle it.
Update– I will give credit when it’s due and Teresa the flooring Mgr did make this right in the end and provides great customer service.

Well, I left AGAIN without making a purchase. I finally found an associate and asked him to help me find the door mats, we walked around half the store when I finally said I’ll go to Wal Mart. I know exactly where they are located there and I’m sure they are cheaper.
I went in a week ago to buy their lavender general purpose cleaner and it wouldn’t scan at the self-​serve register. She called for help and after 10 mins and no response, I left w/​o it.
So, you’ll LOVE this Home Depot if you like a very non-​crowded store where you find everything yourself. If you need help, good luck. Why do I feel like I have to beg them to make a purchase? Does that seem right?

It seems like Home Depot has stepped up the customer service, which it really needed to do.
Now it is a pleasure going in, and usually less expensive than the other big box home supply store.

I had the worst customer service in the paint department from Shawntae. She didn’t acknowledge me when «I greeted her» or when I asked questions. When I asked for a paint color to be mixed I swear I got an eye roll. Rude. If she did speak to me it was a mumble under her breath with zero eye contact. I felt like I must have caught her on her last day of working for Home Depot. On the flip side I had a great check out from a very nice and helpful women named Sue.

I have to call my company for a purchase number so I’m required to go to the pro desk. This process takes about 5 minutes per person. The problem is every time I go to this location there is a line of 2 or 3 people and only one person helping. Although they are always nice this drives me bonkers. It doesn’t help that there is an employee standing in an empty line near the pro desk that has no customers but for whatever reason that I don’t care to know, they don’t come and help.

I went here a couple of days ago to buy some planting supplies & also some screws. You can never find help. I ended up spending like an hour in the store just to find what i needed. I asked two associates for help & their was response was «i don’t work on that section but i can get someone for you…» 20 – 30 mins later they walk by like nothing ever happened, and still no associate to help me.

Worst Home Depot in the valley! I placed an order for some items at a different Home Depot and decided to pick up at this location. I arrived to the service desk and there was someone there in front of me so I wanted. The woman behind the counter – Gloria – at the service desk was so rude the whole time. I could see my items waiting for me and had my receipt in hand. Apparently Gloria doesn’t know what she’s doing because the woman she was helping was there to pick up a refrigerator and Gloria couldn’t figure it out. She had to call someone or some department four separate times. I stood there waiting patiently for her to finish and she didn’t once acknowledge me. It took 25 minutes and not one time did she say sorry it’s taking so long or I will be with you soon. She was so rude!
Finally it is my turn and she rolls her eyes at me and my kid who says hi to her. She takes an additional 5 minutes to find my info even though I had everything waiting. Then she brings my items to where my cart is and places them on the ground… Not in my cart but on the ground next to my cart. Mind you I’m fairly pregnant at this time and had to pick the bulky heavy items up myself to place them in my cart. All in all I would say Gloria is a horrendous service desk associate and I will not be back! I will travel way out of my way to avoid this Home Depot location. (I have also had other negative experiences here but this was the worst!)

How can several people that work here not know anything about where they work? I had to ask 6 different people for what I was looking for, all of which sent me somewhere else and everywhere I went didn’t have what I needed. Finally found what I needed without the help of the employees and went to have a key made where no one was to be found. Upon checkout, the cashiers were having a full on conversation with eachother and were completely rude and acted like we weren’t even there. The customer service or lack of doesn’t even deserve one star but unfortunately I had to give one. Will not return to this location EVER.

If you need paint, don’t EVER go to this Home Depot! All I needed was a sample, I was the only person in line and I said I’ve circled the color I want and I’ll walk around and come back to pick it up when it’s ready. 15 min later I came back and it wasn’t ready. The lady said I wasn’t sure what color you wanted. I said it’s circled right here in front of you and I’ve already picked out the brand of sample paint as well next to it. She said other people are in line and put me at the end of 4 people waiting, but I need the sample so I waited. Another 25 min later I come back and it’s STILL not finished! 40 min waiting to get a paint sample and it’s still not ready! Unbelievable!

You know why all the normal people (non-​contractors and non-​carpenters) HATE Home Depot??? It’s because when they enter, it’s a maze of only slightly varying products, the Internet is spotty there so you can’t do your own research and when you ask someone for help, like Shante in paint, she’s so f’ing rude to you, it makes you shirk with humiliation.
Then the clear connections person with the little kiosk by the checkout asks you if you want to know more about their services and when you politely say no, she hollars, «Do you even know what we do?!» Well, no, and in fact, at this moment when I am in a hurry, I don’t much care either.
I hate Home Depot.

This home depot is service and community oriented. It is a delight. The staff are beyond helpful.
My husband needed to get 16 foot long Pressure Treated Boards and the staff helped him special order and let him know where the power outlet was so he could cut the boards in the parking lot so they could fit in the minivan.
I went here looking for a wooden dowel for my daughter’s bunk bed. The gentleman working in the millwork area took the sample I brought with me and helped me figure out that, no, Home Depot, did NOT carry that size wooden dowel. I was new to the area and the store assistant told me how to get to the nearest Lowes which might carry the right size dowel.
I mean REALLY! this place is a wonderful community resource. When I go here with my 6 year old daughter the staff in the garden center let her water the plants! (with supervision…)
I take my daughter here each 1^st Saturday of the month for the craft activities… they are wonderful as is the employee who checks the kids in.
I have lived in Virginia, Brooklyn, San Francisco, and San Mateo CA. I have never experienced such a service oriented home «do it yourself» operation.
Kudos to the staff and management.
Thank you for making South Summerlin/​Spring Valley a better place.

I ordered some stuff online that was on a slickdeals and had to pick it up in store.
Besides the arduous process to checking out online (which was deplorable) picking up in store was relatively painless.
The women at the customer service was courteous, kind, and quick in their verification and checkout process.
The Home Depot is big, clean, and in a good location. Parking lot is pretty much overkill.

It’s a nice place to find a lot of things but at the same time Home Depot competitors have stuff that they don’t and they should have in stock!
One more thing is about their pricing they advertise to be the cheapest out there but that’s not the reality from my experience today after shopping around with a few places.

TLDR: self-​checkout available; service when asked; not too busy with customers
Home Depot is one of three hardware stores that I frequent if I need something quick like PVC pipe or mulch. This location is conveniently located next to the freeway and a Fatburger in case shopping for lightbulbs makes you hungry.
I came to actually pick up a toilet seat and boy do they have options. They have plastic, wood, wood enameled, and some with nightlights. WTF. Nightlights?!? Just turn on the night? Who goes peeing in the dark? Whatever. Prices are not the best, but they’ll suffice.
If you’re looking for help, look harder. There’s not that many people on the flood and they don’t even say hello. But if you ask them for help, they will be extra knowledgeable and provide input. Clearly they don’t work on commission, but a simple hello shouldn’t be that hard to provide.

Home Depot, it’s not the best. However, it’s close and somewhat convenient?
I stop here occasionally for hardware, or gardening needs.
I stopped here to get a key made. They had moved the key counter… After walking around the store, I finally found an employee. He advised me of where they moved it.
When I find it, I see a guy working in the section… I asked him for help, and he told me it wasn’t his area and he’d get the guy I needed. Seems like it never fails at Home Depot… There’s a person working a section, when you need help… It’s not their area!
I’ve bought a lot of plants here. They seem to do very well. Probably better than any other nursery!
I guess I shop here for the convenience.

What can you say about a stop at Home Depot? I was out of kitchen flood light bulbs. I had another stop in this area so I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone.
There were few customers and parking was close to the entrance. The door opened directly on the lighting aisle so I didn’t have far to go.
The self checkout was a breeze and I was on my way in less than 5 minutes. That’s really good!

It’s Home Depot.
Lumber, plants, appliances, paint, and all that other house stuff you can think of.
I like better than Lowes… but not for any reason.
You’ve been to one Home Depot, you’ve been to them all.

One of my favorite locations, just because it is close to my house (~ 2 miles away)
Prior this to opening, the closest one for this side of town, was Rainbow and Charleston. Kind of far… but couldn’t complain much because it was still avail.
In comparison to the two, this one is pretty much the same except it doesn’t have a rental section. Rental’s are for tools, trucks, etc for those who dont want to buy the tool and just temporarily use for a project.
But anyway, this location has served its purpose countless times.
A few years ago, (im not that old, late teens/​early 20s), i had came up with a project. The project involved building a desk, from scratch. I had drawn out a design, with measurements on how big i want it, thickness, drawer designs, etc.
The employees of this location, at the time, was super helpful (one was even surprised someone of my age, or anyone in that matter, would have such a detailed designed drawn own on paper). Building a desk of course requires wood, and was decided upon a maple plywood (nice light color, peachy in a way, and widely stainable). Also at that time, they had charged for cutting wood in store after a few cuts, but they were so nice and wanting to help, they didn’t charge me. Even after cutting a few sheets of 4′ x 8′ plywood to size. At this period of time, i had visited the store a lot, so a lot of employees actually knew me after a while. Always nice to have employees remember you: P (on good occasions of course… LOL)
As time passed, employees change and what not. Service is still great. Nice, close location for those sudden project ideas (recently had one last weekend and built a pair of bookshelf speaker stands) or on emergency replacement part needs: P
*Side Note* if you need some manual labor help, there’s always a few mexican guys sitting around the entrances from flamingo and from ft apache… XD never used them but i’ve heard they charged $ 10/​hr per person.
