Saks Off 5th

I reviewed the old Off Fifth (OF) and I’m both pleased and disappointed with this updated version.
DISAPPOINTMENTS
1. This is no longer a hidden gem. Located in Town Square EVERYONE heads there now and the selection reflects that.
2. The selection is more pedestrian. This is my biggest gripe. There are lots of sizes and colors for various styles (like a department store), but there seem to be less unique pieces (like a department store). They are still there, but one has to spend the time to look through the racks to find them. The shoes, for example, are dull and typical. That won’t be a problem for most people, but because I thoroughly enjoyed the variety in the selection at the old OF, it’s certainly a disappointment. What made it such a treat to shop there before was the rare finds and truly unique pieces. The store feels like a well run, properly staffed, thoughtfully organized, slightly upscale Marshalls to me now.
UPSIDE: The store is «shoppable» now. It’s huge and laid out well. Even though the options are less exciting than I’d like, there are some unique options to interest bargain shoppers seeking mark downs on high-​end options. There are still many deals to be found – I purchased a few items at 75% a few months ago and that is always a good thing.
SUMMARY: The store has been watered down and beefed up all at once. More people will be drawn to it. But folks like me, will visit less frequently. I am aware that I am not their target customer – my patronage does not keep the doors open and create an institution. I liked OF when it was more scrappy. It’s a much better store now. It draws in more customers and more people will be buying and wearing their clothes. And I will still stop by for gifts and a specific item. But I don’t love it like I used to.

I am a frequent visitor to different branches of Saks Off Fifth stores, mostly in the Bay Area, and once in a while, I run into a less than friendly employee. But this store, by far, wins the trophy in the most unfriendly store that I have ever visited. period. The staff with the exception of one, were extremely rude, unfriendly, and very unhelpful. Couple of them would not even lift their heads to look at you when you ask them a question. In another case, I wanted to see a different size of a shirt exists; I asked three people, two disappeared completely, and the third one would not even answer my hello, and could not find the item in her computer after spending a good 5 minutes. Soon after that, I started looking myself and found the size I was looking for in couple of minutes. Most of them seemed to be more interested to stand around and gossip behind one another. There was only one exception; an African American lady employee whose name unfortunately I did not capture!

Let me start out by saying I really love this new location! The 3 star rating is for the «crappy «employee posted at the fitting rooms. So, I had a cart load of clothes & shoes plus a handbag on hold (was there the day before). I go in to try on & I get met by this um not so nice worker. She tells me I can’t take the shoes in to try on? I can not take handbag either she tells me? Um what??? Mind you I have $ 1500 cash in my wallet, my BMW keys in my hand, I am in professional attire (since I just got off work) & I am being treated as if I am some bum off the street wanting to steal??? Um Hell to the No!!! I try on the clothes (sans bag & shoes). I felt like this employee was trying to watch me thru the curtains the entire time just to make sure I was not a thief! Anyways, I bought $ 300 in clothes & shoes, but seriously will not be back for awhile.

I was not impressed with this Saks. It looked like a higher class thrift store and they didn’t have a very impressive selection of bags or shoes. I saw the exact same Jimmy Choo about 15 different times. Despite having a fully staffed store, not one employee asked if they could be of assistance. Won’t go back.

I have found some good deals here and the selection is pretty great. Went today and there were several long racks on a «pink dot» sale– which meant that everything on it was 19.99. And it wasn’t the dregs. Plus almost the entire store was an extra 40% off the lowest ticketed price. I found several pairs of springy Jimmy Choos for under 300 bucks. And if I needed a cocktail or formal
dress, definitely would be the first place I’d try.
The thing that drives me nuts is that their carts don’t have a place to put your kid. I went the other day with my two year old and they had locked all but the furthest doors from the rest of the mall. then finally got in and had nowhere to put her. It wasn’t a productive shopping experience as you can imagine. So bring a stroller. I just usually hate bringing strollers because you have to stack everything on top and it’s not easy. Aaaaanyway. Get normal carts, people.

We love Saks OFF Fifth. This location is fairly new and we like that it doesn’t have two levels like some do. Parking is ample, and airplanes fly over frequently.
We visited for the first time on a recent trip and we will be back as we find these outlets to be the best of all the high brand (last call neiman Marcus, Nordstrom rack, etc).
We were greeted kindly and when I asked for a cart, one of the staff went and grabbed me one.
We also had a couple fitting rooms started for us as well and when I asked an employee re: price, the staff worked as a team to find that out for me.
The selection for men and women is great. The brands are exceptional and so are the prices! They also had an additional 30 off, plus 10 more if you had a Saks card!
The fittings room are a decent size and were well staffed. The staff was talking with themselves about things they perhaps shouldn’t have, but it didn’t really bother us. Another staff member who kinda of floated around different areas commented on how I looked good in several shirts so that was nice.
Service at the cashier was good and they had several staff working when things picked up which seemed to happen after we arrived.
Our bill was settled well and we left onwards to California.
The décor is fun, options are vast, service is good, and prices are fabulous. You’ve gotta check this store out.

OH MY GOSH I can’t express how much better this new location is compared to the old one near the south outlet. The store is cleaner, brighter, more organized and has a much better selection than the last one. Good bye Nordstrom Rack, I am never shopping anywhere but Saks Off 5^th again.
They have a huge selection of clothing (mens, womens, childrens), purses, jewelry, accessories, shoes. Their womens workout section was fairly small– mostly Calvin Klein. I would love to see them carry more yoga tops. They have a HUGE section of bags– I saw a lot of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Furla and Tory Bursch. They also have some formal dresses. Can I go back to high school prom?
The prices they have listed are already often up to half off… then they have signs on almost all racks that give you an additional 30−40% off the lowest ticketed price. I bought close to $ 400 worth of a Marc by Marc Jacobs, Free people, J brand jeans for $ 100. So happy with my haul!
Don’t attempt to walk through without a shopping cart. And don’t try to get through with just a basket, you will need the cart! The old Saks, Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, etc. only seem to carry a small selection of things you would actually wear/​buy Everything else seems like things that no one wanted. That was NOT the case at Off 5^th.
Not many people seem to know about this place yet and I hope it stays that way. There were so many things in my size. I will be so sad when this place catches on and the tourists eat everything up!

This is like a nicer, prettier Ross or Marshalls. There are deals to be found, but you have to hunt for them. And just like other discount places, finding your size is like finding a needle in a haystack. None of the signs ever line up with what sizes are actually on that rack. So if you have time to hunt, this could be a great place. But if you’re looking for something in particular, it’s just rather frustrating. But so goes discount shopping. This particular location is quite nice as it’s brand new. The staff are alright. The layout isn’t bad. The clothes are kept nicer and more put away than other places.

Town square was slacking with places to shop at but now they have that edge. To me, shopping is all about looking for deals and finding treasures which saks off 5^th fulfills for me.
About the store well its pretty much already been said. It is a lot bigger, brighter, organized and you don’t have to gore through a rack of clothes to see what each of them look like. That fact that it’s at town square is great since you have so many other options in terms of shopping and great places to eat while you do so.
Overall: This isn’t a place where everything you see will be a winner. Just like shopping at nordstrom rack, marshall etc. you will run into a lot of clothes that really don’t catch your eye until you find that gem. So best of luck to all of you and happy treasure hunting.

First spotted them today! One of the workers told me they haven’t even been open 2 weeks yet! Sooo happy with this location compared to the one by the south outlets. Much larger square footage, cleaner and more organized. Also, I love coming to Town Square so it’s the perfect location for me with it’s very own parking lot.
They’ve got everything here: women’s shoes/​purses/​jewelry/​watches/​sunglasses/​clothing, same for men and children as well. I also came at a great time where almost everything was an additional 40% off the lowest price! Definitely was eying a bunch of French Connection, Michael Kors, even a Celine Phantom-​styled Valentino purse for $ 390!!! OMG! Also the quality of the clothing is much better since at the other location I would find a lot of pieces with sequins hanging, buttons ripped off, etc. Not that much in this location! Well it’s still really new so we’ll see how this place holds up in a few months! :)
This will definitely be a place I frequently visit & I recommend everyone to take a peak as well!

If you had been to the other Off 5^th location outside the kind of crappy outlet mall on the south end of Las Vegas Blvd, probably like me, I had stopped going because it was not great. It once was great, but it had slipped in quality and clean layout, etc. over the years.
This new location at Town Square is not only in a better location to capture more of my business, but the quality is back. Bigger store, more open layout with lots of light, very organized. The location is the former Robb & Stuckey at Town Square (for those LV locals that remember that furniture store). It is in the same group of buildings as the Container Store & and kiddy corner to Flemings.
I have shopped at Saks and Saks Off 5^th for a long time, here in Vegas and across the country. I kind of hated that every other city had a better Off 5^th than Vegas. I’m glad we finally have a better Off 5^th in my own back yard. I will return.
