Smarty Paws specializes in many types of dog training. We train everything from puppies to adults, from beginners to advanced. We have a class for all needs. We also train agility for competition, or just for fun.

In addition to training, we also offer Doggie Day Care so your dogs can have a fun, exercise filled day while you are at work. Both you and your pet will come home tired and happy.

History

Established in 2014.

Smarty Paws South is our newest location, allowing us to expand to southern Las Vegas to better serve our customers. However, Smarty Paws Canine Coaching has been operating on the Las Vegas area for over ten years.

My experience with dogs goes back 50 years. I was always outside teaching my dogs, and cats tricks as a child. When I started my own family I wished my children to learn to love and respect animals as much as I did. My love for Shelties and herding dogs grew to a point where I started showing them on the East Coast and breeding them on our horse farm in Maryland. I continued to train them in obedience and watched them naturally herd the horses.

I have a B.S. degree in education and bring a love for both children and dogs to Smarty Paws. I now own three Border Collies, one of which is a trained service and therapy dog. Two of my Border Collies have earned several agility titles. My oldest dog, Hemi, was voted Las Vegas’ most talented dog a few years ago. I am active in the national volunteer team for Canine Assistants that train service dogs for the disabled and am a member of Las Vegas K-​9 Therapist. I am also a member of APDT and Therapy Dog Inc.

Signed up for service dog training, 6 weeks, $ 200 to certify our dog as a medical alert dog.
The training is scattered training at best. The trainer is very nice but has no focus or control over the class or even her own service animal half the time. Questions were left unanswered, there was no plan for what would be learned each class, and there wasn’t a prerequisite for dogs to be obedience trained to take this class. I barely learned anything after 4 weeks and left due to the last class attended being a pitch about a new curriculum introduced that would cost a lot more money. Do not go here unless you want to waste your money, be up sold, and have your dog confused in an erratic, uncontrolled environment.
There are other trainers in Vegas who know what they are doing and will overextend themselves to help you and your dog, ask me if you want to know who they are.
Note– prior to this class my dog and I have attended and passed basic and advanced obedience training, passed the CGC, and have already been in pet friendly hotels and restaurants wo any issue whatsoever. So it’s def not us, it’s them.

We love SmartyPaws!!! Our corgi puppy has been taking classes with them for over two months now. He graduated from KinderPuppy and is continuing with Puppy Agility. We love the instructors and other clients — our puppy does too!

This is a really nice facility that does dog training and service dog training as well. We have been looking into getting our dog certified as a service dog to go into VA hospitals and help out veterans and bring a smile to their day. Our dog is very well tempered just needs some work when she’s around food.

I’ve been working with Janet in her Service Dog Training class and she has been incredible. She really cares about dogs (and their owners). My dog improves every week! The classes are small and cater to the needs of the animal.

After reading some of the other Unilocalers reviews I found this location very easily and they also have very friendly and knowledgeable staff here. The trainers are great with all of the pets I see here. Highly recommend them to help guide you in training your Dog.

Both Smarty Paws are awesome. I have had two dogs go thru training. My Bloodhound went thru Kinderpuppy and her instructor was awesome. She went on to Basic obedience and then to beyond Basic obedience. Again her instructors were awesome. We then signed her up for Nose work classes. Nose work Bloodhound what can I say. She did awesome in that class and again her instructor was awesome. I currently have my Corgi in agility. We have been doin agility for two years now and have entered two trials in which Lucy and I did great. We have two Titles and numerous ribbons. My wife and I have another Corgi Wall-​e who is going to start agility soon. Smarty Paws both locations are great and all the instructors are awesome. I highly recommend Smarty Paws for all your dogs needs. From puppy training, service dog training, obedience to agility they are the best. I have been a client of Smarty Paws for about 3 years. I was so pleased to see that they opened up a south location since I live in Henderson. I have a 2 year old Standard Poodle that has been a basket case since I got her as a rescue at 4 months. We attended different types of classes, including agility, puppy and obedience with out much success. The poor dog would spend all of her time worrying where the other dogs were. I started her at boot camp two months ago. She usually goes twice a week and what a difference it has made in her. She no longer hides behind chairs and is learning obedience. I also have a Chihuahua rescue that is learning agility at boot camp and is quite a success story. When i pick them up I am given a «report card» and most often the trainers will show me videos they took of the dogs during their training.
Smarty Paws staff are always helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and really like the dogs. They do not believe in shock collars or other aversive training techniques.
This is money well spent as far as I am concerned!

I entered the facility with my 6 mo old pup and she desperately wanted to leave. There was no one there to greet us. I waited several minutes in the lobby, no one. I decided to go to the back and still couldn’t find a staff person. I was horrified to see that a dog was on the treadmill unsupervised! All of the other dogs were in kennels. I went next door to the office and there was the trainer hanging out. I expressed my concern about the unsupervised dog on the treadmill and the trainer and the office person dismissed my concern. It is a cold, unwelcoming place similar to the pound. No way would I leave my precious girl there. I envisioned a place where dogs could play and socialize and get some training as well. Boy was I wrong.

Very disappointed. I had it all worked out to have a youngster in puppy kindergarten, then 30 min later, an adult in Basic obed. Well, when the puppy class didn’t fill up, they cancelled it. It took me 45 min combing through their website trying to find the new South address, which by then, missed the first class. You can forget anyone answering their phone also. I had an hour & half from the time I left home with my dog, to the start of class. When I realized I’d left without the address, I figured I had plenty of time to find it… not true! What business makes their address so difficult to find? It was in tiny print on their homepage. I left at least 5 phone messages requesting the address, it now the next day, I still have heard nothing from them. Now… will be waiting for my refund. I’m sure it’s a good facility, my fault that I didn’t take the time prior to leaving (like hours prior) to search & search for their address.

We had heard about the Smart Paws on Rancho a long time ago and were excited to find out they were opening one on our side of town. It’s inside the Diablo Industrial Center.
Today was our first time, they’ve only been open less than 2 weeks so they don’t have all of their equipment yet but they are ready to tire out your pup. The facility is nice and big with separate rooms for training, play, resting, etc. Danielle was the trainer on today and she was really informative about my pups behavior throughout the day. I believe the other girls name working was Izzy, she was super sweet. You can tell they both love dogs. I felt confident leaving my precious dog with them.
We chose to do the bootcamp style daycare. He got time on the treadmill to get some energy released, did clicker training with leash walking and got some ball playing in as well. He was happy and tired when I picked him up, they even showed me some of his new tricks before we left. Prices are discounted for August, but I believe it’ll be $ 25 for a full day of daycare and $ 45 for full day of boot camp. Their hours right now are 7am to 6pm Monday thru Friday. They hope to add weekends and overnight boarding in the future. I think I’m as excited about this new place as my dog is!
