When I think of Downtown Las Vegas, I think of art and music. Location is ghetto but walking through the graffiti art gallery made me realize how underrated the art culture is in Vegas. Just walk around and look at all the artwork, it’s free! You can find artwork in every corner. Be mindful that there are some weirdos walking around. Luckily I have a pepper spray with me at all times plus was fully aware of my surroundings. Parking is kind of tricky in the area but you will find free parking here and there. Too dope. Go around 2−4PM, you get the perfect lighting!

They say, «Vegas doesn’t have any culture.» Actually, that was me. I’ve said that. But as of these last few years, I’ve been surprised to find that it’s gradually being cultivated. This graffiti art walk is a great example. I don’t know much about the history and culture of graffiti, but I still found the walk beautiful and interesting. The colors are vibrant, the pieces unique, and the surrounding area downtown just adds to its allure. Great plus is, it’s free!

So dope of Steve F. to add this as a «business»! These walls are curated by local legend Ras One, member of Zulu Nation, former owner of Pop2(i think that’s what it was called), activist, and Hip-Hop culture/element aficionado/supporter. The walls are updated about twice a year for the graf shows«Meeting of Styles» and«Midnight Marauders». It is so inspiring to watch all the artists, who come from far and wide, while they work on their pieces for 2−−3 days. You can catch some KILLER pieces from writer legends and people who are working on their own legend. Once the walls are done, it’s good to revisit the walls every so often with a fresh pair of eyes. You may catch something you never noticed before. With the exception of the Mear One piece a few years back, most pieces are respected and never tagged over by dumb fools. If you haven’t seen them, go check out these beautiful works of hip-hop culture ta-day! This is a copy & paste review from the previously misspelled«Graffitti Art Gallery Alley». The only thing that has changed is that there hasn’t been a «Meeting of Styles» or «Midnight Marauders» for awhile. But the murals change frequently, and if you go down there during the day, you may be able to catch and meet the artists. You can also stop at Main Source, the shop that supplies a lot of the spray cans, and say what’s up.

One of the Largest galleries in the city, this thought provoking art provides a backdrop to many videos, fashion shoots, and overall enjoyment of the area. The changing art provides highly relevant content and the master arts still have some works here if you look hard enough. Don’t miss this attraction when you are in the 18b arts district.

I put the address of 1500 S Main, but this really starts in the alley just behind(to the west) of that address, and continues north to almost Charleston Ave. This alley full of graffiti art/street art and I have admired it a several times. Thought I would not keep it a secret any longer. If you are a fan of graffiti art(not tagging), this might be worth a look-see. I just think it’s kind of cool that this has taken root and is certainly an improvement to random taggers that also lurk in the area. This makes for an interesting diversion as you explore the arts district of Las Vegas. So while meandering in the area, visiting Retro Vegas, Casa Don Juan, Medusa’s Antiques & Collectibles, Velveteen Rabbit, Makers and Finders, Hop Nuts Brewing, or The Arts Factory, take a little detour into what I call Graffiti Art Gallery Alley. No set hours, it’s there all the time, and it’s free. Just hit the alley that parallels Main St and Commerce, and starts at Utah St. to the south and and ends just before Charleston to the north. Take a stroll, a slow drive, or bike ride and experience an unexpected side of Las Vegas.
