LAKA Manicure Express

I would definitely go back when I am back in LV. First, you must realize, the name appropriately describes the services you are getting. This is not a spa or salon, but exactly what the name says, a quick place to get a mani/​pedi.
We were staying at Wynn and I didn’t have time to get a mani/​pedi before I left for vacay. My nails looked awful and I needed to get them done quickly without spending a fortune at the salon at the hotel. I found this place on Unilocal.
It is not a large place, but they make it work, and all of the techs there were very professional, accommodating and friendly. I got a pedicure and gel manicure and they looked exactly as they would have looked if I went to the salon at the hotel.
My tech also gave me great advice on things to see and directed me to some «non-​touristy» places in the area that were definitely worth the trip, that I never would’ve known about.
All in all, it’s a unique concept and you’ll leave there with a good experience and professional mani/​pedi.

Cute little chair stand in the middle of the mall. The tech was super nice and professional although they ran one hour late. Tight surrounding with a divided table but professional and nice two ladies. My nails look nice!

So the fact this place is a KIOSK in the middle of the mall with no water tubs rubbed me the wrong way in the first place. What really did it was the fact the nail tech was buffing away at my toes and was doing it so hard that she took off my skin and I was bleeding!!! Finally she noticed what she did and then kept putting stuff on it to control the bleeding but it was burning and burning badly with whatever the hell she was using. She was apologetic but an apology doesn’t bring back my skin.
I did give a star for the fact that there was a check-​in gift of a free nail polish and a good selection of colors. The nail tech was nice overall but still didn’t help the experience.
Overall I’d say it’s very overpriced for what you’re getting and the fact that I’ve lost skin and blood is a bit ridiculous so I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone or come back.

I debated whether I should write this review because the girls working at Laka were so nice, but this was by far the worst manicure I’ve ever had. At $ 25, Laka is the cheapest manicure in the neighborhood — it’s is a kiosk at the mall, and their polish is mostly Laka brand. I liked their colors, but as soon as the girl doing my manicure started, I knew it’d be a problem. She was very slow and didn’t seem very experienced. There was polish all over my fingers, and the second coat starts about a centimeter below the first coat, so there’s a weird line of polish and uneven color on all my nails. When she started on the top coat, I noticed the bottle must’ve been pretty old because it was stringy and goopy. She just sort of globbed it on without covering my nail, which also smudged it. I pointed it out a few times and she didn’t seem to know what I was talking about.
This place is fine in a pinch of no one is going to be standing too close to you after to notice. Otherwise I’d go pay more or drive off the strip to find somewhere better.

I came in from our of town and was able to get an affordable manicure quickly and we’ll done. Thank you Rosilie ;)

This is by far the worst nail salon I have been to. I got a full set of acrylics and within 2 days the nail polish started to come off as well as the acrylics lifting off. I expect way more for something I paid $ 90 for. Poor service and quality.

I had to fix the disastrous pedi I got from
so I called an hour before closing on Friday to make an appointment for Saturday and they fit me in at my desired time for a shellac mani pedi.
I arrived 15 minutes late and they said they just accepted someone but would be able to fit me in for my mani and perhaps my pedi if I waited 20 minutes. Gratefully, I accepted. As I was waiting I admired the work of the ladies there – everyone seemed to be getting good work done and I was drawn to one girl in particular.
I decided to see if I could have my pedi done the next day instead and the receptionist took care of it and – I have no idea why but didn’t want to ask in case she changed her mind – said she’d also give me a 10% discount for my pedi.
5 minutes before they were ready for me, the receptionist helped me select my colour. I always know what colour I want but they didn’t have it so she suggested layering two different colours plus sparkle to achieve the effect. I agreed.
When it was my turn, I was happy to see I got Nicole, the girl whose work I was eying as I waiting. She immediately made me comfortable with her easygoing, genuine, and warm manner. All the ladies I spoke with there had good attitudes, as well. The shaping and colour turned out exactly as I instructed. It was relaxing and fun! The only reasons I can’t give a perfect score are the compact nature of the place and a piece of equipment that could use a tune up (that I’m told is on order to be replaced).
(Funny thing: when I showed Nicole the work I was getting fixed on my feet, she said the girl from Beauty Lounge in Vancouver [Cindy] must have used old polish if after showering it changed to a yellowish discolouration that would make people who know better think I have nail fungus! Definitely not the award-​winning standards Cindy likes to boast about. Thankfully, Nicole fixed it.)

Cute, fun girls who try to do a good job. Would go back. It’s a bit pricey for what you get but the girls are willing to answer any questions you have and let you try out different colors!

TERRIBLE! Look at the picture! Would you pay $ 72 for this? I could have done my nails myself. My nail polish is all over my skin on some nails. I expressed my disappointment and the nail tech said, «gel manicures take differently in different people.» Well, do all gel manicures have polish all over your skin? Ugh!

Cute idea, nails on the go. Great customer service. A little pricey for a gel manicure. $ 10.00 to take off previous gel. I received my free nail polish for checking in on Unilocal.My nail tech (forgot her name but she was Asian with a 4 year old daughter) was great and personable. She knew what she was doing. Fast service and good conversation. I would go back!

DONT BELIEVE THE GOOD REVEIWS!!! They bribe you with free nail polish etc., to do reviews for them and they over look the reviews after. They are an express nail place so I expected fast and a good job on my nails. Well they weren’t fast and my nails were ok with several visible flaws. The girls working seems unconcerned and just generally lethargic. They didn’t even try to chat with my while doing my nails. The list price for a gel manicure was about 32, this made me very surprised when my bill was 56. I guess they charge extra for glitter if I would have know I would have declined. This so called manicure didn’t include anything but cutting my cuticles I fell robbed by this company and don’t recommend going to them to anyone.

I’m from out of town visiting for my 21^st birthday and decided to stop and get my nails done by the ONLY nail place in that mall. The price listed was 36 for 15min. I was there for around 30 – 40 min and I ended up having to pay 59. I feel completely scammed in California I would have paid 32 including tip. The girl however did spend a descent amount of time doing my nails and they were done decently. Biggest problem with them is in order to get the check in gift (nail polish) you have to check in and write a review including the name of the girl that worked on you. If your going to force Unilocal reviews you better have fantastic services and honest pricing.

NAILS DON’T DRY. Don’t be fooled by all the positive comments! They give you a free nail polish if you write a review.
We had to go back THREE times to get my mums nails redone. Customer service was great but the quality of work is quite poor. It’s uneven, has air bubbles, I even found a hair in my polish, and the polish doesn’t dry properly or they don’t give it enough time to. If you read other reviews, these are very common problems at Laka.
You’re better off paying twice as much at a spa and getting it done right. I got gel over a french manicure by Kim, mine dried but started peeling and cracking by day 2. By day 3, I had to remove it, it looked horrible. I hadn’t been doing dishes, swimming, or soaking in a jacuzzi. There was no reason for them to fail so quickly. Not to mention, even if I had dove all of those things it shouldn’t of failed that quickly anyhow! A good manicure lasts at LEAST a week.
The girls didn’t fully seem to know what they were doing, mine kept asking what to do next or if it was dry, etc.
My mom got gel over regular nail polish and within 30 minutes or less noticed they were smudged. That was the FIRST time we went back to Laka. They were more than happy to fix them, we were relieved as we thought it was an honest mistake. But within the hour the same thing happened. We had left back to our hotel so we couldn’t go right back. My mum was over it at that point, she barely wanted to go back the first time but I convinced her to go back to Laka the next day for the SECOND time and she got all gel nail polish that time. It dried the first day and was great (all the sparkles hid any imperfections, I’m assuming that’s why all the girls had sparkle gel nail polish). By the second day her nails were peeling on the sides and on top. By the third day they gathered dirt underneath and we’re looking horrible.
She had to go back a THIRD time to a proper NAIL SALON and get them removed and redone. I can only imagine how damaged her hands must be after all this work all within less than a week!
Our nails should of lasted WEEKS. But they didn’t even last half a week.
Super disappointing.
I came back to edit my review. I hope everyone else who experienced anything similar will do the same. People rely on Unilocal to get honest reviews about businesses.
Unless they properly train their employees or actually hire people with training I’m never going back. It doesn’t seem like they do either of those things. It looks as if they do basic training after hiring and these girls never worked at a salon before Laka.
Very elementary skills. Girls are very friendly and sweet. They really were pleasant, unfortunately they just weren’t skilled enough.
We were so happy to finally find a salon that charged reasonable rates in Vegas, but unfortunately it seems you get what you pay for.

This was a great experience for me! I was in the middle of the mall and in need of a pedicure/​manicure. The ladies were very friendly and helped get me in quickly. Saundrea was very caring and definitely didn’t make me feel rushed at all during the process! :) She’s so friendly & fun to chat with! I highly recommend Saundrea and LAKA for a fast, easy, and friendly service!

HORRIBLE service, would never recommend it to anybody and trust me I know several models in town with whom I work with and will pass on the word to not go to this place. Word of mouth and social media spreads like fire.
It was one bad thing after another. I called to make an appointment ¹⁰⁄₃₀ and mentioned I had purchased a Groupon deal. When I get there ¹⁰⁄₃₁ for my appointment to the «salon» which is a tiny kiosk at a mall (not a proper salon), the receptionist reprimands me for not having the deal printed out and informs me that they only work on costumers with Groupons during certain hours and I was not there during that time frame. She then agrees to make an exception clarifying they will never do that again (Yes because I am not spending a penny more on that place). I show her the email on my phone with the deal number which she could have written down like they do in other businesses, but no, she made me download the app and redeem the coupon right there… ok fine. So while I wait for the technician that was going to do my nails she has a quick meeting with staff talking about Groupons and costumers (me as an example, you can tell when someone talks about you).
A little while later, nail technician informs me that the deal that I had bought, the $ 32 package did not include cutting or working on my cuticles. That this is $ 10 extra. I say don’t do it then. The gel style that I choose is a black french manicure ($ 5 extra) for which she only colors the tip of my nail. French manicure anywhere else is of 2 colors the base color which is a pinkish or nude polish plus the tip. I call her out on this and she applies a pinkish base. Work wasn’t done well, today I have blobs of extra nail polish on the sides of my nails, a couple stains, an air bubble, she didn’t properly remove my other nail polish, not a good job at all. I tipped the nail technician though because if you don’t tip even if service is horrible, you are going to get yelled at.
After seeing all this I immediately cancelled a pedicure appointment I had made over the phone. Now I’m re-​reading the Groupon deal I bought which suposedly included: $ 32 for one gel manicure package ($ 58 value) Both packages include: * Cuticle treatment and cuticle shaping (DIDN’T GET IT) * Hand exfoliation and massage (DIDN’T GET IT) * Maximum growth coat (NOT SURE IF I GOT IT)* Take-​home bottle of Laka nail polish (GOT IT BECAUSE I ASKED FOR IT– WASN’T OFFERED. And in their description: «Technicians work quickly without sacrificing the quality of their craft (NOT TRUE– THEY DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB)… During appointments, nail artists exfoliate dead skin with cleansing quartz crystal scrubs, massage hardworking hands with vitamin-​rich cream (NOT TRUE, I DID NOT HAVE MY SKIN EXFOLIATED, HAND CREAM OR MASSAGE, NOT EVEN THE CUTICLES CUT!!) … After soothing massages and precision shaping and filing, (THERE WAS NO MASSAGE, ONLY SHAPING AND FILING AND PAINT. PERIOD).
Waste of money!!! Now I will go have to go and pay somewhere else to have this defective gel manicure removed and get a proper one at a proper salon where they do tend to and appreciate their costumers, not make them feel inadequate. Again, this is a perfect example of small business desperately trying to lure in local costumers but at this rate I doubt people will go back. Why go here if you can go to a salon in your neighborhood?! Purchasing a deal isn’t equivalent to getting bad service, on the contrary they should do a great service so they win a new happy costumer. Apparently Laka Manicure Express only thinks about making a buck today, not on building a loyal, local costumer base.

They’re quick alright, but doesn’t mean they’re good at it. My gel started to peel off two of my fingers from a couple weeks ago and I needed a quick fix before I had work so I came here, worst decision ever. I felt I should have just waited the night and go to my usual. To fix my two nails it costed my 15 $ with my local discount and tip. $ 15!!! My FULL set of gel only costed me $ 24!
Since I’m paying more than I should, I expected my nails to be perfect. At least they had the same nail polish I used before. Anyways, I sat down and she just started to paint my nails. After my gel peeled off my nails were very bumpy and I guess she didn’t notice that so after two coats of color it was done. Looking at it, it was visibly uneven, bumpy and just ugly. I told her to fix it, initially I’d think to take off the gel completely, but instead she files the top of my nails to smooth it out and repaints it with another two coats. At that point I was done, I stupidly chose to pay before instead of after and I get a horrible service.
After I left, I noticed she made to look like I paid for two week old nails, cause she started the polish where my the gel peeled off. I mean I guess, she tried to blend it? My nails looked like I did it at home, actually I could have done a better job at home.
In the end, save your money and go off the strip.
P. S. I got this done late Friday afternoon and the photo was taken today, Saturday morning. And it just started to peel after I showered. LESS THAN 24 HOURS!!! GREAT JOB LAKA
