I must say, when I received the mail out that my health insurance Humana was putting in a local office I was pretty happy. Let’s be honest, who wants to spend an hour plus of their life on hold waiting to talk to a representative in Kentucky? It seems that overtime I need a rep, Humana is closed! Today I made the trek over to the local Humana to get new insurance cards because I misplaced mine during a move. It is located right next to whole foods which is nice. My first impression was strange. The place looks more like a cluttered community center than an insurance office. They did have a variety of coffees and flavored waters… But I wasn’t there to consume coffee, I wanted to come in for my cards and leave. There was a tv, puzzles, books, ect. They obviously are trying to capture the medicare clientele that live in Summerlin. Apparently Humana feels the elderly needs free coffee rather than a live person to answer the phone when they call or benefits that pay out in a timely fashion. Personally, when it comes to healthcare, I want fast service and for them to pay my medical claims… Not free coffee and yoga classes. When I call, I want a REALLIVE person to answer for my $ 120 a month. I don’t need a place to do a puzzle. Once the customer care rep was free, guess what I needed to do to get replacement cards??? He handed me the phone to call the home office… What is the point of this office if they cant even service existing clients??? I then sat on hold for 15 minutes(just as I would have if I were at home) and they faxed me the copies. All in all, I was there 30 minutes. If you want an insurance provider that supplies coffee and free yoga classes for $ 120 a month but probably wont pay your medical claims, Humana is for you! I personally have officially confirmed I am canceling as soon as my company benefits kick in and I will never return to Humana. Their priorities and marketing strategies are messed up! I should have tried the free yoga. Maybe I wouldn’t feel so ripped off that I pay $ 120 a month for useless benefits that don’t have a Gyno on their list that is currently accepting new clients.
