Las Vegas-Clark County Library System – Windmill Library

I love this library. I have never experienced such a place that is well organized and easy to look around. I appreciate the story times during the day for the smaller children, and the craft nights for my older children. Plus side is I no longer have to rent movies for money, but just wait u il it is available to check out, or to reserve, and then I have a week to watch new release movies for free at my convenience.

A great resource for kids and those kids at heart. Location is safe and accessible. Parking is close by. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. They have a wide variety of books, DVDs, and comics/​magazines. My brothers love to rent their favorite manga here. They have an organized system of borrowing and returning of items. I can return books in the middle of the night without having to get out of my car! Restrooms are clean! They have auditoriums that you can rent for events. Unfortunately, their study rooms are not soundproof. or totally closed off at least. Hence, you can hear the gossips of people from the other room. It’s nice and quiet in the morning until the kids get off from school. But overall, i like this place. They have lots of activities and resources for kids. One major problem I had was the wifi access. It just would not connect with my laptop so I just gave up. :(

Nice library but the study rooms are useless. They are open at the top and are located next to the children’s section. You would think the noise would stop after you shut the door but all the children screams and sounds of playing are just as loud if not louder.
The upside the staff was very friendly and helpful.

My new favorite spot to study. I love the spacious and comfortable study area. They also have study rooms available for groups. The library is nice, clean and organized. I went on a Saturday and they have free movie around 1pm. It’s great for kids. My niece love the kids sections. A great place for kids to read and socialize!

Of all the libraries Las Vegas has to offer, this is definitely one of my favorites. Of course we love all the free stuff and activities the library has to offer but they have the BEST staff ever. I wish I knew all the staffs name but the one that. Stands out the most is TK. He is the most memorable, the sweetest, and helpful there. Thank you again so much for all your help that you do, for being so patient!

This is probably the nicest library in town. It’s big, spacious, bright, and clean. They’ve got a nice story time room and play area for the kids. Definitely my favorite library.

This location is close to our home so it’s usually where we go. Most of the time, we would just return and pick up books that was put on request, but we’ve stayed a few times for their story time.
The kids like the area where they can read and draw pictures, near the junior’s area.
The library is kept very clean and the employees are very helpful, I’ve had some trouble finding a book for my daughter and the employees walked us over to double check if the book was there. System said available, but the book wasn’t on the shelf, so he went searching for it and found it for us!

I love how spacious, clean, organized it is & environmentally friendly. It kind of reminds me of Spring Preserve’s design. I come here at least once a week because it’s super kid friendly. My 10 month old loves it here. They have fun toys & books. The ambience engenders you to be really creative w/​your imagination.
The people here are really friendly & ready to assist you.
They have a good selection of books, movies & CDs.
You can use their computers. There’s a couple of copy machines. They have movie days. I went there today & they were collecting food for 3square food drive. You can purchase used books & there’s a vending machine & case you lose tract of time & need a snack.
I love looking at the art. It feels really welcoming. Their return system is easy & convenient to use. If you have an overdrive app on your phone, this library accommodates w/​that as well.

This is my second time to this library and I have to say it is the nicest one I have been too. It’s one of the newer libraries located in Las Vegas and is of a large size. I usually go to Enterprise Library but come here every once in awhile because my daughter loves it. Once you walk in you can see that it is maintained well. It’s very roomy inside.
They have a area for teen reading and a children’s book area. They also have plenty of study areas with plenty of tables and a good amount of computers. What I have also noticed are study rooms but you will have to check for yourself if you have to reserve those or not. I pretty much stick to the children’s area though. The children’s area is stocked with puppets, puzzles, blocks and more.
I have not been here too many times but I’m sure they have reading programs available. If you do plan to visit this library make sure to either check what programs they offer online or just ask one of library assistants. I’m sure they’ll be happy to assist you.

Free movies! The auditorium is a great space and with over 300 seats there is plenty of room. They show movies on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

The Windmill Library is one of the newest in the Las Vegas-​Clark County Library System. It is a beautiful building both inside and out.
I came here yesterday for a play being performed in their auditorium. The auditorium is large with comfortable seats that all have side boards for lifting up and putting in place to take notes if you were at a meeting or lecture. The auditorium is directly to your right as you come in the front door.
After the play, I looked around the library to spend some time in their art gallery and to see the book area. The book area is open and filled with light. It’s a very nice space.
The only question I had was the entrance. Parking is both east and west of the main entrance to accommodate the double driveway with its book return area. It seems like a waste of some extra parking spaces but then I’m not an architect nor traffic planner.
On leaving, you can only make a right on Windmill from the area of the lot I left and there’s no u-​turn allowed when the island ends. Instead, I went a little more west and made a U well past the no U turn sign. Oops, Metro cars returning to their headquarters across the street from the library. They didn’t see me. I guess the shift was over.
Check this library out if you’re in the area. It is a gem!
Note: The free wifi didn’t seem all that active and I finally turned it off.

I love this library! It’s brand spankin’ new (well at least feels like it). It’s beautiful and has large windows! I would give it 5 stars but they don’t allow food/​drinks and in my opinion, there’s not enough study tables. But other than that, when it’s not busy, I always get a chair in the back with the single desk. It’s very comfy and quiet and a great place for me to focus and study. They also have group desks that are really cool because they have build in plugs! I really enjoy going here. It’s super close to my boyfriend’s house as well as my workplace so it’s awesome when I don’t want to drive all the way to the Lied Library. Definitely a place I would recommend to study with friends!

Bright and open layout make this a very inviting library. Several spaces for the kiddos to read and play, and abundant table space for everyone. Free wifi is swift and the ebook collection is huge.
Another reviewer stated that books are not organized by subject… this is not true. Everything here is organized by subject. I have no idea where they were. :P

I like this library because it’s actually the closest one to me. They have a huge & wide parking lot so unlike the Spring Valley library, a close parking spot is quite easy to find. From the outside, it looks like a large library but upon entering, you’ll find that it’s mostly children’s books and felt, to me, like a children’s library. Also, when you enter, it looks like only half the building contains the books. The one thing I do like is there little section of books you can buy, just like any other library, I think that’s my favorite. I really only come here to drop off books or pick up books that I’ve requested online.

This library is amazing. I love that they have a performing arts stage. The toddlers & babies area is wonderful. The selections are great, too. 4 stars because the snack area is too small. A couple moms with strollers and no can do. Used book selection for purchase is good.

Such a quiet place. The kids (13 and 9) both love coming to this library. It’s bright and airy. They also offer FREE Wi-​Fi. And it’s actually pretty fast.
We’ve been coming here for the last 2 years. Staff is super friendly and are available to help you when you need it.
Outside of the «library» area are books for sale and a refreshment area. Bring cash/​change. We’ve found some great book deals here. Some of the books were hardly read! Better than the Goodwill Book — price wise.

Okay, so this place has a LEED rating. Awesome. Moving on.
As far as libraries, this building looks absolutely enormous from the outside. When I told my sister that I was at the library, she said, «Wait, that’s a library? I thought that was an office building.»
Once you get inside, as others have noted, the library portion is a fairly small portion of the building. Once, a long time ago, I vaguely remember an art gallery, but when I went back a few days ago, I couldn’t find it. According to Unilocal,my mind is not playing tricks on me, somewhere there is art, I just am not sure where.
After school, or on the crazy off chance that it is raining (it does happen!) the library is PACKED with kids. In my old age, (mid twenties) I can’t tell if these kids are middle schoolers or high schoolers, but whatever. They keep to themselves in the computer area designated for school aged kids only. I guess that’s cool that you can be «too old» to use certain computers in the library.
There’s a little tiny «shop» right outside of the main inner entrance to the library and I’ve picked up some DVDs on sale for $ 2 there (Harold & Kumar’s White Christmas, an obvious timeless classic, was one of these DVDs.)
Whenever I have books that I want to get rid of and I can’t get rid of them on
, I just take a giant box of them down here to donate. No questions asked, unless you count, «would you like a tax deduction form for your donation?»
I like their checkout system as everything has an RFID chip in it and your library card requires a PIN. I don’t think that’s specific to this branch, but it makes checking out a breeze.
Talking to the librarians is cool. When you get them talking, they’re a bit irrevrant when it comes to the subject of people just not being able to handle the whole checking stuff out process. It’s funny.
In general, this place is pretty ok in my book.

The clean, open, and comfortable

library was so accommodating
to kiddies and parents
alike that I found myself
lounging with my little one.

as well as a love of books

This library is a great place to settle down and get some work done! There is plenty of parking spaces and the outside is very clean. The library is opened every day except for holidays.
Upon entering, there is a board of events that they host in the lounge area. This library has a very big emphasis on family. There is also a small art gallery and vending machines with drinks and snacks on the side. The restrooms are also located in the lounge area and are well kept.
Upon entering the actual library are several help desks with individuals who are ready to help you out. There are many tables and small «reclining desk» chairs along the windows. There is a teen computer lab as well as an adult computer lab. Did I mention they have free wifi if you bring your laptop? I believe they also have laptops available to rent for the duration of your visit. There are also study rooms available if you ask the people at the desk.
They offer 4 private study rooms that include a whiteboard and markers which is perfect for group projects. The one thing I don’t like about them is the lack of ceiling in those rooms so you can hear everyone outside and vice versa.
They have a vast collection of books and articles to read there, just ask for help when searching for something specific. As I mentioned earlier, all in all it’s a great place to focus on work without getting distracted by the television or other entertainment devices.
