I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much given the other reviews. But I was staying at the Suncoast with no car and in desperate need of a haircut so I bit the bullet and gave Pure salon a try. The receptionist was very friendly when I called to make the appointment, and answered all of my questions about what was included in their women’s haircut(shampoo & blow dry) and cost($ 55& up). Price is based on length, and she let me know to check with the stylist when I arrived for an exact quote. My chin length hair stayed at the base price. Shoulder length is $ 65. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and offered water. The stylist, Galina, was very friendly. I brought a photo with me to show her what I wanted, and was very specific about my preferences. She did a great job following both and I’m very happy with the cut. It looked great straight out of the salon, but even better, it looked just as good the next day after a shower. No product needed.

I put one star only because they don’t have a zero star rating! I received as a present from my husband a massage and facial for Valentine’s Day. I was very excited to go to the Pure Salon Spa as I had been there several times in the past and always enjoyed the service’s I received there. However, I was less than pleased with the Services I received this time. The Massage was first service, it was just ok, nothing like the last massage I received from Stacey the last time I was there. However, Stacey no longer worked there, she had returned to her home state of Michigan. The Massage Therapist never once checked in with me on the pressure, that didn’t bother me as much as her massaging my head with oil without asking me if it was ok for her to do so, which had she asked me, I would have opted out, as I had just spent all morning doing a Keratin treatment on my hair and using oil on my hair totally ruined it. She had already put the oil on my head so it was too late to complain, so I didn’t. Next was my facial. I was lead into the room and laid down on the table the Esthetician began wetting my face without putting a headband on me to protect my hair and she was getting it wet, so I had to ask her if she had a headband she could put on me. She apologized and said that she usually does that but she had been so busy that day she had just done five facials. Which frankly was not my problem, I was concerned about my hair. She continued on with the cleansing, exfoliation and mask. While the mask was on my face she left the room for about ten minutes, which is a no no! A esthetician should never leave a client with and product on them, as they might have an alergic reation and people have been known to die on the table, this is acutuall a liabilly. After she came back in the room and removed the mask with a hot towel and applied moisturizer. I left the room with my hair a hot mess, face greesy from too much moisturizer and also my nostrils were full of dried exfoliant. I was not a Happy Camper! I paid for my service minus the gratuity, I always leave a tip, but not on this day. I gave the receptionist my business card and asked her to have the management call me. Three day’s later I receive a call from John who identified himself as the manager. I explained to John how and why I was unhappy about my services. He proceeded to tell me he couldn’t believe that it happened because the therapist and estheticians who serviced me alway gets requests. I continued to tell him what happened more than once and he just kept saying he didn’t believe me. He kept asking me why I put in a online complaint rather than calling him? He seemed very upset about it. He also told me that they had fired the receptionist that I left the card with, so he claims he never received it from her. Finally he said that it was the Therapist and the Estheticians day off and that he would call them to check with them and call me back. First off what kind of customer service is that? He basically was calling me a liar! And to add insult to injury he never called me back. I have to say I will never go there again for anything, they have lost a customer. And I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!

Let me start with the good which may be the most important and only thing that matters to some; the color was amazing and the stylist was very educated. Unfortunately the awful experience left me forgetting his name. I typically go to Red Rock Spa or Cosmopolitan for my hair color. I am a brunette trying to live in a blondes world so I need someone who really knows color. I find the higher end spots tend to have better hairstylists but that’s just me. I say this because I am very aware of what a nice environment, facility and treatment is like. I purchased a Groupon ONLY because my regular girl was unavailable and I needed my hair done ASAP as I was leaving town. I planned on purchasing the half head of highlights but he said he would need to do ¾ so I figured I should probably get the entire head of highlights groupon. I asked the manager or receptionist or friend of the employees, not really sure what she was because she didn’t act like an employee, whatever she was, I asked if she preferred I just paid them directly since groupon would take half and she agreed. The stylist told me he would be using highlights and lo-lights but there would be a small fee.(Small) I said ok. During my service, the lady who’s job is still a mystery was playing YouTube videos in Spanish really loud, there was no sound system or music. Out of frustration I had to ask twice for real music to be played. She finally turned it on but also played her YouTube. While I was sitting in foils, my stylist grabbed a cigarette and walked through the salon with it in his mouth as he walked out to light it up in a smoking area. Yuk. When rinsing me out, the bowl next to me started to leak all over the floor and the employees kept talking in front of me about how it was requested be fixed but nothing has been addressed. I sat at the bowl with a wet head while my stylist did a blow dry on another guest… way to add time to my service as if my time is free. In that time I watched the mystery employee shop at smith’ or something like that. Come to think of it, I think mystery girl’s name was Rosie or something because when I called that’s how she answered, not«thank you for calling pure, how can I help» just«Rosie» I had to ask if it was a Salon. After my hair was done, the moment of truth.. payment. So $ 60 groupon with a *small* fee for lo-lights. That small fee: $ 60.00. So the total is now $ 120. When I said«really»? Mystery girl replied with«what?! Where do you work? You can afford that». I was furious! I told her that the treatment took up the same amount of time, foils and product and that it was just a difference in alternating colors. She replied with«well that is our lo-light fee» I brought the stylist over and explained to him the situation and how he said it was a small fee so finally they agreed to lower the price to $ 100.00 what a scam! I had only brought a $ 100 bill with me because I was supposed to pay $ 60 and wanted to tip him $ 40. Now I had to charge my card. When I asked for change for the $ 100 to tip the stylist they had already closed their drawers so I had to wait while another employee took my $ 100 bill into the casino to break it at a machine. So awkward! I still tipped the stylist $ 40 as his work was good but the experience I had, they should have paid me to be there! Absolutely awful!

I completely agree with Leesa B and Thao N., this was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life! I honestly thought I was on an episode of a sitcom, because the situation was unreal, or on a game show where the goal was to disrespect you until you lose your temper! I wish I could give them negative stars it was so awful. I went with 3 of my girls friends to get a color and cut, and one of my friends was also getting her hair fixed from a botched high light from her trip before, by a different stylist, Galina. We were greeted by a very pleasant and friendly receptionist(the only person this place has going for it), who was interrupted by an extremely loud and aggressive girl, who was the new stylist. Before we took 2 steps, she stated that she doesn’t fix other peoples problems for free. We were in shock, and when we got to her station she was extremely confrontational, insulting, and arrogant. Example, she asked«what’s wrong with the color?» My friend replied that you couldn’t even see any high lights, Galina said that the color is fine and my friend is not a professional and has no clue what she’s talking about and there’s no way to fix it, that was the start of what, you could imagine, became a HUGE snowball. She refused to do any work, unless paid and TIPPED(are you kidding me?!), refused a refund from the first trip, until we finally had the owner called because the manager was the stylist that screwed up my friends hair the first time! This place is a joke, they even have 2 Unilocal sites, go check out the first one, you’ll see.

the worst experience ever! I came in for a high light and trim and the man doing my hair told me no on every color I ponted to and then finally said ok, and when all was finished he put in the color of his choosing! it looks terrible! when I saw the color he said to wait a week and wash it everyday to fade it out and I’ll be happy, absolutely no color stayed in! when I called to make an appointment for the salon to fix it the man yelled at me on the phone and someone else will take care of it. when I came in and sat with the new stylist she was confrontational, demeaning, and a racist! saying that I don’t know what I am talking about. Then proceed to be rude to my friends. Yelling at all of us. The only person who was professional was the receptionist, who kept apologizing to us.

All I gotta say is STACY(the massuse) deserves 10STARS! She was ammmmazing! As a therapeutic massuse she was able to tell me what I am doing to get these freking knots etc.(aside from never having a real massage) she was able to help me with advise on why I get shin spints when I jog and how to stop them, It was a relaxing, experience, and even if you are staying on the strip, I recommend going here for a massage, gotta make your appt. with Stacey though!

This Place is truly an experience for us! It really is the best salon and spa in town especially for their prices too. I loved everything about Pure Salon and Spa at the Suncoast Hotel…
