Performance Footwear and Wide shoes

What a moronic business model. Can’t try shoes on unless you get fitted by their computer. It’s $ 20 for the computer run if you don’t buy a shoe! Was the sales girl lazy? Is this for real?

I did not have a good experience here today. It’s been about 4 years since I was a daily runner but I wanted to get back into things and getting new shoes seemed like a good start. I brought in my old shoes and I wanted to try the new generation of them because I had heard the company changed the shoe line’s design.
The person working there was extremely rude once she found out my shoes were several generations old. She curtly said they didn’t have the new generation in my size (10) and that if I liked the old shoe I should only look at the new version of it. And that was it.
She didn’t say if they would ever get my size in, she didn’t suggest any similar brands/​lines to try, nor did she even suggest another store to try. I started looking at the shoes on the wall to maybe see for myself if another brand looked right but she and the other employee in the store kept staring at me and then she sarcastically apologized that they didn’t have my size.
I know that’s not their fault but why wouldn’t they suggest any alternative when I said coming in that I’d like to try a range of new shoes? All in all it was a bizarre and uncomfortable encounter and almost made me regret deciding to start running again.

Tom Buck of Performance Footwear is sure a stand up guy who KNOWS what customer service is all about. I’ve been running in Newton running shoes for years. The pads in the forefront of the shoe always numbered in 4. The new 5 pad just killed the outer muscle/​IT band of both legs. Two five mile runs of sheer agony made me realize I had to call him. He took time to put me in some new shoes, two types, Hoka and Altra. The Hoka felt much better. Thanks, Tom, for everything. You’re the best and I will not be shopping for running shoes ANYWHERE else.

The store owner is amazing he is friendly and full of information recommending a few styles and brands of shoes for exactly what’s best for me! Sooo loving my new brooks! Thanks Tom! You’re the man def going to bring friends in for a fitting soon and will highly recommend

My husband, son, and I had a wonderful experience at Performance Footware. Tom is so knowledgeable about all different shoes and about feet. The gait analysis test he performed on both my husband and son really helped us to understand what their feet naturally did when they walked and how to help them correct their issues. He took a ton of time with us making sure we got the perfect shoes and orthotics. He was not a pushy salesman, we truly appreciate all of his help. We highly recommend this store to anyone who is an athlete or has an issue with their feet.

Buyer Beware! Upon entering the store for the first time, I noticed something odd. None of the shoes or items on display were priced. I received expert fitting care, however this expertise came at a great price. The shoes that I purchased were available at other shoe retailers for $ 40.00 less. Now I understand why the shoes were not price marked at the point of purchase. I can appreciate an independent retailer pricing merchandise higher than «Big Box» retailers, but I can’t appreciate an upcharge of almost 30%,
Advice to this retailer… price mark your goods, so the customer doesn’t think the prices are made up willy nilly.

They actually fit your foot to the shoe. Very knowledgeable. I felt like I got a good deal.

I’ve put off writing this review for a couple of weeks now, tossing over my experience.
I had met Tom, the owner, through an expo in the past. I didn’t have a lot of interaction with him at that time as I was more interacting with an employee of his (no longer in Las Vegas). That first meeting (years ago) left me a little… unsettled. There was just something about his attitude/​persona that I didn’t like, but I couldn’t put my finger on it so I just considered it being me and not him. No big deal.
I had ordered shoes from a different store and was told they were on back order. I was worried because i had a half-​marathon to run before their back order would be filled and I wanted time in the new shoes before the race. I called Performance Footwear and was informed my shoe and size were available. We went up to their store and were the only people there.
We were greeted by the gal behind the counter, I told her I had just called and she pulled the shoe for me. I was talking with them about having shoes on order but needing a pair now and Tom’s attitude about the other store was very unprofessional. He made rude and unnecessary comments about the other store, other owner and their staff. I would honestly be surprised if he has ever been to the other store himself. Here’s a tip, Tom. Badmouthing your competition doesn’t make them look bad — it reflects on YOU. I wasn’t even talking to him in the first place, but he heard my statement and entered the conversation on his own. Had I not been freaking out about having shoes for the half-​marathon, I would NOT have given him my business.
While I was talking about my shoes and he had done enough negative talk with me, he then we to talk with my husband and proceeded to tell my husband he was wrong about his shoe choice. Tom was basically a «know it all» without actually KNOWING anything about us, what we do, our own knowledge and running history. He questioned our shoe fits and tried to push us for a fit saying it was probably not accurate.
Well, Tom, guess what… it was YOUR GUY who did my fit and he’s the only reason I even considered giving you my business. So, in trying to bash your competition, you were actually bashing your own employees/​process. Maybe you should try to be less judgmental and be constructive with your knowledge. Even then, though, don’t expect me or any of my running buddies to set foot in that store again. A shame, really.

They told my friend she had to pay $ 20 to try shoes on today, and was limited to trying 3. I feel like I jerk that I referred them. My buddy gave them the $ 20 and left. This is uncalled for and terrible business. My wife buys 4 – 6 pair of shoes from them a year for running. I’m going to find her brand online and order elsewhere. I thought he was joking when he told me. When I realized he wasn’t joking I felt badly I sent in there.

I have been running for some time and have been through gait analysis without being charged. I went and explained what I was looking for with respect to my gait and running shoes I previously used. The sales person was rude and dismissive. She told me she couldn’t suggest a shoe for me to try on unless I went through her gait analysis. If I don’t buy shoes there without the analysis I would be charged $ 20.

I would have given this place 3 stars if I needed running shoes, but i needed TENNIS shoes and they sold me a running shoe stating it was listed in their book for tennis. NOT the case. When I originally asked for a specific Asics court shoe they told me it was not a quality shoe. HMM really? is that why its one of the top rated court shoes in the industry? they insisted their shoe was better. OK, so I order and pay in advance, they tell me it would be 2 – 3 days which then turned into 2+ wks… ridiculous. Only to get a pair of shoes that were a size to big for my foot and not supportive enough for tennis. They wasted 3 wks of court time for me with no effort to make up for that.
Brandi was always nice and helpful and the only reason I gave them 2 stars. The owner was less helpful and concerned with my needs as a customer. They really missed the mark for me. This store is a great concept with poor execution.

The time has come to retire my old dead running shoes and get new ones. The store that bought my last two pairs closed. I heard about this store from my triathlon family talked about running assessment, Tom owner great guy, and hell was close to my house. Am in.
It just so happened had a friend visiting from 808. She was looking to a get new pair of running shoes also. It worked out great cause she ended up getting the running assessment. There is one catch if you do get it. Basically need to be committed getting pair cause if not cost you $ 20. We both had every intention of getting pair just in my case decided pass. I found it interesting the whole process watching my friend do it. She ran on the treadmill just with socks (I found weird if breaking down someone foot strike pattern would want shoes on). They have camera that sits right behind and films your feet strikes or way both feet land. The sales lady (god bless her forget her name) she was breaking it down telling my friend her running style like gazelle. Whether your landing more on your heels or toe. They break it down to science not only the way your feet strike but the bigger picture your running style effects overall health. Running takes toll on ones body. Last thing anyone should do bad form next thing know had chronic back problems or what not. If know getting pair would recommend taking the time get one. They do take appointments for it. We went basically the store first opened took chance and we were the only ones in the store. It worked out great. Believe my friend got Asic or New Balance. She enjoys that since been out running on them couple times.
Myself I never knew until last year starting my triathlon addiction that having proper running shoes makes HUGE difference. I started with pair of Brooks. Actually just so happen my second pair got the same ones. If not broke why change it? Really do love the fit and feel of Brooks running shoes. I have a feeling for the style one again my mind set was another pair of Brooks. She looked at my old pairs got the size. I did keep open mind about other brands. She started out bringing out shoes to try each one little different style then the next. Even for my friend we each tried on four or five different pair of shoes. We walked around the store and even better feel ran outside in the front up and down. The Brooks love the feeling, support under my feet, like the look, and ended up settling on my third pair of Brooks Ravenna. =))
Service was no doubt FIVE star one. The moment my friend and I walked in customer service could not have been more on point. She explained clearly the deal with the treadmill assessment. Like mention earlier you can tell she done few assessments. Not only with terminology but she knows what she talking about. The whole time trying on different pairs asking questions about the little comfort issues. Friendly. Easy make conversations with making the process easier and fun. She was bouncing between the two of us. Tom came in later he doing my friend finish instead of her jumping between both of us. She was telling Tom breakdown on her assessment. Tom talk about passion as owner. Great guy. Talking stories with him is blast, makes you laugh, also you can tell got wealth of knowledge with shoes (my friend use to Nike and he was telling her why not fan or really carries Nike), and cares about his customers. No pressure on buying pair of shoes or getting higher end shoe. Tom and his crew really do everything make sure you get the right one!
No doubt found my new running shoe store.

I have never written an online review before, but — after my experience at Performance Footwear on 3÷14÷15 — I feel compelled to write one now.
My daughter is a freshman on her high school track team, and she needed (we thought) a pair of training shoes for practice runs & a pair of racing flats for meets. We visited a local sporting goods store which had a very limited supply of running shoes in her size (on the small side). The salesman recommended Performance Footwear and said that if anyone could meet our needs, it was them.
We were assisted by Brandi, who listened to my daughter’s concerns about some ankle pain she was experiencing while running. Brandi had my daughter run on the treadmill and showed us the video which revealed that she had some issues with overpronation. Brandi then brought out several pairs of shoes suited to my daughter’s needs and let her try on and test out as many as she wanted.
After a while, the owner (Tom) came into the store and began to answer all of our questions and taught us all kinds of things about the science of running that we didn’t know before. My daughter found a pair of shoes that she loved, and then Tom told her that, because of her overpronation issues, she should use the one pair of shoes for both training and for meets. Tom could have easily sold us another pair of racing flats, but he knew she didn’t need them.
My daughter and I were extremely impressed with the level of customer service we received, the quality of the shoes we purchased, and –above all — the patience and integrity shown by Tom and his staff. We gained a ton of knowledge and my daughter found an answer to her ankle pain. That alone was (to me) worth 10 times the amount of money I paid for the shoes. We’ll definitely be return customers for our future footwear needs!

Only place I go to get larger size sneakers. Prices are reasonable as nd there’s easy access. Not to mention a couple places to eat, drink and grocery shop

Treating myself to a new pair of shoes today! I’m from LA, but when visiting my family in Vegas three weeks ago, we decided to get my mom a new pair of running shoes. We found this store on Unilocal,checked it out, and I have to say we were very impressed. Tom and his staff are very helpful and extremely knowledgeable on footwear and finding the correct pair of shoes to use. They’ll do an impromptu survey of what kind of shoes you are looking for and for what purpose. Then they’ll put you on a treadmill and film you running for 20 seconds. Tom replays the film and goes over what kind of shoes will be best for you, and then you try 3 – 4 pairs of shoes. My mom found the perfect pair, and her feet have been very happy while running these past three weeks.
The treadmill/​filming is complimentary if you buy shoes same-​day. Otherwise it’s $ 20. If they don’t have the shoe size/​color in stock, then they’ll also order for you.
I know there’s probably tons of shoe stores in LA, but I waited until this weekend to come back to Vegas and buy from Tom. Can’t wait!

Great sales associated with ample knowledge of feet and shoes. They do not work on commission and will do what it takes to make sure you get the right pair of shoes. The prices are a little higher than you might find online, but it’s worth it to have the knowledge.

After making a video of me walking and jogging on his treadmill we sat down and he explained everything about the way I walk. He measured my feet and brought out the most comfortable athletic shoes I’ve ever worn! Tom is such a wealth of knowledge, he listened to every complaint about my feet and answered every question. Not only did we buy my shoes but my husband had his gait and feet measured and he got a pair too!

First place I’ve ever gone for shoes. My wife has been to many, and said this was the nicest place she’s ever been to. I would recommend an appointment, since the owner was there and his gal put me right on the treadmill, did a video analysis, and knew immediately why my knees were bothering me after she saw the shoe I was currently in.
We tried on about seven different types of shoes, and then settled on my brand. They give a ten day return policy; whether you’ve worn them or not. Knees have felt so much better since I bought my new shoes.
One and only place in town we will go for shoes in the future. Cheers to local business!

Never seen an owner provide more information, listen and genuinely care for his customers the way he did.
My girlfriend and I went there to get her some new running shoes and as we walked in, he greeted us with a big smile and a welcoming attitude. He asked very specific questions, then asked some situational questions and came to the conclusion that she had plantar fasciitis. Then he prompted her to get on the treadmill and took video of her running which he later reviewed with us pointing out some issues with her running that the right pair of shoes would help.
After trying on a few shoes, he started pointing out some of the features of each that would help her. Eventually we settled on a pair, we paid, chatted for a few more, then left. Upon exiting, we realized that we had shown up about 10 minutes before he closed and recalled that the first thing he had eagerly said was «come on in, how can I help?» with a big smile. We left 30 minutes after he closed. The only thing I wish we would have done was tip him for staying extra just for us.
