New Eyes – Las Vegas

The 1 star review is specific to the doctor who performed my first chalazion removal. Her name is Dr. Helga Pizio. She was very nice and personable but her technique is in need of improvement. She didn’t numb me first, just stuck a clamp in my eye to hold down my lid, stuck me with a steroid shot and starting in with the cutting. It was so painful. I thought the pain was the lidocaine shot but when she said ‘we’re almost done’, I realized she hadn’t numbed me at all and the pain I was filling was the cutting itself. Within an hour, I called the office back describing the excruciating pain I was experiencing and was just told that it was normal to feel some soreness. A few hours later, I couldn’t stand it and went to the ER where I learned the doctor had scratched my cornea. With the amount of pain I was feeling, it should have been at least considered that I had a corneal abrasion and told by the office how to handle that. AND, to top it all off, she didn’t even get all of it and I had to go back a second time a few weeks later. The second removal was at the same location but with a different doctor, Dr. Ksenia Stafeeva, and a MUCH better experience so that’s why it’s important to note that my rating is just for Dr. Pizio and not for New Eyes in general.

I am out in Nevada for a month for work. I don’t have any healthcare provider out here. However, I had an unexpected eye problem the other day. After calls to many opthalmologists in the area, I unfortunately found out that my medical insurance wasn’t taken anywhere, including here. However, New Eyes had the best out of pocket rate for sure — only $ 135. Most of the other places were charging around $ 300. Honestly, I ended up choosing this practice for financial reasons. However, I was a little skeptical about it since it was significantly cheaper than other practices.
To my pleasant surprise, New Eyes was an exceptional experience! Dr. Pizio was very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. She took the time to explain things to me and was very helpful with answering my questions. Her staff was also friendly and professional as well. I highly recommend Dr. Pizio for all of your eye care needs.

My eye surgery went as planned and that is great. So do a millions others every year. My disappointment is with the billing. I choose to pay cash for all of my medical services and my price quoted continues to grow.
After the procedure, the office tried to bill me for a routine scheduled follow up visit that they require and now a year later i get a bill from the anesthesiologist for another 300. When I went for my first evaluation (also a separate fee) i was quoted a price for the service. No one mentioned the additional ~500 in fees.

Was looking forward to my first appointment with Dr. Pizio at the New Eyes Henderson office. I told them I have Medicare and Medicaid insurance. The day before my appointment I get call from receptionist saying that if I need cataracts surgery, that I will need to take my husbands name off the primary insurance and have myself as the primary. I asked them «WHAT HUSBAND??» I’ve been divorced for 25 years! I had already told I had medicare and medicaid but now they are saying there is another insurance called ZURICH AMERICAN that is thru my «husbands» insurance. I verified with social services as well as my ex HUSBAND and neither of them seem to know what New Eyes is talking about. He does NOT HAVE NOR EVER HAD Insurance called ZURICH. AND SOCIAL SERVICES VERIFIED THAT I ONLY HAVE MEDICARE AND MEDICAID! So I suggested to Courtney in Billing that perhaps my file got mixed up with someone’s else’s insurance information but she said that is impossible for them to make a mistake. Wow. I called and made another appointment with another opthamologist and what do you know? Everything went through smoothly! No mysterious «ZURICH» insurance found by this other doctor! Glad I went somewhere other than New Eyes!

Couldn’t see side mirrors in my car anymore, went to Dr Pizio and she was great! My eyelids look wonderful and I can see again. Staff was very helpful and always pleasant. I recommend highly!

BOTCHED SURGERY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Had Upper eyelid blepharoplasty. I received approval from insurance after a week I called to schedule an appointment, they couldn’t find the approval so I faxed it over, another 2 or 3 days goes by I heard nothing, called back they still couldn’t find paperwork faxed again and a 3^rd time. Pre-​op appointment was with a guy who must have been new, he was explaining the surgical procedure and said we will give you sun glasses to wear home, I realized after my surgery I was given information for cataract patients! I still have a horrible scar on my right eye and Dr. Pizio took more off my right eyelid so it’s smaller than my left eyelid, it’s difficult to close my right eye. I went in to address these issues and she said «WE DID THIS FOR VISION» she wouldn’t admit she did a horrible job! She said I could go into the office and she would pull skin down over the scar, well I’m terrified to that now. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO DR. PIZIO FOR SURGERY YOU WILL JUST BE A NUMBER IN HER ASSEMBLY LINE!

When to new eyes for cataract surgery and to fix a astigmatism. Left eye came out ok, the right eye that dr. Pizio did, I see double now. Can’t drive at night. When I questioned what happened, everyone began giving me different answers. It was like a floor show. They offered to attempt to fix it with prk surgery, but was told it wasn’t a sure thing. The bottom line is they told me, well you sended the consent form. So if you go here for your surgery, roll the dice. I’m going to Brimhall to have them fix what new eyes did to my good eye!

DON’T BELIEVE OTHER REVIEWS MOST WRITTEN BY FRIENDS AND FAMILY OF THE PRACTICE.
Called THREE TIMES to verify my insurance and told them EVERY TIME MORE THAN ONCE that I did not think my insurance would cover the visit I was told OVER AND OVER that it would be ok. I 100% made sure to tell the to PLEASE call insurance company SEVERAL TIMES EVERY PHONE CALL AND when I went in after having a serious eye issue that I waited weeks for I was not covered, had to take the day off work, and was treated RUDELY by the staff who also did not even know how to tell me how to get to their location. They were clueless in giving a good description where in relation they were to other business complexes and knowing north, south, west and east. Not one person in the office could give even mediocre directions.

Dr. Helga Pizio of New Eyes treated me for a persistent and painful chalazion on my eyelid. After successfully removing it, she had me return for a follow-​up visit. I was very pleased with the Summerlin office where the surgery was done: it is clean, spacious and very tastefully decorated. My next appointment was at Dr Pizio’s office on Wigwam Parkway, which is easy to find using 215 South to exit 6. This is an especially pleasant location with ample parking, and the office itself is spotless and attractive, which is confidence-​inspiring. In addition, the staff is welcoming and helpful. Dr. Pizio is very pleasant, professional and precise; she is a uniquely civilized and compassionate doctor. My husband found this excellent ophthalmologist by checking the patient-​reviews of her practice on Unilocal.I have been to ophthalmologists in New York City and elsewhere. Dr. Helga Pizio is the best among them – I recommend her with great enthusiasm!

When I first found out that I had cataracts, I was pretty depressed. I’m 68 and everything about my health seemed to be declining. My daughter, who is a medical student assured me that cataracts were not such a bad thing since they could easily be fixed and that my eyesight would be much better as a result. I didn’t think that my eyesight was that bad. I didn’t have a clue that I even had cataracts.
After exams by two other ophthalmologists it was clear that Medicare would pay for the basic surgery, but in order to get the best results, I would have to pay $ 6,000 out of my pocket at the Wellish Institute or $ 5,600 at the Abrams clinic. My daughter told me to get a 3^rd opinion, which I thought would be a waste of time, but I made an appointment to see Dr. Pizio at New Eyes. I’m soooooo glad that I did. Dr. Pizio assured me that I didn’t need laser surgery or anything that would cost me a dime out of pocket! She said that some patients need laser surgery but I was not one of them and agreed to do my surgery for the money that Medicare paid! I asked Dr. Pizio to explain to my daughter what she found from my examination and she agreed. After speaking to my daughter and explaining everything to her, my daughter called me and told me that (and I quote) «She’s Amazing!» She said that Dr. Pizio is everything that a doctor should be. She was really impressed.
I’ve had both my eyes done now and I want to let everyone know how well everything went. Everyone I came in contact with at the New Eyes clinic and the surgery center were amazing. They made me feel very comfortable and the surgery and recovery have been a breeze. I can see so much better now! I don’t even need glasses anymore after wearing them for 50+ years! Everything it bright and crystal clear! Evidently the cataracts are yellowish and make everything dark. I didn’t have any idea of what I was missing.
To sum up, if you are over 60 and feel that your eyesight is not up to snuff, go and have them checked for cataracts. If you have them, don’t waste your time with other doctors and go right to Dr. Pizio at New Eyes! You’ll be glad that you did!

Knowing I needed cataract surgery and being relatively new to Las Vegas, I asked a friend who knows a scrub nurse that works with many different eye doctors who she would use if it were her or a member of her family who needed this procedure. Without hesitation she said Dr. Pizio. So I went to see her. I have never been so impressed with a doctor in my life. She is down-​to-​earth, personable and exceptionally competent. She answered every question, allayed every fear and her friendly and efficient staff took care of everything. The trip to the surgery center went just as efficiently. The procedure took five minutes and was totally painless. I can see the bright colors of the world again and couldn’t be happier!

I had surgery on both eyes, and my vision is now 20 – 20, that’s great considering what it was before I went to the good doctor. Like most folks, I had an aversion to someone working on my eyes, but this was professional, cordial, even pleasant. The office is very efficiently run, with little downtime or waiting. Any question I had was answered completely, and the entire staff, from the receptionist at entry, to the surgeon, seemed genuinely interested and caring. I couldn’t ask for better in any category.
