Specialties
Girls Rock Vegas is dedicated to empowering young women through music creation and performance. We strive to create a supportive community of peers and mentors, offer leadership opportunities and encourage social change.
History
Established in 2009.
Girls Rock Vegas began in March 2009 as a project to teach girls to play musical instruments and write original songs. We held our first summer camp for girls in June 2009. Following camp, in the fall of 2009, we began to offer after-school music education programs for girls at Elaine Wynn Elementary School and Dr. C. Owen Roundy Elementary School. In March 2010, Girls Rock Vegas was inducted as a full affiliate of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, which includes over 30 Girls Rock programs in the United States and Europe.
Girls Rock Vegas held our second camp in June 2010. Attendance at camp tripled over 2009. In the Fall of 2010, Girls Rock Vegas renewed its partnership to provide after-school programming with Clark County School District and the Greater Las Vegas After-School All-Stars. To date, Girls Rock Vegas has brought the gift of music to over two hundred young people in the Las Vegas valley.
