Las Vegas Fish and Reptiles

Got a fish from the store yesterday and was told would be ok with the other fish we got from them but boy were we wrong. He was bullied to death so we were told to bring the dead fish back in but then were told that since the owner didn’t service our tank or acclimate the fish himself that all they would do is knock 10% off another fish. And they wanted to sell us a fish that they don’t know if it’s eating or even healthy yet. Since when do the owners of a store go to acclimate the fish they sell? I’ve been in this hobby for quite sometime and know what I’m doing but apparently that’s not good enough. Guess I’ll keep going to pisces instead as they take care of their clientele.

Just got a new Hydor 600 filter from LVF&R and I have to say this brand shocked me during the unboxing. HYDOR is well worth the switch from API, quality is amazing. If you need a new or bigger better filter absolutely go see what Jon recommends!

Went in a few months ago just to take a look around. Ended up buying a ball python and everything needed to take care of her. We have another snake at home so we new what we were getting into just to set up a new home for her. We took Bella home and as expected she did not feed her first week here. We didn’t worry as we new she might be adjusting to us and her new home. Since her first week here, she has never missed a meal and just did her first shed. She has turned out to be a perfect addition to our family. She goes on walks with us. She absolutely loves going to the park. She is a perfect snake.
The store is very convenient for us and we are here every two weeks buying food for our snakes. The employees are friendly and always ready to assist with our needs. One of the best things about this store is that ever time we have gone in there, there are employees cleaning out one thing or another. It seems they take good care of the reptiles they have and the cleanliness is much better than some of the other over crowded reptile shops in town.

Nice and clean. Good but small selections of fish and reptiles. The fish and corals were clean and very nice colors. Prices were great for their saltwater items. The only down fall is that there wasn’t much to pick from, but I would rather have that, than sick and overcrowded fish and corals.

Pretty pissed. Over the last few months spent $ 500 here. My largest purchase was a female Oustalet Chameleon and the setup for her just to find out that half of the stuff I bought per their advice was not what she needed according to the a local reptile vet (costing another $ 200) and verified by a local breeder. I saw her and feel in love admittedly she was an impulse buy and I have no business owning something that takes this much knowledge. However, as soon as I bought her I started my research. I was told that I needed to mist her once a day. There was a lone water dish included in the «all I need package» chameleons will only drink from moving water and if misting is the only water source for my girl it needs to be done at 5 – 6 times a day plus a drip system not included. They did give me a lamp and light but only one that gave out heat not the uvb rays she needs to survive. They also told me that I could handle her. Well you can’t handle chameleons if unless you want to live more than a year the stress kills them. I wasn’t told anything regarding their laying eggs regardless if she encounters a male. I was also told she would live 10 – 12 YEARS. Um no. I wouldn’t have bought her knowing any of this. So 1 of 2 conclusions here. They either wanted to sell animals more than they care about them or they don’t know their animals neither of which I want in my pet store. Also bought a puffer fish with 6 other fish. Can anyone tell me what happened? Oh yeah puffers eat other fish. I have spent $ 1000 buying the correct things for this chameleon and replacing fish/​buying an aquarium just for the puffer. Needless to say the 2 stars is an extra star for personally knowing an employee and wanting the business to survive.

«Fishies, Lizards, and Snakes, Oh My!»
A cool little pet store popped up in our area, so we decided to take a peek and see what they had. Run by a gentleman and a woman, their knowledge of fish and reptiles is very abundant (the woman had a collection of 150 snakes! She now has 50) so if you have any questions at all about investing in one of these cool critters about things like feeding and maintenance, they will be more than happy to set you up for ownership.
Aside from snakes, turtles, and lizards, they have a great assortment of beautiful saltwater and fresh water fish. Having raised Jackson Chameleons back home in Hawaii, their different species of Chameleons up front are one of my favorite sections. Don’t forget to take a look at the huge beautiful Panther Chameleon on the counter — he’s not for sale, but is the store’s mascot!
