Shag Me Salon

I have a confession: I cheated on my long-​term stylists. I usually get my hair colored at one place on the Strip and then cut at another place off-​Strip. And between the two, I usually pay $ 250 – 300 (not including gas and travel time). So I looked on Unilocal and found this salon just down the street from me. I picked Sam as my stylist based on the pictures I saw from Unilocalers and her Instagram.
It was definitely a very different experience than what I’ve experienced at every other salon (here in Vegas and in other cities). It’s not an upscale kind of place. It was, honestly, probably the messiest salon I’ve ever set foot in. It’s got a cool-​ish vibe with the blue walls and artwork. But it was still unkempt.
The stylists also behaved very differently. They sorta just lounged around and carried on conversations with each other across the salon. None were dressed nicely and none really had done their own hair. Just a whole different level of professionalism and presentation.
I was, frankly, surprised by how few questions Sam asked me. She was thorough, though, and took her time. I never felt rushed. And I did leave the salon feeling good about my hair. And I liked the blowout/​style. Tip: Be sure to check-​in on Unilocal for 10% off.
But that said, the base color wasn’t as bright as I’m used to and feels more brown. But the purple and pink do look great. And the color is even, no missed spots, no color mess on my skin, etc. The cut is decent. And I’ve already gotten numerous compliments. Sam definitely did a good job.
It’s a significant savings and is just down the street from me. So big bonus points for that. And it not necessarily a bad thing in terms of the look of the salon and professionalism of the staff. It’s just… different — not my usual experience.
I’m up for giving it another try and will go back to Sam again. She was pleasant and friendly and did a good job. And hey, when developing a new relationship with a stylist, it takes more than once to get comfortable, learn how your personal hair works, and get everything perfect. If you’re looking for some color to your hair color (blue, green, pink, purple, etc.) this is definitely the place to go. It beat out my upscale Strip salon experiences in that way.

After researching different salons, I went with Shag Me based on reviews and price. I have been in the market for a new stylist and it’s always nerve-​wracking to pick one out of the air.
Jaclyn was my stylist at Shag Me Salon and she was fantastic! We laughed the entire time and I love the cut she gave me. It’s hard for a stylist to magically know what you want or to decipher what the heck I was trying to convey via a million different pinterest photos but she nailed it.
My hair looks amazing straight and curly and that (for some reason) is hard for stylists to do. Next visit I’m going to have Jaclyn help me out with color so I’ll keep you posted on how that turns out.

I moved to Las Vegas within the past year and one of the hardest parts of relocating is finding a hairdresser. Well, my search for the amazing, talented and skilled professional finally paid off. After going to 3 other salons and not «feeling it» with the stylist. I read the review for «Shag Me» and I had to try one more place.
From the moment I walked in, till the time I walked out Erika was thee most amazing stylist I’ve found in this valley (yea, it’s a big valley). The time she took with my consultation was by far the most complete consult I’ve ever had. When we finished with the consult, I couldn’t wait for her to show her talents. And boy, does she have talent.
I walked out of there feeling special, confident in the look, color and feel of my hair. Erika, you rock girl, and I can’t wait to come back and see where our new friendship, takes my hair!

This place totally rocks! I had my hair done my Miss. Kellee. She did an amazing job! And these ladies are a riot!!+ I highly recommend them! Thank you Kellee I love my hair!!!

Shag Me Salon is my favorite salon in Vegas.
I’ve been searching for years to find a place with hair stylists who have a good sense of what’s trendy. This is the place!
Lanita has been my go to hair stylist for several visits. She is very skilled and creative (I can never decide what I want to do with my hair). She also is able to provide waxing services (I’m a guy). Lanita is a total pro — always fast and little pain as possible. She’s a great conversationalist so it’s never awkward.
I highly recommend Shag Me Salon and Lanita if you’re a trendy person or in need of waxing services.

Monica is the best! Absolutely the best hair cut ever. She takes her time, and her work is always fantastic. I never leave looking like a soccer mom (which I am). Thanks Monica!

So happy to be back at Shag Me. When they moved locations the stylist I was with did not go with the salon and he went off on his own. After a year of disappointing appointments I decided it wasn’t working out with that stylist. I made an appointment with Sam. I now FINALLY have the gray hair I have wanted for a year in one day. Highly recommend going here!!!

I love this place, for quite a few reasons!
1. It’s right next door to me so it’s super convenient for me!
2. All the ladies are very nice!
3. Jaclyn does my hair and I love the work she does! After my many hair styles with other stylists and mostly bad experiences– BUT after having Jaclyn do my hair it was obvious she cares about your satisfaction. She takes the time to go over colors that you like before just slapping something on your hair and pays attention to how you like to style your hair so the cut is right to fit your needs!
4. I recently had my eyebrows waxed by Erika and she was awesome, very detailed on making sure they look right and both of your eyebrows match. Lol sounds funny but so important, I’ve had chunks out before, uneven brows and even burned by wax. I def don’t feel the need to worry about any of that when going to her!
5. The salon is laid back and a nice environment which I feel is important!
I would recommend them to anyone I know!

Erika did such an amazing job with my hairstyle! She also did my wedding hair last year, and was awesome with doing victory rolls, too! Erika always knows what she’s doing, and she was always so patient and understanding with me – I really appreciated how she helped me get through my wedding blues, too (still embarrassed about it a year later, lol but she plays it off so cool and professional. That’s always a good attitude to have in business).
Sadly I moved right after I got married, so I wasn’t able to come back to Shag Me as often. Oh, but I was in town again recently, and I thought this was a good time to go to them again and get my hair done. I booked an appointment with Erika, asked for the vintage Hollywood waves, and she styled it exactly the way I wanted! The time she took to get my hair done was pretty average: 1.5 hours with hair length a few inches past the shoulders. Time may vary according to your hair length.
Shag Me salon specializes in vintage hairdos, and Erika is the one to go if you want those pin-​curls, victory rolls, Marcel waves, or gorgeous Hollywood waves.
The only downside I can think of is how they raised their prices since the last time I was there. I pointed this out to them since it said on their website that having my hair styled down instead of an updo would only cost $ 40 or so. Erika said that she can give me that price since their listings are outdated, which I really appreciated. I was also able to apply the 10% off I got from checking into Unilocal on top of that, so that helped a lot as well. Regardless, their prices are still reasonable and definitely more affordable that what I’m currently paying for in LA!

I decided it was time to donate my hair and try something different. Erika was more than accommodating and understanding of what I wanted! She was very friendly, easy going, passionate and demonstrated amazing customer service!

Recently moved to Vegas and desperately needed a good hair stylist. One of the dealers at a local casino recommended Shag Me Salon. Called and was able to get in with Kellee a few days later. Kellee did an awesome job on my hair and styled it perfectly. She put in the right amount of high lights and low lights in. Do yourself a favor and make this your hair salon. You won’t regret it!

I went to Shag Me for the first time two weeks ago for a hair cut. I had Erika for a stylist. She did a fantastic job. I love that they are open on Sundays. Salon was quiet, clean and comfortable. She gave me a great hair cut. We talked about possibly dying my hair. She answered all my questions and wasn’t pushy at all.
I am going back for sure! Thank you!

Seriously, I come here for Lanita. Before her, I just saw whatever stylist was available, but now I request her every time. She does THE CUTEST short haircuts — just let her work her magic, she’s fantastic.

What an amazing change. This salon is top notch from the reception area to the hair styling itself. From being greeted with a kind hello I was escorted to waiting room. It was beautiful. I had a TV and retro couches. For having at least 11 stylists this place was so organized. My son wanted his hair styled. He had no idea what he wanted. Deisha, the hair stylist, was amazing with him. She LISTENED and basically was an artist with his hair. He was so happy.
Other women were raving about the job all of the stylists were doing with there hair. I’m going to tell everyone about this little secret gem. Don’t let supercuts screw up your head. The prices are just a few dollars more and the quality and attention you get is worth it. Thumbs up.

This spot is in a wonderful location and the atmosphere is very welcoming! Not to mention the awesome artwork!
My stylist, Lanita is the absolute BEST. I will recommend her to anyone and everyone that is in need to freshen their look. She is very knowledgable about hair (which I know, anyone in that business should be) but, any question I posed, she answered very thoroughly. I’m excited to further my look and I can say she diminished any fear I had of dying my hair. Time to be more adventurous! ;)

I always love coming to the Shag me Salon! They always greet me with a warm smile and make me feel like I’m a part of their family! Dacia the owner is completely awesome and is always working around my busy schedule! I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I love their new location! It’s closer to my house and much bigger. The walls are painted Tiffany blue and they sell local artwork, very cool! This salon is relaxed and all the stylists are super friendly. They play cool movies in the waiting area and its more of an artsy/​alternative salon. Whenever I come in here it feels like a bunch of friends doing each other’s hair. They specialize in color!
Monica has been my stylist for almost a year now and she has helped me get my hair back to healthy.

I wanted a unique place to get my hair cut/​color at and had found this place through FB ads! So glad I went! I didn’t know exactly what I wanted for a haircut but Monica sure did deliver! She also gave me great hair maintenance advice! Thanks girl! Can’t wait to get my hair colored next!

Lanita cut my hair and was so sweet. She was talkative and genuine with me.
Below are my pros and cons of a first-​time customer:
Pros: 1) I was able to get an appointment fairly easy 2) Lanita knew what I was talking about when I described what kind of cut I wanted. 3) A lot of the art on the walls are done by local artists, which can be purchased. 4) My stylist said she personally does cuts for free if you’re donating hair. [I did not do this, so I can’t personally attest.]
Cons: 1) No seating area in the front, so if you are waiting, you are awkwardly standing near the reception desk, unless you are invited to the back where there are TVs and couches. I would not have known about them there and I wasn’t invited back while I waited. 2) I get it, people smoke, but there was a slight scent of cigarette smoke when I was in there. 3) [Semi-​con] It’s hard to nail down the vibe of the place. They support local artists which I appreciate, but the art is definitely not for everyone. 4) My hairdresser, although very sweet, was not shy to talk about how she just woke up and how «greasy her hair was,» which she fixed before doing my hair.
My stylist said a «long bob» hairstyle would work well on me, and I suggested we try it that day, however, she said, «Not today, let’s just go with this, then you can grow it out again, and donate it when we do it in a few months.» Sweet gesture, but I was looking to get rid of my long locks that day! Lanita was so sweet, I didn’t want to be difficult, so I went somewhere else after. [I know, I know, I should have said something!]
It seems that the employees and customers are happy and they certainly are friendly, but I don’t think I will personally be returning, as I had a better experience somewhere else.

First and foremost, let me say I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere of this salon. I also love that they are showing the grinch on their TV for the holidays.
I get my hair done by Lanita, and she is amazing! She has literally changed my hair to every color imaginable and it is still healthy and strong. My hair always looks awesome, and I would recommend her to everyone

Have been going to have my hair styled by Deanna for many years now and keeps my hair looking great!
I received Deanna’s name by referral, I had asked someone who had cut their hair and you can tell right away a good stylist from a bad one, so like anything good you find you hold onto it and follow it where ever it goes!
