Description

Specialties

The Hard Hat is one of Las Vegas’ classic bars as it was built in 1962. There is a full bar open 24 hours daily, gaming, and a restaurant with excellent cuisine.

The Hard Hat was completely renovated in the summer of 2013. The décor was improved and a state-of-the-art sound system was added to accommodate the DJs, bands, and other events which occur most nights of the week. Check our website for details. The Hard Hat is the place to be for after-First Friday with partying going on into the wee hours of the morning!

History

Established in 1962.

Part of the Hard Hat building was constructed in 1962, and then the building was added on to a few years later. In the past, the HH catered to the construction trade in the downtown corridor. Over the years, as the economy has gone through changes, the clientele has changed as well.

One of the most prominent features of the Hard Hat is the hand painted mural in the back bar area. Painted in the early 1960’s by Frank and Vicky Bowers, the folklore is that the Bowers were lushes and the painting was done to satisfy a bar tab run up by Frank. The mural is done in florescent acrylics and is displayed under black light to bring out the bright colors. It is loaded with details and depicts a scene from a saloon in the old west. Regular patrons to the Hard Hat remark that despite gazing upon the mural for hours and hours, they see some new detail in it every time they come in.
