Steve Wynn’s ShowStoppers

I don’t know… The show offered very talented dancers and singers and they were all great but I got bored for an unknown reason. I was so looking forward to this show and love shows like this but something seemed off to me.
Of note: The seats are very very tight!

I recently saw «Show Stoppers» for the first time and was surprisingly impressed with the show. To be honest, I really wasn’t expecting to like this show as much as I did.
AMAZING entertainment with full orchestra, no pre-​recorded ANYTHING! The singers, the dancers, the choreography, it was perfect! Everyone was phenomenal, but I fell in lust with Jeremy Barthel and Joseph Rivera.
I’m not sure that I would vote this as the «Best Show In Vegas», but I will agree that Show Stoppers is anything less than perfect! This was literally 40 years worth of musicals wrapped into ONE show. But that’s just it, I would have preferred an innovative approach to the whole Broadway musical act. Although the performers NAILED IT, there wasn’t anything new to see.
Theater is a little small (it is a tight fit! Luckily we had aisle seating) and every seat should be a great seat! Not sure how many times a year they change set, but there were a few solo acts that catered best to the center left orchestra audience (that’s where I was sitting, btw). Any closer you would have been sky watching like you would sitting front row in a movie theater.
This show isn’t for everyone! Only true lovers of music/​entertainment will appreciate this.

Don’t get me wrong; the execution here was exceptional. The show, however, was just not very exciting from my standpoint. There are A LOT of great show tunes out there, tunes with a lot of emotion, humor, spirituality. Unfortunately, these were older tunes. In fact, the audience itself was older. Most in the theater were 60 and up. Maybe the show is limited due to song rites/​permissions etc. but the talent here deserves a better script. The best acts were «A Little Brains, A Little Talent» and «Nobody Does It Like Me“which were performed with the curtain down while the back stage was being set.

My wife and I seen showstoppers last night, it was amazing, I highly recommend when you come to Vegas to see the show.

I was not expecting to enjoy this show, but I ended up having a great time. The theater is rather small and the seats really close together, but the stage was really close even with us being back ¾ of the way back. The show itself was really good!
Lost two stars for the staff not paying attention to annoying patrons. After the show started people arrived late and everyone had to stand up to let them in (did I mention the seats are close together). Also people right behind us were talking the whole time during the whole show. It sounded like the guys were translating what was being said to the women. Turned around a few times and they knew I was annoyed, but that didn’t deter them at all. Basically turned what could have been a great evening into just a good one.
I recommend the staff do two things:
1. Don’t allow people in after the show starts. Many venues don’t allow this at all. If they are late that is their problem. At the very least threaten to do this to reduce the problem.
2. Pay attention to problem customers. Tell them to keep it down so others can enjoy the show. This is a casino so I know they have staff that can handle this very professionally. Since these are assigned seats they could at least keep records of them for future reference (again, casino).
I mentioned the problem to the front desk, but they were not interested in the problem.
I gave one star back because the show was too good to just get an A-​OK. If you don’t have the bad luck of having rude, annoying, arrogant people seated near you you will have a great time!

Three of us went and we ALL of us thought it was the BEST show we’ve seen. We are all locals and I’ve been to almost all of the cirque shows and a few others, and seriously none of them compare. We just saw it, and are still in awe of how great it was!

This is undoubtedly the Best show in Las Vegas, period — end of sentence!
We live here part of the year, and have seen nearly every show in every hotel for over 20 years now, and can indubitably state that this is by far the best and most entertaining show that we have ever seen.
I love Broadway musicals, having grown up seeing all the classics since I was a little kid; and I must say, the performers /​vocalists performed splendidly. They managed to capture all of the moments that made me fall in love with musicals to begin with.
Speaking of moments, when I heard Randall Keith perform his solo of «Once In A Lifetime,» it simple rekindled so many sweet memories that I adored about all the Showstoppers musicals in this revue (and yes, I have seen them all).
Now, you may read this and simply dismiss this review as a biased opinion since most of these musicals are from my parent’s generation that I learned to grow up with.
This show couldn’t possibly be that relevant to the millennials, now could it?
Allow me to refute any preposterous assumptions!
I brought with me my 3 millennial daughters, ages 22 – 26 to watch Showstoppers, as well.
As a quick background, they too have seen many Las Vegas shows that cater to different age groups, e.g., Mama Mia all the way to Jabbawockeez, and everything in between.
Obviously they prefer that more modern venues that are more effects oriented and have more upbeat music.
However, as we were leaving the theatre, they all could not help but exclaim that this show was just so entertaining and exhilarating that they didn’t notice that there was no intermission, whatsoever!
Furthermore, they continued to state that in some shows, you can lose track of what’s going on, and just want to take a break before you fall asleep.
Not in this show. It was as captivating from beginning to end!
This is truly what I believe pure entertainment is all about.
It is a dynamic that exists between the live performer and the audience that has the kinetic energy to carry you throughout without all the effects that tend to just muddy the atmosphere.
There are so many magical and memorable moments about this show that I so want to share with each and every one of you, but you really just need to experience it for yourself.
We loved this show so much that we bought tickets for our friends to enjoy it prior to the New Year.
Additionally, my wife and I will be returning shortly to partake of its splendor once again!

It’s a great show… IF you are a senior citizen or like to go the memory lane of 1970’s and 1980’s. Tribute to a lot of Broadway shows. Don’t get me wrong great performers, singers and dancers but it just seemed that the production was created 40 years ago and nothing has changed since. It’s your typical Vegas style show that seems that has been around for years. I was not impressed not like with all the other spectacular shows of Las Vegas. Go see «Le Reve» or «O» or «LOVE» sooo much better. The audience seemed to like it but 99% of the crowd was in their 60+ So if you are that age and into that kind of shows then it’s worth to see.

I’ve seen every single show in Vegas. From Cirque to Hypnotists everything is entertaining but ShowStoppers tops it ALL!!!
From the orchestra, to the singers, to the dancers, everyone was perfect! The songs and choreography is superb! Bravo to Steve Wynn for putting on the BEST show in Vegas… if not the World!!!
The cast is super talented and the show reminds you of all the great Broadway shows and all the pieces that made them memorable!
Don’t hesitate and see this show. It’s absolutely worth every penny! When the show is done, you can’t help but get on your feet. This is a standing ovation type of show. Not because you feel you have to, but because of a natural response from your body after receiving the joy of entertainment that only ShowStoppers can provide.
Very happy that we came and looking forward to bringing my mom on my next trip to see it.

OMG! This is a classic broadway musical. At a very young age I’ve always enjoyed musicals, especially those really old movie musicals. I used to watch the reruns over and over again. I really enjoyed the numbers that involved all of the cast members, especially when they are wearing their glittery costumes. The vocals were strong in this performance and their dance routines were also on point. Overall, great show!

I didn’t know what to expect. The USO hooked us up with tickets, and I said to my husband, «Sure, why not.» I CANNOT believe how much we liked it! We were even raving about it to each other the next day.
I’ll be recommending this show to everyone, local or visiting.
Job well done! I’ve read lots of reviews that say that most of the audience was gray-​haired. Perhaps it’s because we went on a Saturday, but it was not the case for us. We were on the younger side of the audience (mid-​late 20’s), but the audience was a variety of all ages. I appreciated that kids under 13 were not allowed, as I never was disturbed with unwanted noise during the show.
Everyone go. It is worth it.

I was not sure what to expect from this show but I loved it. It was a wonderful performance of a variety of Broadway songs. The singers were excellent especially the four main singers. The dancers were really good too. There were around 30 dancers. And they had a full orchestra which was very good. The singers and dancers changed costumes frequently which made it exciting.
If you like Broadway music, this is definitely a show for you. Its a great show that is different from the traditional Las Vegas show.

Steve Wynn’s ShowStoppers is a performance of Broadway hits spanning from pre-​WWII to the current era. I think that ShowStoppers appeals to a certain type of audience. As I looked around the theater, most members of the audience were grey-​haired elderly folks, and that’s okay! Alls I’m saying is that a Broadway show doesn’t cater to the same type of broad audience as say, a Cirque show.
There’s about 6 core singers supported by at least two dozen dancers and a full orchestra. I will say that the performers are talented, but I have to admit I was bored for most of the show. The acts that had my full attention were «Willkomen» from Cabaret, «Cell Block Tango» from Chicago, and «Anything You Can Do» from Annie Get Your Gun. I recognized some classic Broadway songs, but again, the majority of songs were unfamiliar and really dated. At the end of the show, the audience gave the performers of ShowStoppers a standing ovation.
ShowStoppers is a Vegas show that is all about the talent of the performers. The intimate size of the theater is well suited to this type of show. The performers switch out costumes for each act and there are minimal stage changes. Compared to most shows, ShowStoppers is pretty modest and I guess you could say old school.
Worth a Return Visit?
I had the opportunity to see ShowStoppers for free. I doubt I would have bought tickets to this show because I have zero interest in Broadway. ShowStoppers is a good show for what it is, but one viewing is enough for me.

I’m not much of a show tunes person, so take that into consideration.
My wife loved this show. She danced for a number of years when she was younger and totally got into the show. I thought it was Good. The singers/​dancers and band did a great job and were very talented. The Steve Wynn voiceovers were a little odd. Not sure why that couldn’t have been done live by one of the performers.
Again, just not my style of show. If it had an explosion or two and Jimmy Page playing a set, I would have been more into it.

As with others, I too had the opportunity to preview ShowStoppers on December 13… for FREE!
Having played in a full orchestras myself, it was a treat to be in the audience for a change. I certainly appreciate the hours of rehearsal and auditions. For a musician, it can be both exhausting & exhilarating. They were absolutely brilliant! Sadly, its not something you see much of any more: the orchestra ON STAGE instead of in the Pit. The singers & dancers were just as brilliant. So much happening at once, how they do it I’ll never know. I found the costumes to be both elaborate & simple, appropriate for each set & the show moved quickly. I could have done without Wynn narrating. It was distracting, & his voice annoying.
Sadly I did not recognize any of the songs they performed or the musicals they were in.
Unfortunately, its not my cup of tea. I enjoyed it because the tickets were free. I would never voluntarily spend my money to see it.
If you are a gay male OR love show tunes/​musicals, you will love this!

Let me start out by stating that I am NOT a fan of musicals. As a child I had a well meaning Aunt that subjected me to unspeakable cruelties. By this, I mean she was always making us watch these old movie musicals. To this day, I still cannot bear the thought of having to watch South Pacific, West Side Story or The Sound of Music EVER again!
But anyways.
A friend hooked me up with some free tickets to the show, so I figured I may as well check it out. After all, if it really stunk I would just walk on out. No big risk there, right?
I ended up enjoying this so much more than I ever would have thought!
The orchestra was incredible! The sound level was perfect, as well! Loud enough to be able to enjoy the performances comfortably, but not overbearing. I also greatly enjoyed the lighting and especially some of the costumes! Those costumes during the second «Chicago» number were fantastic!
Some of my favorite moments from the show included…
— the opening «Cabaret» was fantastic! Very fun number!
— the number with the baseball players was cheesy fun and really was a throwback to a different time and attitude lol
— «A Chorus Line» was great, as well! This was one of the few numbers I was already familiar with going in.
— The «Chicago» number with the ladies in the prison cells was both funny and sexy.
— This Randal Keith guy can flat out sing his butt off! That guy was pretty impressive!
Actually, this entire show was impressive! The signing, the choreography, the production values… all just off the charts fantastic!
All that being said, I don’t think this is going to be a show that has widespread appeal, IMHO. I honestly wonder how long the show will last at the current price point. ($ 110-​$ 165)
Plus, as other reviews have stated, they did start late on this showing as well. That can be a tad bit annoying when you’ve been sitting in your seat for a half hour in anticipation.
Despite this, I did very much enjoy the show and the «old school» vibe about it. This is the type of show I would imagine they had on the strip back in the 60’s and 70’s…and that makes me smile.
On a side note: Is it just me or does anyone else see Brian and Stewie doing these numbers as well? lol

Wow, what a show! I received free tickets last minute through work so it was a total steal. If you’re a fan of Broadway in general, ShowStoppers will knock your socks off. The orchestra is incredible. The performers have such amazing talent. The show’s wardrobe is sensational. All those beautiful dresses and sequins will dazzle you through the entire performance.
A few things to note, though. The show is a mere 1 hour and 5-​ish minutes long. We had fantastic seats through my job, but they would have otherwise cost us about $ 150 each. It’s VERY pricey, especially for how short it really is. You can tell by the set and the costumes that no expense was spared by Wynn! There were some very iconic, well known musicals showcased, including Chicago and Cabaret. One thing I think the show was lacking, though, was a few numbers from some newer Broadway shows. I would have loved to hear «Seasons of Love» from Rent, some numbers from Wicked, or even some from some of the more popular comedic musicals like Avenue Q. It feels like they’re catering to an older crowd with 99% of these selections.
I love Broadway musicals in general so I was thoroughly entertained the entire time. I’m so glad to have seen the show but the price tag would have been too high if I had to buy tickets.

I had a chance to see a preview of this show. I had low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I am a fan of musicals and this show incorporates and highlights songs from popular musicals over the years. The performers are all incredibly talented and I enjoyed most of the selections.
I would have preferred a little less narration, but overall it was a good show. A little on the short as I was surprised by how quickly the show ended. I do think it will only appeal to a very specific audience.

I was given the opportunity to preview ShowStoppers before opening to the public. I wasn’t sure what to expect. To sum it all up, they sing hits from Broadway shows such as Chicago and Cabaret.
I’m not a theatre buff or even knew all of the songs they were singing. Surprisingly I enjoyed the show. They have many talented performers singing and dancing. What I liked most was the full orchestra behind the dancers on stage. They did an amazing job and was very impressed.
What bothered me was Steve Wynn’s voice narrating throughout the performance. I didn’t think it was necessary to give the audience a back story of what each section was about.
Luckily I was given the tickets. They are priced a bit hefty for what you get. I guess when you’re at the Wynn, everything is priced hefty.

Tonight’s show was the first public preview show. The première will be this weekend. The show consists of 19 songs – showstoppers from Broadway musicals – that were evidently chosen by Steve Wynn. There are 19 songs in all as of this evening.
The show opens with a medley of songs from Hello Dolly and Mame, then Cabaret and finally Chicago. In between there are some shows that are represented by one song including one called «Ol’ Las Vegas» a takeoff on the song «No Name City» from Paint Your Wagon.
The cast consists of 66 people counting a full orchestra and a large complement of singers and dancers with several lead singers. The cast is extraordinarily talented. They sing beautifully and the dancing is done very well.
My favorite numbers for the evening were «Willkomen» from Cabaret, «Cell Block Tango» from Chicago, «Everything’s Coming Up Roses» from Gypsy, and the «Chorus Line/​One» opening number for A Chorus Line. The solo numbers were absolute standouts including «All That Jazz» from Chicago.
A few thoughts on the show. Note, I am a theatre junkie. I love all types of theatre, especially Broadway. While I enjoyed this show a whole lot, it’s too short at just about 1 hour and 5 minutes. I couldn’t believe they were doing curtain calls so quickly. The show started about 5 minutes late – what do they think this is, the Smith Center? Perhaps the late start was opening night. Early on, one of the characters introduces a number with some short comments. After that, a recorded Steve Wynn introduced some sections and individual numbers. Do we really need a recorded Steve Wynn telling us what «Razzle Dazzle» from Chicago is about? All I could think was, «Pot, meet kettle.
On the way out, we were handed a survey to help them improve the show. The last question is «Would you recommend this show to family, friends, and Las Vegas visitors?» The possible answers given are: 1) Yes — it’s a great show for all; 2) Maybe — depends on whether they like Broadway or not; and 3) No. And there’s the rub. The show will be liked mostly by people who know and like Broadway. The show will appeal to the older demographic, certainly not the Tryst nightclub goer.
I hope the show succeeds but I wonder if it can. Very talented singers and dancers weren’t enough to keep Spamalot and Avenue Q in this theatre and there are no bells and whistles like Phantom. Time will tell.
As a tip, the website did not allow choosing a seat rather you are assigned one. I’d recommend sitting at least four to five rows from the stage. If you want to be assured of where you’re sitting, I’d call the box office and have the seat map on your computer.
