I’ve been seeing this guy since 1997. I called the office today to make an appointment and let them know that I might have an outstanding balance, and that I’d like to take care of it during the phone call. Apparently, my balance(which couldn’t have been more than $ 40) was sent to collections, and even though I’M ONTHEPHONE with the office and ready to pay, they can’t take a payment because my account is with a collections agency. Nor can they book me an appointment until it’s taken care of. Sixteen years I’ve been seeing this doctor faithfully, even when I didn’t have insurance, because he’s the best OB/GYN I’ve dealt with in Las Vegas. I have sung his praises to all my friends for years. Now, though, I’m over it. He’s excellent, but apparently his office policy is not. Shame.

We went here for a 10 am apt for the monthly check-up for the baby. We arrived at precisely 10:01 and signed in, the lady behind the desk said they are already about 30 mins behind. Really? you just opened at 9 and are already behind… We sit and wait, and wait… and wait, and wait and wait. Everybody that was in front of us went back and spent a few minutes behind the door. Finally at 11:15 they called our name, took the lady’s blood pressure and weight, and walked us to an empty room. Where we waited, and waited and waited… we could hear the doctor in his office talking on the phone about some email attachment that he lost and was trying to find again. We listened to him repeat himself for about 15 minutes, then I got fed up and went to the front desk and talked to the nice lady. I hadn’t said a word and she was already apologizing about the wait. It had nearly been two hours and we still hadn’t seen the Dr. She said she would go see if she can speed him up and get him in. She also mentions that the doctor didn’t even arrive at the office til 9:35 and he knows appointments start at 9. Five minutes later he walks in, asks how she has been feeling and if there is any news he needs to know about. We tell him things seem to be going ok, that the baby belly is growing and every once in awhile there’s some abdominal pain. He gets out the gel and the baby microphone and listens to the heartbeat for a few seconds and says, «the heartbeat is at a good pace, that’s healthy» and pokes around on her stomach for 5 seconds. We make small talk and he’s in and out in less than 4 minutes. By now it’s 11:50 and we’ve wasted an entire morning because he can’t get to the office on time and he wastes our time talking about some email on the phone. Awesome, a 2 hour wait for less than 5 minutes of attention. We shoulda just skipped this appointment and gone to brunch haha. Anyway, the Dr. does seem to be a really nice guy and obviously he knows what he’s doing when it comes to babies. But our experience was a pretty bad start to a day. We both left pretty annoyed but we are understanding to an extent, any longer and I might have blown up. The office is tiny and there’s only so many pregnant women and kids i can stand in a 10×10 waiting area with uncomfortable chairs and old beat up magazines that thousands of hands have touched, gross just thinking about it…
