Mcghie’s Ski, Bike & Board

I went to go get a tubing on my tire replaced and was amazed by the service! They saw me trying to get my bike out of my vehicle and came out to help. He replaced my tubing in about 10 minutes. I was then amazed on how inexpensive it was. Excellent service and affordable! I will go there for all my bicycle and skiing needs! Very impressed!

I had a trip planned to go snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain and Mcghie’s was able to fit me perfectly for a board, boots and bindings. I hadn’t been snowboarding in many years and the staff was able to fit me perfectly for a board, boots and bindings.
When I went to return the board, I didn’t realize that the shop closed at 7pm. I called the shop in a panic hoping that someone would still be there to check in my board. I spoke to Sam on the phone and he was incredibly helpful, I told him that I was 40 minutes away and I understood if they couldn’t stay open. I really needed to return my board since I was leaving early the next morning for a different trip (slightly poor planning on my part). Instead of telling me that I was out of luck, he told me he would meet me at a shopping plaza nearby. He said that we wouldn’t be able to bring my paperwork but he would check in the board and I would be able to get my paperwork when I return from my trip. I thanked him immensely over the phone and met him quickly. When I arrived at the plaza, he met me at the car, checked my gear and even had my paperwork so I didn’t have to worry about rushing back! This going way above and beyond for customer service and because of this Mcghie’s will always have my business if and when I need gear. If I could give them a more than 5 stars I would in a heartbeat!

I went here just to browse and learn more hands on info regarding MTB. I had done quite a bit of research regarding bikes. Michael was the rep from Mcghies who helped me and really opened my eyes to what I should look for. He even recommended I go check out other bike stores which I did do but, they ridiculously priced and the customer service and just overall technical expertise seem to lack compared to these guys. I actually ended buying a bike that one of the reps owned and he gave me the low down on the bike and they really do go that extra mile with you to make sure you are well informed and know exactly what you are getting into. Also they were not high pressure sales. I will continue to shop here in the future.

My only experience with McGhie’s is with their shop area. I had bindings put on my snowboard and I’m a beginner, so I trusted they knew what they were doing. In hindsight, some red flags were not being asked my stance (I got a call later asking me about it), not asking if I ride freestyle or park and not getting my height. I took my board out and on the first run I felt terrible and like my knees were going to blow out. I took the board to the shop at the resort, before the next run, and the guy fixed it — saying the width of my stance was set too wide for my height and they mounted the bindings for park riding. After that, smooth sailing.
So, for bindings, I would recommend looking elsewhere, have a trusted friend mount them or just get them done at the slopes when you go.
Positives: the staff I picked my board up from were nice. It looks like they have a good selection of gear.

I am not in Mcghie’s target audience. I don’t own a bike, a board, or skis, and I’ve done a good job at avoiding snow altogether for the past couple decades. But an impending holiday ski trip was what brought me in their doors.
I called ahead to see if they had clothes or just equipment, and they do have both– stock of women’s wear is surprisingly large, from foundation layers to vests, coats, and pants. Price ranges are beyond my comprehension, but again, this isn’t my forte. I happily found two large clearance racks with enough selection to spend 45 minutes in the dressing room and under $ 100 for an outfit.
Service was largely absent for the majority of my visit– I browsed, pulled clothes, and helped myself to a dressing room. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, sometimes I really don’t want to be hassled by well-​intentioned sales people. I finally encountered staff at checkout, who praised my deal-​finding skills and were friendly to boot. Posted notices inform shoppers that sales and events can be found on their Facebook page.

I’ve sent a few clients, who needed to rent bikes and looking to buy one, here. They’ve all received the most awful customer service. The last incident was one of the girls rented a bike and was very interested in the computer to track her speed, time and mileage. We were all going different paces, so she needed her own. When she got to the lake, the computer on the bike wasn’t working and we noticed the sensor was missing. She returned it and explained the problem. The guy gave her complete attitude and actually blamed her for losing it.
Not only do we have multiple people renting bikes, but they’re also interested in buying one. We will take our business elsewhere after multiple experiences with awful customer service!

What a great place to shop and have your bike worked on. I’ve been here about 4 times in the past two weeks and words cannot describe how friendly the staff is. This place is like that hidden gem you’ve been looking for all your life and it makes you want to keep coming back. Joe and Dave who worked on my bike are friendly, experienced and are always willing to answer my questions. I don’t care if I have to pay a few extra dollars (compared to online stores) for their products because the service they provide makes up for it. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.

I like the store and staff. The location is tricky to get to the first time you go. I’ve purchased several bikes from them and have been happy with the pricing and fitting of the bike.

I stopped by to get my bike fixed… had a braking problem on my ride Saturday. I thought i would have to leave my bike but the guys fixed it right away and the service was excellent. They have our business from now on… impeccable service. I wish i could remember the guys who were working on the bikes… i would give them a high 5.

If you are active or wanting to get active this is the place to go! I have been renting ski’s my whole life and finally decided to purchase some since we have been doing a lot of ski trips lately. I walked in knowing nothing and Chris was happy to oblige. He pointed me in all the right directions and gave me 4 different ski boots to wear for a period of time to decide if I was happy with them. He told me why he made every suggestion that he did. They have a sign that says that they will match internet pricing so of course, I checked all of my items online. They were the exact same price. They attached my bindings while I was there and off I went. 12 hours later I was skiing in Brian Head and beyond satisfied with my new gear. Thanks Chris, you rock!

Really not a big fan of the salesperson telling me my rocker snowboard that I love is crap. I’ve been riding for close to 30 years now and have own my share of both camber and rocker decks. I’m allowed to enjoy what I want to ride without a condescending associate telling me my purchase doesn’t meet his approval.
No… I won’t be returning.

Did a Red Rocks tour from the Blue Diamond location. Was almost like a mountain biking clinic– the guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, very willing to customize the tour to our desires. The bikes were top notch, new mountain bikes. I believe one in our party also had a higher end demo bike. The bikes had already been set up with the type of pedals requested, etc. Gear was clean and in good condition.
This was all you could ask for and more for a mountain bike tour– highly recommended.

We were in looking at bikes for my daughter. Our sales guy was very helpful in fitting her for the right size bike and answered all of our questions. The only thing is that they only had the 1 bike for her size and she didn’t like it. Wish they had more to choose from for her.

I just came to Mcghie looking for some EFS liquid shot, bento box (no not food peeps!), and replacement part for my Gamin on my road bike. I have no idea comes too service department, or prices on bikes. I go different bike shop for those things. I never had desire too shop here cause heard bike shops around town Mcghie’s on the higher end. More negative feed backs come customer service. I must admit from the minute walked in felt welcome, warm greeting, and tried looked for bento box kind of lost first time in the store. I just went up asked one of the workers directed me to all three items that looking for and talking about different options came to each one. Very informative very helpful. I know not much since just two tie strings for my Garmin piece. They never charged me for it. Just the other week went back get more EFS liquid shot. Thought was cool the guy remember repeat customer talking about different flavor EFS kona mocha try next long ride. I like yay stuff pretty good hence back for more!!!
The little things not sure if cheap but quicker then getting it on line. Just short drive from my house. Not sure if make major purchase here terms of my next bike. Customer service thought was fabulous. They do have nice stock of bikes in store, lot of little things, and full service shop.

Wasn’t thinking I was going to buy a new road bike, but walked through the store and found the bike I’ve been wanting… in my size… at a very good sale price. As a very obviously drooled on the new bike, a sales person approached, and I got ready for the pitch. I very much dislike a high-​pressure sales approach, and that is not what I experienced.
Matthew was the perfect salesman and let the bike do the sale for him. After a couple test rides (that they encouraged, by the way) on a few bikes, my heart was set on one bike – done deal. Taking measurements from my previous bike, they started a fit session with the new one and dialed in the new bike very, very well – instant comfort. All included with the new bike.
The owner, Randy, came out to ensure I was happy with the process and purchase – unparalleled customer service and satisfaction. I drive away having gotten a new bike at a great price with zero buyers remorse.
After a month of riding, the bike is everything I wanted it to be (Pinarello Rokh), and I am about to take it in for the complimentary first month’s service. Despite some of the negative reviews on Unilocal,my experience was perfect and I will come back here for my future wheel, tire and more purchases even though they are across town from where I live. Very Highly Recommended!

So i got a new amazing Never Summer Infinity Snowboard and I NEED new bindings for it so I can use it for Tahoe over the weekend! I searched far and wide and Mcghie’s was my last stop. Should have been my first! I walked in and a sales associate helped me right away. I told him I needed new binding and they need to match — and I showed him a picture and he said he had bindings from last season that would totally work. He opened the box and showed me: Boom. DONE! I bought those bad boys right up and he asked if I had my board with me. I didn’t. But he said I should just come back and they would mount them for me.
I left and came back and another associate helped me — he mounted my bindings and gave me some snowboarding tips, even did a quick wax job and I was on my way!

For all the snow sports lovers, this is a perfect place to get a unique experience! They have tons of selections on snowboards, skis, bindings and experience expertise that will answer all your questions. Unlike REI or Sports Chalet, the staff here are warm and knowledgeable on all the sports gears they specialize in.
I have bought all my snowboard/​snow gears/​snow apparels from this place after searching for great deals and people who actually know what they are talking about. I went in a few days ago in search of new snowboarding pants and found out that they carry specialty sizes. Specialty sizes meaning, XXS; granted I can no longer fit into them but I was able to find an xs that fit perfect. REI here in Las Vegas doesn’s have much of snowboarding apparels available onsite and Sports Chalet have generic sizes. So it was nice to come into this quaint store and find something I like and fit. What’s even amazing was I had a gentleman employee who assist me in finding my pants… that was awesome!
After my selection of pants, I took the time to walk around the shop since it has been a year since I have been back, and they have a nice wide variety of snowboard selections and snowboard boots. Machine waxing for your board is $ 7 and iron wax is $ 20.00. Every time I visit this store, I am blown away from the the excellent customer service, quality gears and can’t hurt that all the male staff (even females) are cute and easy on the eyes… hahaha!

I will never go in to this store again. What a bunch of snobs! I went in to buy a mountain bike and needed to get all the extras as well. This was the only shop open at the time and I should have just walked out and waited but I was anxious.
This being my first real bike, I did mot know the correct size I needed. The snob worker only showed me one bike and said it was a perfect fit for me. How was I supposed to know? I trusted him. It turns out, it was too small for me and it was also the only bike they had in stock that day so that is why they sold it to me.
I did not realize it was too small until I was riding downhill and felt like I was on a children’s bike. I went to another bike shop to ask what size I should be using and they said much bigger than what I had. SHAME on you McGhie’s for selling me a $ 2,000.00 bike that is useless to me.
When I called to complain, I was treated like an idiot and again you were a bunch of snobs. Now I need to purchase another bike that fits me and I am stuck with this bike. What a waste of money. You will never get my business again or business from anyone that I know.

Given my lack of experience with ski/​bike/​board shops, it may be premature to claim McGhie’s to be as good as it gets. But having been there a couple of times, I contend that the praise is worthy.
I returned to McGhie’s to take advantage of their 50% off sale on all ski and snowboard gear (skis, boards, boots, and bindings). RJ was very knowledgeable and efficient in guiding me through my purchase. He said the boots are most important, so we started there. He wasted no time in measuring my feet and finding a very nice pair of Ride boots that would accommodate my wide feet. I actually wore them while we continued to shop to make sure they were completely comfortable.
The board was picked in equally efficient fashion. He pointed me directly to the Salomon board that I ended up purchasing, but he also gave me a couple of other options. I had several questions about board choice and RJ answered them all, giving me full confidence in his expertise. By the time it came to choose bindings, I just went with the Burton bindings that he recommended.
With the sale, I was hoping to be out the door for about $ 400. I actually ended up paying less than that with tax and I feel like I got quality equipment. I guess I’ll find out next season.

My fiancé bought a mountain bike from Mcghie’s and has since brought it back here for regular tune-​ups. I went with him on his last trip before he ended up selling the bike to a friend. We thought we were moving to Alaska, so we were parting with some possessions that weren’t going to make the trip. Um, now we aren’t going, but that’s another story…
Anyway, on the trips here I noted the store is very well set up and clean. As you enter you are more than often greeted by the sales staff. The bike maintenance area is in the back and you just have to wheel your bike back there to have it looked at/​worked on.
They were quick to bring up fiancé’s account and just as quickly took his bike back into their maintenance area and we were off and out the door. When we came back to pick it up, it was right there at the front, my fiancé thanked them and we were again, out the door quickly and efficiently.
I don’t know much about mountain bikes, skis, etc. But from what I have seen/​heard the service here is pretty top notch. My fiancé says he would definitely recommended the place as well.
