Description

Specialties

Foster Kinship offers free family social services to individuals who are raising their relative’s children in Clark County, NV. We provide services to all regardless of caregiver age or the custody status of the children.

History

Established in 2012.

Foster Kinship believes that when parents are no longer willing or able to be parents, children have the best chance of long-term success when they maintain ties with their biological family, entering into a kinship care arrangement. In most cases, when a parent becomes unable to raise their child due to death, incarceration, substance abuse, neglect or other traumatic circumstance, we believe that keeping children as close to their biological family is preferable to living with a stranger.

However, these relatives who step in to raise the child may not be prepared for the unexpected burden of raising a child or children, and any governmental aid provided is usually not enough. Foster Kinship seeks to close these gaps with support groups, resource direction, advocacy, classes for caregivers, respite care, and family activities.

Foster Kinship is a new organization, incorporated as a nonprofit in the state of NV in December 2011. Foster Kinship is a Tax Exempt organization (501©(3)
