Department of Motor Vehicles – DMV

So… As im sure you have all realized by this point… This is the DMV. With that being said, you should expect to wait.
The good news is, waiting here is comfortable. I came two days in a row Friday at 4:15PM and Saturday at 8:30AM.
My Friday Visit: I came to get information on registering my out of state vehicle and getting a NV license. I waited in like approx 15−20mins. I walked up to my attendant with a smile & she returned the courtesy. She gave me most of the info I needed & I was on my way. I was really impressed with how quickly I was in and out.
My Saturday Visit: I needed a smog check (done directly across the street for $ 20, took less than 5mins) and an on site inspection (took 2mins) so i didn’t actually get in line until about 8:30AM. The line was wrapped around the building. I was intimidated but it literally only took 30mins to get to the front. I approached the attendant with a smile and again she returned the courtesy. I told her what I was there for & confirmed that I had all the correct documents. The only difference in info was that she informed me that I would have to pay my former states late reg. fees, whereas the first attendant said I would not. That wasn’t a big deal for me… So I gave her my cell number went to wait.
What I really liked about this place is the fact that they have a ⁷⁄₁₁ style snack bar! And they text you updates on where you are in line so you can leave and come back if you’d like. Another thing Im noticing, theres ample seating and no kids running around (either visit) and this AM the bathrooms were clean. The total process has taken about 1.5hours until this point and I should be out of here in 10−15more minutes. Very doable, especially for the DMV.

They were very nice and helpful to me. I like how they text you updates on your phone now. They should add duplicates to the machines. Over all a good experience!

Maybe I always go on a good day? The couple times I went here this past month had me in and out in less than 30mins. I was like wow! I had myself ready for like a 2 – 3 hour wait, so I was pretty surprised, it was way less than what I expected.
I admit, some of the staff are snob and rude, I was lucky enough to had dealt with the friendly ones when I was there.

Would put zero stars if I could. went up there for the 2^nd time and was told something completely different than I was the first time. Waited outside in the cold for an hour and got yelled at by an old lady who was clearly a disgruntled worker about not bringing a certain document. I told her the last girl told me to bring a different form. Left AGAIN with getting nothing done. This place is a fuckin joke.

Every time I go there the line is literally around the building! I am thankful I am able to do everything online and don’t have to go stand in that mess and waste an entire day doing nothing!

Special mention to kim who was more than accommodating, a prime example of what a dmv employee should be…
Dont be misled by the long line you see when you get there, theres gonna be a line, if the place hasn’t opened yet…
Soon as the place opened everyone was quickly accommodated…
There’s a small cafeteria inside in case you wanna get cozy, but the quick dash system which will literally text you when your turn is coming up gives you the opportunity to do some quick groceries…
Having gone early my number was called pretty quickly, and the process itself took around 3 hours tops, that includes a test pictures waiting and paying fees
The diamond in the ruff as some may consider the place to be is really kim who was the sweetest accommodating dmv official i have ever met, she wasn’t rushing nor did she mind answering my silly questions…

I took my parents to this location to get their drivers license renewed. We were able to get a number quickly because my dad is handicapped. We got forms to fill out and they said our number would get called in 10 minutes. Within 2 minutes of sitting down our number was called but unfortunately my parents didn’t have their forms filled out. However the lady was nice and said to just fill it out and she will call us after she is done with the next person. That next person took forever but then she called us back up about 15 – 20 min later. Her name is Agnes. She is from Austria and has a strong accent. She was very very nice and friendly, smiling and talking the entire time with us about other things while she was processing the renewals. She is probably the nicest person I have dealt with at a DMV. We were done within an hour which isn’t bad at all.

Imagine Omnia, XS, and Marquee nightclubs on their grand opening night. Waiting in line and getting into those clubs would probably be easier and faster.
Before the DMV’s opening at 8 am, hundreds of people were already lined up outside in the blazing sun; the dripping sweat off some of them were the only thing ‘cool’ about being here. You might even mistake this setting for the next new iPhone release day.
Once you make it inside the building, a maze of lines fitting for an adventure in Wonderland still awaits you. I’m pretty sure this is an Inception spin-​off where I’m just in a line-​within a line-​within a line.
At least the workers here are putting a smile on their faces. I’ll throw a 2^nd star for that. Too bad I wasn’t allowed to renew my license online. Next time, I’ll pitch a tent and camp it overnight.

When is there anything ever good to say about the dreaded DMV…
I will say that this locations line went a lot faster than the other dmv I went to. I was also better informed here of everything I needed to attain for registering my car.

This is very Unfortunate. I hear they’re nolonger are doing the dash pass. I can’t imagine nor do I want to. Ugghh. Vegas.
Apparently the reason was people were not showing up for allotted apt times. If they had any idea the headache this place is, I can’t see someone purposely noT showing up for appointment.
I hope in time they will reconsider this. It literally saves you waiting at dmv for half a day.

When you first go in, you have to go through the information line. You have to talk to someone and tell them what you need. IT IS THEIR JOB TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN AND WAIT 2 HOURS TO BE CALLED. I went in for a seasonal ID. The guy at the information desk DID NOT TELL ME THAT I HAD TO HAVE MY MARRIAGE LICENSE. After waiting FOREVER, and I was finally called up to the desk, the guy asked for my marriage license (along with my other documents). I did not have it, so therefore could NOT ACCOMPLISH WHAT I CAME IN FOR. The guy at the information desk (white man, long red hair ponytail) was absolutely the rudest person ever!!! I wanted so bad to smack the hell out of him but this is the DMV and they have the upper hand and you have to kiss their butt!

WARNING! The numbers being reported on the Nevada DMV website for «Customers Waiting In Line» at this location are vastly incorrect. Earlier it showed 35 people waiting but when I went there the line was out the freaking door. Nevada DMV, please fix this and stop misleading the public by reporting false numbers. I should have known better.

If I could give a negative number I would. This place is an F’ING joke. I just wasted FOUR HOURS OF MY TIME THAT I WILL NEVEF GET BACK sitting there only to find out that my number got deleted from the system. And NO I did not miss my number because who wants to sit in a damn dmv all day. There needs to be a better check in system something more streamlined then this damn texting system. I am so livid right now because now I have to come back here for a THIRD time just to get my stinkin DL renewed. The joys and privileges of being able to drive…

Ghetto looking inside, old dated and packed but service was fast (somewhat). Need more electrical outlets to charge phones and laptops … It’s 2015!

this new dash pass feature is genius! no more waiting around all day in that stuffy place! go run your errands, get text updates to find out when your turn is coming up.
just a heads up, don’t wait til the last minute or the text that lets you know your next. check for status updates and head there at least 20ppl ahead of you so you have enough time to get in there, look for the right window keep it moving.

I really appreciate the DMV’s recent attempts to improve service, but it has a way to go. DON“T EVEN THINK OF GOING TO THE DMV WITHOUT USING DASH PASS!
I tried signing up before 10am on a Monday and the two locations closest to me had already shut down Dash pass. I ended up picking this location, because driving further still beat the 3 hour wait for walk ins at Decatur or Flamingo.
By 2:30 I was worried that I hadn’t received any updates. Even though I had entered my cell and my email, there was no easy way to get a status update. When I finally did I drove over only to see an enormous line snaking out the door — no way those poor people would be seen before closing and that is why I say don’t go without using Dash Pass. The actual process worked smoothly once I figured out that I had to keep texting the office before I would get an update.
Hopefully they will work out the bumps soon

The text «m» part needs to go.
Apparently texting «m» gives that person more time which only pushes Everyone behind them back. Went at 9am and was pushed back until 5am.
I’d rather get a paper ticket and wait for 3 hours.

Review Summary

The Bad
Yes, they now make use of something they somehow call with straight faces DASHPASS. Although they undoubtedly wasted millions upon millions of U.S. dollars on this bullshit, it is highly inefficient in the face of overwhelming hordes of constituents. (They call them «customers.»)
Let me be clear: There is an obvious solution to deal with this problem. You hire more human-​fucking-​beings to serve the constituents. Rocket science this is not.
Oh, and how about you have more self-​service kiosks? Why is there an hour long plus queue for the kiosk? Place another fucking kiosk at this fucking DMV goddammit!
I digress.
Unless you are able to get in the e-​line very early in the morning — they open at 0800 — you will be waiting for a very long time. Here is the phone number: 347−763−6731. One sends an SMS to that number that indicates which location one wishes to suffer at. This one would be dmvsahara.
You will lose a part of your soul forever. Forever. This location is run so poorly, the DASHPASS does not even work in the afternoon, and if you go an hour — hours even — before the posted closing time, there will be employees informing you that they are at capacity and to try tomorrow. What the fuck …
This is the kind of stuff that drives overall normal people to terrorism. Surely, Sergeant Timothy McVeigh experienced an extremely poor DMV experience once or thrice in his life. Identification cards and license plates have been issued for how many years now and they still cannot get a simple matter right?

Final Verdict
DASHPASS … what a fucking joke. One star!

My Driver’s License was up for renewal (#1– even numbered birth years are required to get the 8 year edition and #2– real ID starting in 2016– that is a another story in which I will go into detail) and I was dreading every second of it, the anticipation of waiting in a longggggggggggg line was stressing me out– there is no exception, has to be done in person, not via mail or internet. I held out for as long as I could, the day before my birthday, saturday; this was my deadline. So, before I left my house which is 5 minutes away, I used the DASH PASS (via texting), but not entirely sure how the whole process worked. When I got there, I was lucky to find parking in the last lane of the regular parking lot, and there was about 300 in line (I’m not exaggerating, either). As I was headed into the long line (almost reached the other side of the fence to the rear of the DMV office property), I heard someone else in line, say, «It says my wait time is one minute.»
The line moved rapidly at 8 am. The security guard asked me if I used the texting/​Dash Pass, and when I said «Yes», he told me to sit down (inside). Once I was inside, there were few seats available. All counters were busy with people, and the information line was really long, too. The short line was the Kiosk line. Anyway, the automated female voice was calling out: «Now serving Text– and the last four digits of your cell number. (BTW, you have to respond via text, or else you lose your space in line.) It seemed to happen for me really quickly. When I got to the counter, the lady tells me about #1, which I knew about from the website (had my current DL, birth certificate, SS card, and she gave me a form to fill out), but didn’t know about #2– the REAL ID conversion in 2016 (allow access into federal buildings, the standard ID does not; this is a country-​wide conversion) so, she suggested that I go home, get my marriage certificate and two bills with my name and address, not older than 60 days. This way, I wouldn’t have to come back and pay an additional $ 8.00. So all this new stuff about the REAL ID was not on the website. I decline. Tells me to fill out the form. So, I’m given ten minutes to do, except there aren’t any pens available, so I go to the counter again (was really fast), and there I decide I will just go home and get all the stuff I need, and I have an hour to do all that. My line is rebooted into the system. I get home and I head back. I enter «J» to join the line again. I don’t do this until I am fairly close the DMV office. Because I have just enough time to park, and boom, my number’s called a few minutes after I re-​enter the building; but at this point, there are no seats available, it’s standing room only (told you that it was fast). Once I am at counter #3, that is the bulk of my visit, but I was so happy to get it all done. The lady, Joy, was very nice, and probably one of the nicest DMV clerks ever.
I would highly recommend that if you must go to the DMV, you use this Dash Pass (via text); so, now, that I have this information, I am passing this along to you.
If you don’t need to stay in line, use the Kiosk, which is an additional $ 3, but it’s so worth it!

We needed to get our Nevada state ID’S and searched the locations and wait times on the DMV website. Might I add, that website is a lifesaver! It was later in the day (2:30pm on a Saturday) and every DMV was about a half an hour to over an hour wait! This location shockingly had only a 10 minute wait, so of course we quickly made our way out here.
By the time we got to the DMV, we were able to just walk right up to the front. There was no wait at all! This DMV is clean, large, cool and the employees were friendly. Unfortunately we forgot our documents at home so we had to drive back and get it. By the time we got back to the DMV it was already 3:58pm (they close at 4). We were able to go right to the front of the line and our number was called right away.
The guy assisting us was not that animated or talkative, but in the end he was very efficient and helped us out a lot — even well after they were closed. We were the last ones there! We were really impressed with how helpful the employees here were.
We’re so glad we were able to finally get our Nevada state ID’s and we’re looking forward to the local discounts!
