Sahara Coins & Precious Metals

Went on December 24, 2015 at 1:30 PM to pick up a Christmas present for someone special. This shop is located on Sahara and Rainbow in the Stone Canyon Professional Park.
You have to get «buzzed in» by someone who works there. They have a two-​door system I guess to weed out some of the crazies. I can’t blame them since they prolly have a crap ton of precious metals in there and god knows what else.
My dad is a numismatic enthusiast and as a young lady I was subject to being drug to every coin show and coin shop within a 40 mile radius of my home town. Lemme tell ya… most of them are filled with old farts arguing about the value of this or that. The shops are usually small and cramped and not very clean. Most of the shop keepers were grumpy and had a know-​it-​all attitude. I usually ended up in a corner somewhere sulking until it was time to go.
This place is clean and big and has loads of interesting coins and paper money to peruse. I saw quite a bit of graded coins and proof sets but it looks like they mostly deal in bullion. The young man who helped me was so nice and even gift-​boxed my item for me. I’d definitely come back because I got good vibes there.
When you go in to sell keep in mind that they are a business… not a charity. If they give you spot price how are they supposed to make a profit? Be prepared to get offered less than you think. This is how they operate. Be smart and check several different shops before you sell.

My son had an appointments across the parking lot so I decided to go check out some coins. I have a few silver coins and have always wanted to increase my collection. On two different occasions I rang the bell and waited. Nothing happened, no one answered. There were no closed signs or anything. If you made a conscience decision not to answer, that was a mistake. I will not return, have found another place that answers the door.

Adrian offered my elderly mother 30% less for a valuable coin than I was able to get from another dealer. Shameful to try to rip old people off.
Furthermore, they clearly padded their Google rating a few months before I posted this. Eleven consecutive 5 star ratings in the span of a month?! Pretty convenient… That’s more than they had in the several years before and since that month. Add that to their shady business practices.
Apart from that, I shopped there a few times in the past and found they had a decent selection of gold and silver coins and bullion. Just do your research and make sure you’re not getting ripped off by these people… Online dealers these days tend to be the best deal.

Went to this place after visiting another shop that tried to rip me off. And was glad I did really knowledgeable about coins and gold. Not a jewelry store but a real coin shop. Service was a little slow but overall a good experience. Would return and I would check them out before I sold any coins.

I tried selling bullion coins there. They originally quoted me closer to spot prices. When I got to the store, they gave me a run around story that the gold bullion coins were not «sellable» due to fingerprint oil and would only be willing to pay me more than 10% below spot prices. This entire story was a lie according to another coin shop.
I was shocked given bullion coins dont really require a mint condition and are only valued for their weight in gold.
I went to another coin shop and they told me that was a lie. Gold bullion coins sell near spot unless they are horribly damaged which these were not. they were in near perfect condition i was told. I then sold them all thru two other dealers close to spot prices after shopping around.
Otherwise the store clerks are seemingly nice. I just didnt like how they were trying to take advantage of me because I didnt know much about bullion physical.

In the commercial it is stated they buy costume jewelry but I was made to feel foolish for bringing mine in. Shame on them.

All I can say very friendly staff they offer you free bottles of water while you’re there very fair buying and selling. I say this one the best coin shops around there very knowledgeable and you won’t get screwed here come by and see them when you’re in Las Vegas take all your gold and silver coins here not to the pawnshops

Very nice clean place. Very comfortable atmosphere. Give u bottle water. When selling a lot they put u in a nice quiet room. U

The original owner Mark Scott is dead he was no bargain to deal with but the clowns running the place now are out to totally rip you off for anything they can BUYER BEWARE !

Sahara Coins is a must go for any new collector or seasoned investor. I really appreciate the «extras» in this place. They are all really cool to deal with and they really know the business. No sales pitch. No pushing to buy. They want to help and answer my questions and really make me think about my options before making an investment. The best sales people are teachers first and Sahara Coins prides themselves on education.

This is the must go place for gift and collector coins! The have a big selection and the staff is great. I came in to buy some gift silver dollar coins and I’m super happy with my purchase and overall experience. Thanks Sahara Coins, I’ll be back!

These guys are the bomb diggitty!!! They know their stuff and will not steer you wrong. Super cool shop full of all kinds of cool things, oh yeah the coins are pretty cool too!!! Check it out you won’t be disappointed

I found this place on the internet. After my visit, I have mixed emotions about this place. The guy I talked to was friendly, but the place is not as cool as it seemed on their website. I’ve been collecting coins for about 7 years, and their prices are outrageous, they pay outrageously low for what you are trying to sell, and they sell coins for way more than their actual value, plus they barely have any folders for coins, that was the reason I went there, to buy my niece a folder for quarters. I guess if I didn’t know the value of the coins they are selling everything would be ok, but I was able to buy what I needed for myself waaay cheaper at the coin show at the Riviera last weekend.

I love leaving good reviews! I wish they were always like that but this team at Sahara Coins definitely deserves a good review. I was very impressed with the teams knowledge on the coins that they sold. It’s like having a personal coins encyclopedia. Adrian helped me out a lot and frequently as I continued to go there. They explained to me what I should be looking for, what are common tricks of the trade and they taught me a few other things but I’d rather let you pay them a visit and see what they have to offer. It was a pretty awesome experience and even got me to be more excited about investing on a more normal basis.
The Manager Raymond was very nice and pretty cool guy, the atmosphere of the store was relaxed but still held a very professional and comfortable level that I enjoy going back to from time to time when I want to invest my monies in to precious metals.
Some of the selections of Gold Coins that they have available was actually pretty substantial and I was really taken back by a $ 21,000 plus coin they have in the store. I am fairly new to this side of investing but I am stoked to know that whenever I have a question I can either find it on either one of their websites or on through the team by just giving them a brief call.
If you are in the area I recommend to give them a shot if you haven’t yet. If you are not in the area they did show me to the inventory page of their site so was able to take a look at all of the options they have right through the site. Great place!

I was recommended to take some coins I had to Sahara Coins by a friend. They were so helpful and knowledgeable. Even though I found out what I had wasn’t worth much they still talked me through the process and gave me some ideas on what to do with my items. Very nice people. I have recommended them already to a few people I don’t even know!

The staff seemed very friendly and knew what they were talking about. It was a long wait before I was able to speak with anyone regarding selling coins I found when cleaning out my grandmother’s house. The gentleman was able to tell me the history about some of the coins and I was able to sell most of them. The others he suggested I sell on eBay as they were worth very little and not enough for them to make a profit. Understandable.
As my first time doing anything of this sort and I was made to feel very comfortable.

I went to Sahara Coins & was promptly buzzed in and greeted by someone at the counter. I explained what I wanted and was immediatly shown the inventory and made arrangements to purchase. I had a pleasant conversation with the salesperson while filling out the paperwork. I would highly reccomend them from the experience I had and I will continue to give them my business. They are located in a decent part of town, have a nice showroom & thier website is a good source to monitor preciuos metal prices & is updated daily.
