Mr. Matsuda was offered an athletic scholarship and attended Chaminade University in Hawai’i, graduating with degrees in Criminal Justice and English. While at Chaminade, Mr. Matsuda was a four year letter winner, team captain of the Cross Country team and he competed each year at the NCAA Division II Regional Championships. He was also elected treasurer of the Student Athlete Advisory Board, he was the co-​editor of Chaminade’s literary journal and made the Dean’s List multiple times.

After college, Mr. Matsuda attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School located in Lansing, Michigan. In law school, Mr. Matsuda was involved in numerous activities and received multiple awards and certificates. He was a member of the Public Interest Law Society Association, Advanced Mediation Group and Moot Court.
